Mic’d-up video of Chase Young admiring Nick Bosa’s game should have 49ers fans pumped about the trade

And now they’re teammates again.

The San Fransisco 49ers pulled off a shocking move ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline when they acquired defensive end Chase Young from the Commanders for a third-round pick. The move pairs Young with Nick Bosa and immediately gives San Francisco one of the league’s most talented pass-rushing tandems.

The trade also teams up two players who are very familiar with each other.

Young and Bosa were teammates at Ohio State, and Young had the opportunity to learn from Bosa before becoming a No. 2 overall pick. In mic’d-up footage from NFL Films, it turned out that Young’s admiration for Bosa’s game continued into his NFL career.

After the trade was announced, NFL Films shared footage from 2022’s matchup between the Niners and Commanders. And we could hear how Young explained to his teammates on the sidelines just how effective Bosa’s technique can be. Bosa ended up having a monster game that day with seven tackles, two sacks and two tackles for a loss.

And though Young’s injuries have largely held him back from being an All-Pro kind of player, the chemistry and understanding he has with Bosa should have Niners fans loving that trade.

WATCH: Chiefs TE Travis Kelce mic’d up for Week 7 tilt vs. Chargers

Travis Kelce was mic’d up for the #Chiefs’ Week 7 win over the #Chargers.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce played with an extra edge against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7, hauling in 12 passes for 179 yards in a touchdown. His efforts helped lift Kansas City to its sixth win of the 2023 season and dazzled 12-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift, who was in attendance for Kelce’s stellar performance at Arrowhead Stadium.

The All-Pro pass catcher was mic’d up for the rivalry tilt, and a video of his antics during the Week 7 matchup was posted to Twitter by the Chiefs on Wednesday.

Kelce’s enthusiasm for the game of football is absolutely infectious in the clip, and his trademark charisma was on full display as he put on a show for Chiefs Kingdom against the Chargers.

While his relationship with the aforementioned Swift has been the object of endless speculation on social media, this mic’d up recording is a good reminder that for all the press he has received in recent weeks, Kelce is still a football player at heart.

Travis Kelce had excellent advice for Chargers rookie Scott Matlock in a cool mic’d-up moment

Sportsmanship at its finest.

Much of the focus this season on Travis Kelce has been off the field — for obvious reasons — but the Chiefs tight end is still putting together another All-Pro season that has opponents taking notice.

As a player who wasn’t drafted highly out of college, Kelce is the kind of player other later-round picks can turn to for inspiration. We saw exactly that after Sunday’s game between the Chiefs and Chargers.

Following Kansas City’s win — where Kelce had 179 yards and a touchdown — Kelce shared a postgame exchange with Chargers rookie defensive end Scott Matlock. The sixth-round pick from Boise State is still battling for a bigger role on the Chargers, so he went to Kelce for advice.

It didn’t disappoint.

Even through all the commotion that happens after a game, Kelce was willing to offer an opponent some valuable advice. It was clear that Matlock appreciated it too.

You love to see that.

Mics picked up Derek Carr angrily shouting at Saints receiver Chris Olave for giving up on a route

The ball went five yards out of bounds …

Thursday night’s game between the Saints and Jaguars was a frustrating evening all around for New Orleans. And one play in particular summed up how the night went for Derek Carr’s offense.

On a third-down play in the fourth quarter with the Saints down eight points, Carr tried to air a pass out to wide receiver Chris Olave. The pass, though, was nowhere close and sailed out of bounds to bring up fourth down. But when the cameras panned back at Carr, the Saints quarterback was furious.

Without even hearing Carr, it seemed like he was upset at Olave for not running through the whole route. And mic’d-up footage from the Jaguars would confirm that this week.

Carr could be heard shouting at Olave, “What are you doing?! Run!”

And while it’s not out of the ordinary for quarterbacks to get on their receivers like that — Tom Brady was known to be a tough leader — it was odd to see Carr get so upset at Olave over an incompletion he never had a chance of catching. That pass was nowhere close to staying in bounds, so even if Olave ran through the route, the result would have stayed the same.

NFL fans loved how Mike McDaniel took responsibility on the sidelines for Mike White’s bad pick-6

Who wouldn’t want to play for him?

When it comes to NFL head coaches, there isn’t a more unique personality than Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel. He’s often unintentionally (and intentionally) hilarious. But there’s a reason why he has the respect of the locker room and the Dolphins at 5-1.

He simply knows how to coach. He’s also not one to throw his players under the bus.

While the Dolphins cruised to a 42-21 win against the Panthers, the game briefly turned interesting late when backup quarterback Mike White threw an interception that Troy Hill returned back all the way for a touchdown. The pass itself was ill advised and made for an easy interception.

But when it came time to go over the play with White, McDaniel didn’t pile on. Instead, the Dolphins coach took responsibility for the interception.

McDaniel said via mic’d-up footage from Inside the NFL:

“I feel really bad about that … I know. I thought there was no chance … I know, it was my fault. Just don’t sweat it. I know, it’s annoying me to.”

Players want to play for that kind of coach, and fans enjoyed hearing that exchange on the sidelines too.

Mic’d-up Tony Pollard had a delightfully shocked sideline reaction to the Cowboys’ fake field goal

He was genuinely confused!

The Dallas Cowboys handed Bill Belichick his worst regular-season defeat as Patriots head coach on Sunday, and it took some surprises from Mike McCarthy’s staff to throw New England completely off its game.

It turned out that even Cowboys running back Tony Pollard was caught off guard himself on the sidelines.

NFL Films captured the sideline reaction as Dante Fowler sacked Mac Jones in the second quarter, forcing a fumble and a Leighton Vander Esch return for a touchdown. When the Cowboys lined up for the point-after try, Pollard had no idea what was about to happen.

The Cowboys dialed up a fake where punter/holder Bryan Anger threw to defensive tackle Chauncey Golston for a two-point conversion, and we heard as Pollard figured out what just happened amid the fired-up bench area.

“What just happened,” he asked as the crowd and bench area went wild. That’s when Pollard learned that the special-teams unit had been practicing that fake all week.

Just amazing.

It also goes to show just how difficult it is to watch a game from an NFL sideline and how the rest of the team rarely knows when a fake is coming. But still, fans loved that reaction from the Cowboys running back. He was actually shocked.

Mic’d-up video showed Tua Tagovailoa actually planning the Dolphins’ TD celebration in the huddle

Confidence was on a whole different level.

The Miami Dolphins had themselves a historic performance against the Broncos on Sunday. And when you score 70 points in a game, you better have some touchdown celebrations ready to go.

The Dolphins were more than prepared in that regard. They were even getting their celebrations organized in huddle.

With the Dolphins facing a first-and-goal play from the three-yard line, Tyreek Hill came running to the huddle and asked Tua Tagovailoa if they could break out the celebration that the team had worked on earlier in the week. Tua loved the idea, and proceeded to call the play and celebration as a singular playcall because of course.

“We’re gonna do the celebration when we score right here,” Tua said in the mic’d-up footage from NFL Films. And just like that, Raheem Mostert scored on the three-yard run to set up the choreographed celly.

Talk about confidence. They knew they were going to score.

Fans enjoyed the mic’d-up moment as well. The Dolphins were on a whole different level that game.

NFL fans loved hearing Geno Smith’s mic’d-up pep talk for struggling teammate Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Now, that’s a leader.

We shouldn’t be surprised with Geno Smith’s career renaissance anymore, but at the same time, it’s incredible to see his transformation to a Very Good starting quarterback from how he was with the Jets.

And that doesn’t just include his play on the field. He’s the kind of leader that the Seahawks hoped to have at quarterback in the post-Russell Wilson era.

We watched that on display on Sunday.

Though the Seahawks defeated the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Smith noticed that rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was looking down on the bench. Smith-Njigba’s NFL career is off to a quiet start, and he only had one reception on three targets in Sunday’s game. Still, Smith wanted to make sure that Smith-Njigba knew he’d have an important role.

In the mic’d-up discussion from NFL Films, Smith took the blame for not getting the ball to the rookie receiver and really did his part to get Smith-Njigba in the right mindset.

Smith told him:

“Hey, I need you. Need you in the second half. Need you locked in. Alright, look. Whatever happened is on me. It ain’t never on you. You gotta get the ball, so I gotta find you. Alright. But I need you to give me your best this second half.”

Fans also loved hearing that leadership from Smith in action. That focus will pay off for Smith-Njigba as the season continues even if Sunday’s game wasn’t as productive as he would have liked.

Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas apologized mid-interview before making a play and MLB fans were so impressed

“Sorry, guys. I need to make this play real quick.”

The in-game interview has become a common feature of national MLB broadcasts ever since Fox introduced them in the All-Star Game a few years ago. And as part of the recent CBA, players even have a financial incentive to participate in these interviews.

They’re not going away any time soon. And when you get moments like what we saw on Sunday, it’s easy to understand why MLB loves these interviews. It’s an easy way to put the game’s personality on display.

During the second inning of Sunday night’s game between the Dodgers and Giants, shortstop Miguel Rojas was mic’d up for an interview with the ESPN booth before a Thairo Estrada grounder came his way.

Rojas stopped his sentence, fielded the ball and said, “Sorry, guys. I need to make this play real quick.” And fired a perfect throw to first to retire Estrada.

The booth absolutely loved that, and Rojas was seen laughing after the play. It’s difficult enough to field a grounder in a big-league game, but you have to respect the multi-tasking from Rojas. He said he had to make the play, and he followed through with the promise.

Fans were also impressed with Rojas there. It takes elite focus to carry out an interview on national television while simultaneously making plays at shortstop.

WATCH: Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. mic’d up at practice

Willie Gay Jr.’s “hype scream” took center stage in this mic’d up segment from #Chiefs training camp.

Few players are more energetic than Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay Jr., and his vivacity was on full display in a mic’d up segment that made the rounds on Twitter yesterday.

Gay’s signature “hype scream” took center stage in this feature, wherein the fourth-year linebacker interacted with teammates during a training camp practice in St. Joseph at Missouri Western State University.

The Chiefs will need Gay to be a productive piece of their defense in 2023 as Kansas City looks to defend its Super Bowl LVII title over the course of a grueling 17-game schedule.

The continued absence of star defensive lineman Chris Jones means there will be plenty of slack for players like Gay to pick up at the second level. A breakout year from the Mississippi State product would help make the Chiefs’ defense a top unit in the NFL while Kansas City has a target on its back.
