Texas A&M has receives another prediction to land elite 2025 5-star athlete

Texas A&M is now a favorite to land elite 2025 athlete Jonah Williams, who is visiting College Station this weekend

This weekend is a busy one for Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko, as the Aggies are currently hosting a talented list of 2025, 2026, and even several 2027 recruiting prospects, including elite 2025 five-star athlete Jonah Williams out of Galveston, Texas.

For those who have been out of the loop, since Elko took over the program back in late November, Williams’ relationship with the new coaching staff has continued to grow, resulting in several visits and a prediction from On3’s Steve Wiltfong for Williams to commit to Texas A&M over 30 other programs.

Amid his official visit this weekend, a potential Williams to Aggieland commitment has become more realistic, as 247Sports National Analyst Mike Roach submitted his own official prediction for the Aggies to land the versatile athlete, as an announcement could come sooner than later.

At an impressive 6-3 and 203 pounds, Williams’ size and versatility are comparable to those of New York Giants safety linebacker Isaiah Simmons. But on the field, he truly shines, demonstrating his productivity and potential.

During his junior season in 2023, he played wide receiver on offense and safety/linebacker on defense, showcasing his duel-threat ability, while recording 474 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, 58 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), four tackles for loss, and four punt return touchdowns on special teams. Yes, he can do it all.

As we all know, a picture speaks 1,000 words, and credit to Rivals’ Landyn Rosow for sharing a photo of starting Texas A&M linebacker Taurean York, safety Bryce Anderson, and 2025 four-star cornerback and Aggie commit Cobey Sellers relaxing by the water with Williams and the potential future teammates bond.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 7th-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 1-ranked linebacker prospect, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Texas.

Four-star OL Daniel Cruz down to four schools; Oklahoma Sooners in the mix

Daniel Cruz lists Oklahoma in his top 4 along with Texas, Texas A&M, and Ohio State and plans to commit in July.

Bill Bedenbaugh has filled his recruiting board with several offensive line options. From tackles to guards all across the nation, Bedenbaugh’s cast a wide net. For many rising senior prospects, summertime is a time to lock in on the recruiting process and narrow things down.

247Sports composite four-star [autotag]Daniel Cruz[/autotag] is one of those prospects. Cruz, a projected guard at the next level, has narrowed down his collegiate choices and intends to begin taking official visits this month.

Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M were included in Cruz’s top four schools. Texas is the perceived leader according to a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports from national recruiting analyst Mike Roach.

Cruz visited Ohio State last weekend and plans to be in College Station for his official visit with the Aggies this weekend. Two weekends later, he’ll make his way to Austin, where he’ll have his official visit with the Longhorns.

Cruz plans to commit in July, so this month is the final month for teams to make an impression or any late movement before the final decision. Oklahoma would probably slot fourth on the totem pole here with their Big 12 rivals leading this race. Crazier things have happened, and it is hard to discount Bill Bedenbaugh’s ability to sell Oklahoma with his ability to develop young linemen into NFL-caliber offensive line.

If Cruz does commit elsewhere, Oklahoma has a wide-open board with multiple prospects they could pivot to.

OU 2024 targets thrive at Under Armour Dallas camp, trending toward the Sooners

Oklahoma targets Michael Hawkins and Bryant Wesco had big days at the Under Armour Next camp in Dallas, and OU continues to trend in a positive direction for the four-star prospects.

Oklahoma’s top QB target and one of their top wide receiver targets in the [autotag]2024 recruiting class[/autotag] put on a show at the Under Armour Next All-America Dallas camp this past weekend.

[autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag], a consensus four-star QB prospect, took home the Accuracy Challenge award, while fellow four-star North Texas prospect Bryant Wesco took home wide receiver MVP honors.

Wesco dominated defensive backs with crisp routes, his size, and his ability to bring down any and everything that came his way. For both prospects, Oklahoma and TCU seem to be the top two schools in their recruitment.

Oklahoma and TCU will be on standby come April 8th as Hawkins plans to announce his commitment. Following his performance at UA Dallas Next, Hawkins received another crystal ball prediction in Oklahoma’s favor from Texas Insider Mike Roach on Monday.

Hawkins has 247Sports, On3, and Rivals, all projecting him to land with Oklahoma. Barring a surprise commitment between now and April 8th, Hawkins, if he chooses Oklahoma, will likely be their first commit for 2024.

On the other hand, Wesco seems like a recruitment that still has a little more time before it’s decided.

Like Hawkins, Wesco also received a projection in favor of Oklahoma following his performance in Dallas. Mike Roach also believes Oklahoma will land Wesco, giving the Sooners a four-star wide receiver to combine with potential four-star commit in Hawkins.

Roach joins OUInsider’s Brandon Drumm and Parker Thune in his projection of Wesco to Oklahoma.

With these new developments, Oklahoma could be on the cusp of announcing its presence on the recruiting trail for the class of 2024 in a big way. As recruitment of the 2023 class taught us, Oklahoma will run the whole race to the end. They will also strike while the iron is hot, like in the summer of 2022 when they reeled in 10 commits in 21 days.
