Luke Fulton was a member of Michigan State’s 2019 recruiting class. A highly touted 4-star out of Youngstown, Ohio, Spartan fans had high hopes that Fulton would be the next great linebacker in East Lansing.

Fulton was set to compete for one of the linebacker spots in 2020, but an off the field issue kept the redshirt freshman away from the team during training camp. Fulton never returned to the team and had entered his name in the transfer portal at the conclusion of the season.

Fulton is headed to the SEC and is the first outgoing transfer to land at a power five school. Kentucky was after the linebacker out of high school and have now got him.

Mel Tucker will look to fill his void through the transfer portal and upcoming recruiting classes.

The Philadelphia Eagles have made another roster move that benefits a former Spartan this afternoon when the team announced Raequan Williams was promoted to the active roster. Earlier this week, Williams’ former Michigan State teammate Joe Bachie was signed by the organization.

This is the second time this season Williams has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. In his first stint, Williams played in two games for the Eagles, recording 3 tackles.

Following his redshirt season as a freshman, Raequan Williams spent four years as a key contributor on the Michigan State defensive line from 2016-2019. Williams was a member of the All-Big Ten team for his performance in his junior and senior seasons. Williams went undrafted in to 2020 NFL Draft but signed with the Eagles quickly after the draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles face off against the New Orleans Saints at 4:25 p.m. EST. on Sunday.

The Philadelphia Eagles made a roster move to improve their linebacker room this afternoon, signing former Michigan State linebacker Joe Bachie off of the New Orleans Saints practice squad. Bachie will join fellow Spartan teammate Raequan Williams on the Philadelphia active roster.

Joe Bachie was a critical member of the Michigan State defense from the moment he arrived on campus in 2016. Bachie played in 40 games over his four years in East Lansing, recording 285 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and 7 sacks. Bachie was also a two-time all-Big Ten team member.

The former Spartan captain went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, but was quickly picked up by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. Bachie has spent this season on the Saints practice squad.

The Philadelphia Eagles will face the New Orleans Saints this Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EST.

Michigan State LB’s Luke Fulton, Charles Willekes enter transfer portal

Michigan State has lost two linebackers, Luke Fulton and Charles Willekes, to the transfer portal. Look for Mel Tucker to add to the core.

Michigan State has lost two more players to the transfer portal. Red-shirt freshman linebackers Luke Fulton and Charles Willekes are the latest defections to the portal.

Neither Fulton or Willekes have suited up for the Spartans this year as a suspension was handed down on both of them before the season had begun. The suspension was the result of an off the field investigation being done over a situation that had taken place. Fulton was initially charged with aggravated assault and there were no known charges for Willekes.

This would mark three linebackers to transfer from the Spartans, after Marcel Lewis announced his decision to transfer earlier this season. That leaves Michigan State with eight scholarship linebackers for the remainder of this season.

With no linebackers currently committed in the 2021 recruiting class, expect to see head coach Mel Tucker, defensive coordinator Scottie Hazelton and linebackers coach Ross Els to add one or two linebackers through the 2021 recruiting class, as well as hitting the transfer portal hard this off-season.
