Ravens announce inactives for Week 17 matchup vs. Rams

The Ravens released their inactive players list ahead of their Week 17 matchup with the Rams

The Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the Los Angeles Rams in a high-stakes Week 17 matchup. Baltimore needs a win if they want to have a realistic shot at making the playoffs, and they’ll have to do so against a talented Los Angeles team.

Ahead of the contest, the Ravens released their inactive players list, which was once again headlined by quarterback Lamar Jackson. The quarterback was seen limping noticeably in his return to the practice field on Wednesday and didn’t practice after that.

The Baltimore defense is going to have its hands full with the Rams offense, and it’s going to be a lot tougher without outside linebackers Odafe Oweh and Pernell McPhee, as well as cornerback Anthony Averett. The good news is that the defense will get back a lot of their players from the Reserve/COVID-19 list who were out last week so the pass rush should be able to handle the loss of Oweh. wide receivers James Proche II and Miles Boykin and guard Ben Powers round out the list for the Ravens.

Fullback Patrick Ricard is active today, which will help out the running game for Baltimore. With Ricard and tight end Nick Boyle both playing, the Ravens’ offense might be able to make some plays and keep up with the high-powered Los Angeles Rams offense.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 14 matchup vs. Browns

The Ravens released their final injury report ahead of their Week 14 matchup with the Browns

Injuries have been a key storyline for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2021 season. They have seen their team be decimated by losing many different contributors on both sides of the ball, but still hold an 8-4 record, and lead their division in the AFC North.

On Friday, Baltimore released their final injury report ahead of their Week 14 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Compared to injury reports of the past for the Ravens this was a breath of fresh air, as the team only had two players that didn’t practice, one of which was because of a rest day.

Only offensive lineman Patrick Mekari will carry the “out” designation into Sunday’s contest with Cleveland. Mekari suffered a hand injury in Baltimore’s Week 13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and head coach John Harbaugh said that the offensive lineman would be out “for a while” so the fact that he won’t play in Week 14 comes as no surprise.

Cornerback Jimmy Smith missed practice for rest purposes, while fullback Patrick Ricard (back) and tight end Nick Boyle (illness/knee) both returned to the field in a limited fashion after sitting out both Wednesday and Thursday. Wide receiver Miles Boykin doesn’t appear to be in line to play on Sunday after being listed as doubtful with a finger injury.

The Baltimore Ravens have been going through injuries ever since before the 2021 NFL season began. Despite that, the team stands at 8-3 and are atop the entire AFC.

Ahead of their Week 13 matchup with the Steelers, Baltimore announced their inactives. Ravens tight end Nick Boyle is inactive today after playing the last few games.  He’s been battling some injuries after coming back from a gruesome knee injury in 2020. It would’ve been nice to have Boyle playing today to give the offensive line some help and to protect Lamar Jackson.

The secondary also needs to step up without cornerback Chris Westry playing, so players like cornerback Marlon Humphrey need to have good games. Cornerback Jimmy Smith coming back can certainly help overcome the loss of Westry.

It’s good to see that Smith as well as defensive lineman Calais Campbell are playing today after missing the last few games with injuries.  That will definitely help out the defense, which has been playing great lately.

The Steelers also announced their inactives, which features cornerback Joe Haden among others.

Photos of Brian Kelly coaching Notre Dame in bowl games against LSU

The Irish have succeeded against LSU under Brian Kelly.

If you’re reading this story, chances are you’re as shocked as anyone that Brian Kelly reportedly is leaving Notre Dame to coach at LSU. For anyone with a long memory, it might be a slightly awkward arrangement at first because Kelly has coached two Irish teams to bowl wins over the Tigers. The first was a 31-28 win in the 2014 Music City Bowl that was decided on a last-second field goal from Kyle Brindza. Another close contest came in the 2018 Citrus Bowl, which the Irish won, 21-17, on a late 55-yard touchdown pass from Ian Book to Miles Boykin.

Here’s a look at Kelly during these games:

Ravens release final injury report for Week 12 matchup vs. Browns

The Ravens released their final injury report for their Week 12 matchup against the Browns

The Baltimore Ravens have dealt with many different injuries throughout the course of the 2021 season. Not only have they lost countless stars for the season, but also have had to deal with a multitude of multi-week and multi-month ailments.

On Friday ahead of their Week 12 matchup with the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore released their final injury report of the week. The team ruled out three players in wide receiver Miles Boykin, offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, and safety Ar’Darius Washington while also listing 10 players as questionable, including two defensive lineman and four cornerbacks.

The good news for the Ravens is that quarterback Lamar Jackson is not listed on the final injury report after practicing fully for all three days. wide receiver Devin Duvernay and inside linebacker Josh Bynes are also not listed.

Baltimore gave two of their players rest days to nurse and recover from some of their injuries in tight end Nick Boyle and defensive lineman Brandon Williams. Boyle played his first game in over a year in Week 11, so a rest day isn’t out of the ordinary while Williams has been nursing a shoulder injury for the last few weeks.

Ravens announce inactives for Week 11 matchup vs. Bears

The Ravens officially announced their inactives list ahead of their Week 11 game with the Chicago Bears

The Baltimore Ravens’ inactive list for Week 11 against the Chicago Bears has a lot of big-name players on it, namely quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson has been dealing with an illness for most of the week but looked like he was going to be playing after coming back to practice on Friday.

Things took a turn on Saturday afternoon when Jackson was put back on the injured list and downgraded to questionable.  He tried to give it a go today before the game, but he’s clearly still not feeling like himself. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley will make his first-career start today for Baltimore.

The Ravens’ secondary is also taking a hit this afternoon with cornerbacks Jimmy Smith and Anthony Averett both inactive.  This season has been a brutal one in terms of injuries for Baltimore, but they need to continue to persevere if they want to maintain their lead in the AFC North Division race.

The remainder of the inactives for the Ravens are wide receiver Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin, offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi and defensive tackle Brandon Williams. The team used every inactive spot on an injured/sick player.

The Bears put out their inactives list as well, and they will also be missing multiple key contributors.

Ravens activate WR Miles Boykin from IR, elevate two players from practice squad for Week 5

The Ravens activated wide receiver Miles Boykin from injured reserve and elevated two players from the practice squad to the active roster for Week 5

The Baltimore Ravens will be facing off against the Indianapolis Colts in a Monday Night Football matchup. The game will mark Baltimore’s third primetime game in their first five contests to kick off the 2021 season, as they’ve been getting under the bright lights early and often so far.

Before the game, the Ravens activated wide receiver Miles Boykin off of injured reserve while also elevating two players from their practice squad to the active roster for Week 5 in veteran offensive tackle Andre Smith and veteran defensive back Jordan Richards.

Boykin is the best blocking wide receiver on the team and will give Baltimore another weapon for quarterback Lamar Jackson to throw to. The wideout and the quarterback have had trouble getting on the same page at times, but hopefully the third-year player can take a leap this season.

Smith has been called up to the active roster multiple times, and will provide tackle depth in the event that Alejandro Villanueva can’t play or one of the starting tackles were to get injured if Villanueva can suit up.

Richards will give the Ravens an experienced veteran who could have a bigger role in the event that one or both of safeties DeShon Elliott or Geno stone can’t play due to the injuries that they’re dealing with.

Ravens OC Greg Roman shares thoughts on WRs Rashod Bateman, Miles Boykin

Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman shared his thoughts on wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Miles Boykin

The Baltimore Ravens activated wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Miles Boykin off of injured reserve on Wednesday, and both players returned to practice in full. The return of both players is great news for a team that has dealt with a massive amount of injuries over the past month, so getting two big pieces to their offense back on the field is a big deal.

When asked about his thoughts on both Bateman and Boykin, Baltimore offensive coordinator Greg Roman showed praise on both players, noting that they bring something special to the table on the offensive side of the ball.

“I think we were very impressed with Rashod [Bateman], obviously. We know Miles [Boykin] a lot more. Miles, I think, is probably one of the more physical blockers in the league. [He’s] really probably Top Five, maybe Top Three, if you’re really honest with yourself if you watch the film. Bateman, we feel great about what we’ve seen. So, it’s going to be kind of a little bit of what you were alluding to, and we’re going to kind of get a feel and a sense as we go with what he does really well and how we can apply him. It certainly gives us opportunities to basically just take Rashod’s ability and put it to use. So, we’ll see how that goes. Certainly, yesterday was his first day back, and we’re excited about that. From what we’ve seen, I think good things are going to happen there.”

It remains to be seen whether both players will suit up and play in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos. However, when they both do return to the field, Bateman’s explosiveness and Boykin’s blocking ability will help the Ravens’ offense in a big way.

The Baltimore Ravens have dealt with plenty of injuries over the course of the 2021 season. Both multi-week and season-ending ailments have been a major factor during the year so far, but Baltimore is finally starting to get some of their players back from their extended absences, including a few playmakers on the offensive side of the ball.

On Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN announced that the Ravens had activated wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Miles Boykin from injured reserve. Both players returning is an extremely positive development for the Baltimore offense, as they should each provide a big spark to the unit in multiple ways.

Bateman was the 27th pick in the 2021 draft, but the Ravens could look to ease him into the NFL game, as he missed a good chunk of training camp and the entire preseason, not to mention the first three games of the regular season. Boykin is known for his blocking in the run game, but hopefully can contribute more in the passing game this season.

Bateman and Boykin returned to practice on Wednesday and didn’t appear on the injury report. There is a chance that both could play in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Baltimore held them out on Sunday as they ramp up back into game action.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh says that WRs Rashod Bateman, Miles Boykin will return to practice this week

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Miles Boykin will return to practice this week

The Baltimore Ravens have been hit hard by injuries over the course of the 2021 season so far. They’ve lost key contributors on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, but have managed to put together solid performances en route to a 2-1 record.

On Monday, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh announced that a few of the players currently on injured reserve will return to practice this week in wide receivers Rashod Bateman and Miles Boykin. Both are eligible to come off of injured reserve this week, and it appears that both will do so and begin to ramp up their activity.

Even though Bateman and Boykin will seemingly return to practice this week, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the two will play against the Denver Broncos in Week 4. The Ravens could opt to let both players ramp up into game shape and have them return closer to Week 5 or Week 6 as opposed to having them play right off of the bat this upcoming Sunday. However, regardless of when they return, it’s great news that both seem to be very close to getting back on the football field.
