Michigan State women’s basketball lands commitment from Ball State transfer Nyla Hampton

Robyn Fralick has been busy adding to her Michigan State women’s basketball team. The Spartans have now added four transfers with the commitment of Ball State transfer Nyla Hampton on Friday and the commitment of Jaddan Simmons on Saturday.

Nyla Hampton, who was part of Robyn Fralick’s team at Bowling Green before she transferred to Ball State, averaged 8.7 points per game to go along with 4.8 assists and 3.3 steal for the Cardinals.

Combine that with Jaddan Simmons, Grace Vanslooten and Emma Shumate and the Spartans are looking dangerous next year.

Michigan State women’s basketball lands Arizona State transfer Jaddan Simmons

Michigan State women’s basketball and head coach Robyn Fralick have been crushing it in the NCAA transfer portal. After losing DeeDee Hagemann and Bree Robinson to the portal at the start of the offseason, the Spartans have bounced back with some major transfer additions, and they got another one on Saturday when Jaddan Simmons announced her commitment to the Spartans.

Simmons averaged 9.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game last year for Arizona State and will be a great addition in the backcourt for MSU.

Michigan State women’s basketball falls short to North Carolina in first round of NCAA Tournament

Michigan State women’s basketball falls short to North Carolina in first round of NCAA Tournament

Well, it was a heck of a first season for head coach Robyn Fralick and her Michigan State women’s basketball team. The Spartans had their best season in eight years, defied the odds and finished No. 4 in the Big Ten, and put a scare into North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, despite falling short. The Spartans fell to the Tar Heels 59 to 56.

This was always going to be a difficult match-up for MSU, as the Spartans are widely-known to be lacking size this year, so it wasn’t a surprise that they got absolutely dominated on the boards, getting out-rebounded 45 to 27. It’s actually remarkable that the Spartans only lost by three, considering North Carolina had 18 offensive rebounds to the Spartans’ six.

Michigan State will be able to get some revenge on North Carolina when the men play them tomorrow.
