Minecraft snapshot 22w43a: Camels and creative tweaks

The second Minecraft 1.20 snapshot is here, making some changes to the several big features that were added last week.

Last week was the first Minecraft snapshot for version 1.20/1.19.3. As you may expect, this week’s snapshot isn’t nearly as big, making necessary changes to a bunch of the new features that were added last time. The main thing that’s been affected is the creative mode inventory, which underwent a revamp last week, and camels are a little bit different now too.

We’ll walk you through all of the important changes in this snapshot, but if you want to know what you added last time, check out our notes for Minecraft snapshot 22w42a.

Minecraft 1.20: Every new feature announced so far

Minecraft 1.20 has finally been revealed, with a lot of small but highly requested features officially confirmed.

With the Wild Update long behind us, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the announcement of what’s coming in the next big Minecraft, especially with several promised features for 1.19 not making it into the final version. We were finally given a look at what’s in store for Minecraft 1.20 at the Minecraft Live event this weekend, and while there’s a bunch of cool stuff coming, it’s not quite the landmark update you might expect for a big round number like 1.20.

If you were hoping for The End dimension to get a big overhaul, then you’re going to have to wait a while longer, as 1.20 looks like it’ll focus on smaller features that fans have been requesting for a long time, but won’t revolutionize the game as Caves & Cliffs did. We’ll cover all the new features announced for the currently unnamed Minecraft 1.20 update and what they do.

Minecraft YouTuber Dream finally reveals his face after eight years

Dream has been on YouTube for eight years, but now fans have finally seen the elusive YouTuber’s face.

One of the most popular YouTube stars on the platform, Dream, has finally revealed his face publicly for the first time after eight years.

Dream has 30 million subscribers, making him one of the most prolific individuals in the history of the platform. His recent face reveal was viewed 15 million times within the first nine hours of uploading, making this video absurdly popular even when compared to the biggest celebrities on the platform.

[mm-video type=video id=01g3e53q81speqpw9pgf playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01g3e53q81speqpw9pgf/01g3e53q81speqpw9pgf-077e5a0dac038bcac491a271b4679544.jpg]

Dream’s face reveal starts with his chair turned away from the camera, just light brown hair and his familiar voice to hint at what comes next. Finally, after more than a minute of teasing, Dream takes off the mask and reveals his face.

Another popular YouTuber and friend of Dream’s, GeorgeNotFound commented saying “this is actual youtube history!” Dream also confirms in the video description that GeorgeNotFound will be uploading a video to his own channel where he showcases the first time he saw Dream in person.

Over the course of Dream’s rise to fame, his simplistic avatar with a crudely drawn smile has become an iconic part of his character and has only fuelled speculation on what Dream actually looks like. For many fans, this is years of discussion finally put to rest.

Dream has seen controversy over the course of his rise to fame, including a number of cheating allegations after Dream claimed the Minecraft speedrun world record multiple times. After a community investigation, it was deemed that Dream’s streak of luck was statistically impossible.

Dream denied cheating for a long time, before eventually conceding that modifications may have been made to his game to increase his chances. Regardless, this only served to push Dream further into the spotlight.

Minecraft Education announces collaboration with David Attenborough

The new Minecraft Education Edition brings Frozen Planet II to life in Mojang’s blocky builder.

Mojang and Microsoft announced a new Minecraft Education Edition project on Twitter, and this time, the sandbox building game is aiming for something different. Where previous Minecraft Education Edition projects centered on exploring cultural traditions or recreating the exploits of historical adventurers, the newest experience is a twist on natural historian David Attenborough’s Frozen Planet II documentary in collaboration with BBC Earth.

Minecraft Frozen Planet will go live on Sept. 22, 2022, and, despite being an Education Edition creation, Mojang will host the experience on Minecraft Bedrock’s marketplace for all players to download, even if they don’t have the Education toggle enabled. As these experiences remain live on the platform, Minecraft Frozen Planet has no end date,

“Experience life through the eyes of astounding animals who inhabit some of the world’s coldest regions,” Mojang said.

A trailer accompanied the blurb and shows a pair of blocky, non-NFT penguins frolicking on an ice floe, but players can likely expect to see polar bears and a range of arctic wildlife as well.

Unlike traditional Minecraft, with its emphasis on building fantastical worlds and even your own textures, Minecraft Education experiences want players to learn through exploration and immersion. The recent Te Ao Māori experience, for example, introduces players to Māori architecture and language using objects, vocabulary exercises, and even full lesson plans.

Every Minecraft cape and how to get them

Minecraft capes are exceedingly rare, making them a great status symbol if you can get your hands on one.

There aren’t many status symbols in Minecraft due to how each server is run by individuals, rather than Mojang directly, but the one thing that will make you stand out from the crowd is an official Minecraft cape. While there are Minecraft mods that can give you any cape you like, and some can be bought on the Marketplace, to have one officially tied to your account that you can use in the vanilla game is a rarity, especially as fewer and fewer are given out as the years go by.

We’re going to go through every cape released in the game’s history and explain who they were given out to. Some are VERY exclusive, others got widely distributed, and there are just one or two you can still get your hands on right now.

Mojang doesn’t want you to know about the Minecraft Vanilla Cape

A brand new cape was revealed for Minecraft, but Mojang doesn’t seem keen on letting people know about it yet.

Capes aren’t easy to come by in Minecraft, at least, not without the use of Minecraft mods. These unique cosmetic items are usually only given out to a lucky few for events or limited occasions. In the past, they’ve been given out to Minecon attendees, Mojang employees, or even bespoke ones for specific creators/prominent community members.

One such occasion was recently announced by Mojang where lots of people would be getting their hands on a cape. However, the announcement was quickly removed and fans were left scratching their heads as to whether this cape is just a myth. We’ll run you through the full story so far, and whether or not these Vanilla Capes are truly coming or not.

Minecraft 1.19.20 patch notes: 5 biggest changes in the Minecraft update today

The latest Minecraft update has fixed a huge list of bugs for Bedrock Edition, improving the experience for both PC and consoles.

Although the next big update for Minecraft is still a mystery, the team at Mojang are still working hard on keeping things running as smoothly as possible. Unfortunately, there is a lot of controversy surrounding Minecraft in 2022 as the new chat reporting and moderating system has come under a lot of fire for being unnecessary and broken.

This means fans will be disappointed to hear that the Minecraft update today doesn’t make any alterations to the system whatsoever. However, it does make a few tweaks and changes that the game has needed for a little while, especially with Bedrock Edition’s many bugs after The Wild Update launched.

We’ve put together the biggest changes and fixes you need to know about.

Minecraft developers do not ‘support or allow’ NFTs

Blockchain technologies ‘are not permitted to be integrated inside our client and server applications,” Mojang Studios states.

There hasn’t been a more intense games industry hot topic than the ongoing conversation regarding NFT implementation. Not in recent memory, anyway. Massive platforms like Steam and PlayStation aren’t supporting NFTs, and neither will Minecraft.

On Thursday, Mojang shared a guidelines update clarifying its stance on implementing NFTs, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrencies within Minecraft servers.

“To ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated inside our client and server applications,” Mojang said. “Nor may Minecraft in-game content such as worlds, skins, persona items, or other mods, be utilized by blockchain technology to create a scarce digital asset.”

Later in the post, Mojang addresses third-party companies that have begun selling world files, skin packs, and other assets related to Minecraft.

“NFTs are not inclusive of all our community and create a scenario of the haves and the have-nots,” Mojang continues. “Blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated inside our Minecraft client and server applications, nor may they be utilized to create NFTs associated with any in-game content, including worlds, skins, persona items, or other mods.”

It’s a pretty cut-and-dry statement. Not at all surprising either, given other studios and publishers like Ubisoft, Behavior Interactive, Team17, and many more faced immense fan blowback over NFT integration.

10 best Minecraft texture packs

Texture packs can transform your Minecraft world into just about anything. No matter what you’re looking for, we’ve got a bit of everything.

Minecraft is a game that allows you to create whatever your heart desires, but you’re still limited by the blocks that are on offer. We’ve all been in a situation where no block looks quite right for what we want, so we have to resort to the closest approximation of the style. There is a solution to this problem, and that is texture packs.

Also known as resource packs, these completely overhaul the textures on every block in the game, as well as some of the sound design and animations. It can make Minecraft look however you want, no matter the world seed. Maybe you want a medieval look, a futuristic look, or something completely wild and imaginative. All of it is possible with texture packs.
