Michigan State football transfer CB Charles Brantley gets an offer from Colorado

Michigan State transfer CB Charles Brantley gets an offer from Colorado just a few hours after entering the portal

Sunday evening, Michigan State football cornerback Charles Brantley entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. About an hour and a half later, Brantley announced that he has an offer out from the University of Colorado, home of new coach Deion Sanders.

Based on how the transfer portal works these days, it’s not surprising that Brantley had an offer out so soon, especially since he was a solid defensive back for the Spartans.

Michigan State football hosting Nebraska transfer on visit

MSU is hosting a Nebraska transfer for a visit this weekend

Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker has made it very clear that the Spartans will be in the market for transfers as the spring portal window has opened up. The Spartans have been quick to make a move.

MSU is hosting Alante Brown on a visit this weekend. Brown has spent the last three seasons as a wide receiver with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Fans know Brown all too well after the roller coaster of a recruitment Brown had in the 2020 recruiting class when Mark Dantonio tried to bring the Chicago to East Lansing during his initial recruitment.

Michigan State football has extended a scholarship offer to recent Vanderbilt offensive lineman transfer Jason Brooks.

Brooks announced the offer from the Spartans on Saturday evening. He entered the transfer portal earlier this week and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Brooks appeared in five games this past season — including one start — for Vanderbilt. He was a three-star prospect in the 2020 class and hails from Houston, Texas.

Based on his Twitter profile, he has also received offers from Oklahoma State and Houston since entering the portal. Brooks would be a nice addition to the Spartans’ offensive line — which is an area that needs to improve for next season.

Three Spartans listed in 247Sports’ Top 100 transfers rankings

Three new Spartans are ranked amongst the top 100 transfers in the country, according to 247Sports.

Three new Spartans are ranked amongst the top 100 transfers in the country, according to 247Sports.

Clint Brewster of 247Sports outlined his top 100 transfers from this offseason, and three incoming transfers for Michigan State cracked his list. Those three Spartans are:

  • No. 79 – RB Kenneth Walker III (from Wake Forest)
  • No. 82 – LB Quavaris Crouch (from Tennessee)
  • No. 98 – LB Itayvion Brown (from Minnesota)

On the flip side of that, none of the many Spartans that have left the program through the transfer portal made this list. So that would suggest Michigan State has experienced quite some success in adding talented players via the portal while not losing any true key contributors.

I personally believe Walker and Crouch could be higher on this list based on the type of production they had at their previous schools. But it’s still impressive and nice to see these three guys recognized amongst the top 100 transfers in the country.
