Dustin Poirier was the biggest winner at UFC on ESPN 12, both figuratively and financially.

[autotag]Dustin Poirier[/autotag] was the biggest winner at UFC on ESPN 12, both figuratively and financially.

After gutting out a grueling unanimous decision win over [autotag]Dan Hooker[/autotag] in the main event Saturday, Poirier (26-6 MMA, 18-5 UFC) took home a $300,000 disclosed purse. Add on his “Fight of the Night” bonus, and Poirier pocketed $350,000 total for his efforts.

MMA Junkie on Monday obtained a list of fighter salaries from the Nevada Athletic Commission for UFC on ESPN 12, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Poirier, 31, was among three fighters to earn a six-figure paycheck. Joining him were Hooker, who earned $110,000, and [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag], who pocketed $180,000 after defeating [autotag]Mickey Gall[/autotag], who made $50,000.

UFC on ESPN 12 medical suspensions: Dustin Poirier, Dan Hooker get matching terms

Three fighters are facing 180-day suspensions as a result of UFC on ESPN 12.

Three fighters are facing 180-day suspensions as a result of UFC on ESPN 12 – but neither of the card’s headliners is among them.

On Tuesday, MMA Junkie acquired a full list of UFC on ESPN 12 medical suspensions from the Nevada Athletic Commission. Fighters can return sooner than the duration of their suspensions if cleared by a doctor.

Despite a back-and-forth battle for 25 minutes, [autotag]Dustin Poirier[/autotag] and [autotag]Dan Hooker[/autotag] walked away relatively unscathed. Both men received a 60-day suspension due to a “tough fight.”

The three fighters facing the longest suspensions are [autotag]Gian Villante[/autotag], [autotag]Brendan Allen[/autotag], and [autotag]Khama Worthy[/autotag]. All three combatants were handed potential six-month terms due to various injuries.

[lawrence-related id=530481,530478]

Villante suffered a hand injury in his main card loss to [autotag]Maurice Greene[/autotag], right after Allen sustained injuries to his nose and eye against [autotag]Kyle Daukaus[/autotag]. Allen’s manager, Brian Butler, revealed the extent of his fighter’s injuries in a post on Sunday. As for Worthy, the promotional sophomore injured both his knee and hand in a win over [autotag]Luis Pena[/autotag], according to the medical report.

The full list of UFC on ESPN 12 medical suspensions include:

UFC on ESPN 12: Mike Perry vs. Mickey Gall odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 12 fight between Mike Perry and Mickey Gall, with MMA betting odds, picks, tips and bets.

[jwplayer V5jyIoVm]

Mike Perry and Mickey Gall tangle in a welterweight bout on the main card at UFC on ESPN 12 – also known as UFC Fight Night 174 – Saturday at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Las Vegas. The prelims kick off at 5 p.m. ET, followed by the main card set for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+.

Perry (13-6) heads into this one looking to pick himself up and dust himself off after being dropped in his last fight, a Round 1 loss to Geoff Neal Dec. 14, 2019 at UFC 245. In fact, Perry is on a two-fight skid and is 2-5 over his past seven fights, so he could use a signature win. Five of the past eight have ended up going the distance, with Perry on the short end in three of those bouts. His specialty is the knockout, and four of his six victories at the UFC level have come via KO/TKO.

Gall (6-2) doesn’t have a long fight history as a pro, but most of it has been very good. In seven fights at the UFC level, he has recorded five victories, with four wins by submission. He is 5-0 as a professional via submission, too. Gall has never won a fight by KO/TKO, although he was knocked out by Diego Sanchez at UFC 235 (March 2, 2019). Only two of Gall’s fights have been decided by the judges, with one a unanimous decision victory over Salim Touahri Aug. 3, 2019 on the UFC Fight Night: Covington vs. Lawler card.

Mike Perry vs. Mickey Gall betting odds

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday, June 26 at 6:45 a.m. ET.

Perry (-313) is just too expensive on the 2-way line, especially considering he is just 2-5 across his past seven bouts. Still, he has fought an impressive array of fighters, and Gall (+250) is a drop in quality of an opponent. In fact, if Perry can avoid Gall’s unorthodox methods and just brawl, avoiding him on the mat, Perry will cruise to the win. Still, Perry is a bit of an enigma, and betting him straight up by laying more than three times your potential return is a bit worrisome. AVOID.

PERRY TO WIN BY KO/TKO, DQ or SUBMISSION (-164) is a little more palatable, although you still have to munch on some considerable chalk. Get specific for values, namely by betting rounds. Look for the fight to FINISH IN ROUND 2 (+300), so you can turn a tidy profit if that comes into fruition. PERRY TO WIN BY KO/TKO/DQ IN ROUND 2 (+500) is worth a roll of the dice, too. I’d AVOID the total number of rounds bet here, but if you must, UNDER 2.5 rounds (-264) should be the play.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on Perry (-313) would bet a profit of only $3.19. A $10 wager on Perry to win by KO/TKO, DQ or Submission (-164) nets a profit of $6.10. A $10 play on Perry to win by KO/TKO/DQ in Round (+500) would fetch a nice return of $50 profit.

A pivotal lightweight clash headlines the UFC’s June 27 event.

Winner of seven of his last eight, Hooker (20-8 MMA, 10-4 UFC) is coming off a split-decision win over Paul Felder in February in a “Fight of the Night” effort.

Also featured on the poster is the co-main event that features a welterweight scrap between [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] (13-6 MMA, 6-6 UFC) and [autotag]Mickey Gall[/autotag] (6-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC).

Mickey Gall on Mike Perry having girlfriend as corner: ‘I don’t think Mike’s the brightest guy’

Mickey Gall is unsurprised Mike Perry would do something as unusual as abandon a traditional corner setup in favor of his girlfriend.

[autotag]Mickey Gall[/autotag] is unsurprised [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] would do something as unusual as abandon a traditional corner setup in favor of his girlfriend.

Gall (6-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC), in fact, thinks it’s quite on-brand for Perry (13-6 MMA, 6-6 UFC) to make such a much ahead of their welterweight matchup at UFC on ESPN 12.

Perry told MMA Junkie last month that he’s decided to separate from any formal coaching structure and work largely on his own. Perry’s girlfriend, Latory Gonzalez, will serve as his lone backup when he meets Gall in the co-headlining bout, which takes place June 27 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas and airs on ESPN.

Gall, meanwhile, has a tight-knit group of coaches behind him. It’s quite the contrast, and although Perry’s approach is the more unusual of the two for a high-level bout, Gall is not letting it cloud his vision of the fight.

“I don’t think it’s a very bright idea, but I don’t think Mike’s the brightest guy,” Gall told MMA Junkie. “It’s kind of an appropriate move. Not shocking. I don’t know what to make of it. I’m not putting too much stock into that, because it’s going to be a fight. It’s a fight and it’s me and him in there. I’m going to have a great corner of coaches. Real, legit coaches and he might not. But that doesn’t make a difference. It’s just going to be us in there.”

Gall is somewhat reluctant to put Perry’s choice of tactics on blast because he’s “a low-key Mike Perry fan.” Established coaches or not, he views Perry as a fighter who pushes his chips all-in for every second of every fight, and it’s hard not to respect that as a competitor.

“This will be a big win for me,” Gall said. “This will be nice win. I’m a low-key Mike Perry fan. He’s a fun fighter, he’s exciting, he always brings it. I’m looking forward to putting my kill stuff up against his kill stuff and see it where it ends up. He’s a great character. He’s funny, he talks some smack, he comes in there and fights hard and fights violent. I like that. I’m a low-key fan. I like him as an opponent.”

That’s why Gall has pushed for a showdown with Perry for so long. He first mentioned the idea more than a year ago, then had some words for “Platinum” after Perry took a shot at the quality of his win over Salim Touahri at UFC on ESPN 4 in August.

Since the fight was booked, Perry has expressed gratitude for UFC giving him an “weak ass opponent” in comparison to some of his most recent matchups. On paper, Gall might not be as highly ranked as many of Perry’s UFC foe. However, he said Perry’s going to learn the hard way that doesn’t mean he’s not as good.

[lawrence-related id=527571,521465]

“I hope he’s expecting a weak opponent,” Gall said. “He’s going to be sorrily mistaken. … I’m going to be prepared for the best Mike Perry. I’m going to be ready for it all. I’d be stupid to take him or anyone lightly, so we’re not doing that. We’re preparing for hell.”

Gall said he thinks he holds the advantage of Perry in every facet of the game. However, the ground game is his bread and butter, and he sees a strong avenue to a submission win.

“I probably have a bigger gap and advantage on the jiu-jitsu and the grappling,” Gall said. “But I plan on cracking him a few times for sure, maybe the whole time. I’d like to get a knockout, but the smart money would be a submission. Maybe I’ll drop him and jump on his neck or something.”

Darren Till created a website dedicated to trolling Mike Perry

MikePerryIsABum.com is an actual thing.

How did the relationship between [autotag]Darren Till[/autotag] and [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] go from spa to spar?

What initially seemed like banter between the two fighters clearly has escalated, with Till going from creating Instagram accounts to trash Perry to now purchasing a domain for website he’s created: MikePerryIsABum.com.

This is a real thing. Check it out:

(Screen grab)

The site includes a “Bum Gallery” with memes and images of Perry’s recent losses and damage taken in fights.

A few years ago, a potential Perry vs. Till fight was a hot topic. But then things seemed cool between the two fighters in 2018, when they wound up sparring together in Los Angeles. The feud sparked up again, though, and last month Perry told MMA Junkie just how much he hates Till, going off on him with homophobic slurs.

More recently things escalated further when Till took aim at Perry’s girlfriend, with Perry firing back on social media.

[lawrence-related id=521465]

A fight between the two seems highly unlikely as things stand, with Till recently moving up to middleweight. But their rivalry continues to brew.

Till is scheduled to headline the UFC’s July 25 event on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi when he takes on Robert Whittaker, while Perry faces Mickey Gall in the co-main event of the UFC’s June 27 event.
