The 6-foot-6, 305-pound interior offensive lineman is ranked as the No. 178 recruit in the class of 2025. Short is considered the No. 8 interior offensive lineman and the No. 26 recruit in Georgia, according to 247Sports. Short primarily plays offensive tackle for Evans High School, but is projected as an offensive guard at the next level.

Short committed to Georgia over Clemson, Kentucky, and Ohio State. Clemson was considered Georgia’s main competition for the Evans offensive lineman. Short was previously committed to Alabama before Nick Saban retired.

Short visited the Georgia Bulldogs on March 16 and Clemson a few days before going to Athens. Short decommitted from the Alabama Crimson Tide in January after visiting the University of Georgia and after legendary head coach Nick Saban retired.

Georgia offered a scholarship to Mason Short in April 2022 and have made the Evans standout a priority. The four-star offensive line recruit announced his commitment to Georgia at his high school.

Short made his commitment with the song “Georgia on My Mind” by Ray Charles playing as he made his verbal pledge to the Bulldogs. Short emphasized that he is focusing 80 percent of his commitment on the school’s offensive line recruit and 20 percent on the school’s head coach. It goes without saying that Georgia offensive line coach Stacy Searels played a big role in Short’s recruitment.

Four-star Alabama decommit announces offer from Clemson

Swinney and the Tigers have offered a highly touted offensive lineman recruit who recently decommitted from Alabama.

The Alabama football program has been dealing with a lot of falloff since the retirement of legendary head coach Nick Saban.

Many players have entered the transfer portal, but recruits have also decommitted from the program as they look for a future elsewhere. One of those players is four-star offensive line recruit Mason Short.

Short took to social media recently to announce that he has received an offer from Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. Clemson is always looking for talent on the offensive line, and they’ve identified Short as a key target.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, Short is ranked as the No.8 interior offensive lineman and the No.160 overall player in the 2025 class. Short will be a player to monitor closely as the Tigers need help on their offensive line in the future.

Gators hosting Alabama offensive lineman decommit in February

Four-star interior offensive lineman Mason Short backed off his pledge to Alabama once Nick Saban left, and now he’ll visit Florida.

Evans High (Georgia) offensive lineman [autotag]Mason Short[/autotag] backed off his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Jan. 16 following the retirement of Nick Saban, and now Florida has another chance to recruit him.

Short posted to Twitter that he’d be in Gainsville for a visit on Feb. 3, tagging offensive line coach Rob Sale.

The Gators aren’t the only SEC team in on Short, though. Georgia is considered the favorite to land a commitment from him, according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine. Short has posted several times about Kirby Smart visiting his high school just hours after Saban’s retirement.

A good visit could go a long way for Florida, though. The Gators have been in this race since November 2022 when they hosted him for the South Carolina game and offered.

Clemson will also get Short on campus this Saturday for the Tigers’ first junior day of the year.

Short is a four-star recruit everywhere but On3. However, the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of all four major recruiting services, puts him at No. 194 overall in the class of 2025. He’s also ranked No. 10 among interior offensive linemen in the class.
