Florida State head coach Mike Norvell was considered a top candidate for the job, but luckily for the Seminoles, he is sticking around. One of the best coaches in the country is staying in the ACC.

Norvell and the Seminoles had a breakout season, ending the regular season 13-0 with an ACC Championship win. We all know how bad their 63-3 Orange Bowl blowout loss was, but that wasn’t the FSU team we saw during the regular season.

Norvell has received an eight-year contract that is expected to pay him more than 10 million a year.

This is huge news as another piece in the story fades away as Dabo Swinney becoming the next Crimson Tide head coach becomes that much more likely. Hopefully, Swinney will remain with the program, but it’s anyone’s guess what happens next.

Social media reacts: DJ Uiagalelei transfers to Florida State

Former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is heading back to the ACC.

After a one-year stint at Oregon State, former Clemson quarterback is back on the move again, this time transferring to Florida State, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Monday.

Uiagalelei transferred to Oregon State in December 2022 after three seasons at Clemson, the latter two of which he was the starting signal-caller for the Tigers.

In his one year as a Beaver, the former five-star recruit completed 57.1 percent of his passes for 2,638 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for 219 yards and six scores on the ground. Prior to Monday’s decision, Uiagalelei was deciding between staying in college or declaring for April’s NFL draft.

With the move, Uiagalelei will play for the Seminoles, one of Clemson’s biggest rivals in the ACC, in his last season in college football. The Tigers will travel to the Seminoles in the 2024 season in what will be the first meeting between Uiagalelei and Clemson since he left the program.

Florida State football coach was displeased, obviously, as his 13-0 Seminoles were placed fifth and outside the CFP semifinalists on Sunday.

Norvell released a statement on the decision:

He did NOT hold back.

For the first time in years, the College Football Playoff committee was faced with a difficult decision for the four-team playoff. And Florida State has every right to be furious about the teams the committee landed on.

Despite going undefeated and winning the ACC title, Florida State was dropped to No. 5 on the final CFP rankings, making them the first unbeaten team from a Power 5 conference to miss out on the playoff.

Instead, Alabama (12-1) jumped FSU after defeating then-top-ranked Georgia in the SEC title game. When that decision was announced, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell and his players were in visible disbelief.

That was just the beginning. Shortly after the CFP selection show concluded, Florida State released a statement from Norvell. He didn’t hold back at all as the committee essentially penalized FSU for overcoming a tough injury to quarterback Jordan Travis.
