Michigan State football has added one of the best kickers in the 2024 class to its program.

Martin Connington of Boise, Idaho officially signed with Michigan State as part of National Signing Day on Wednesday. Connington is listed as a three-star prospect in 247Sports’ ratings but is considered a top 10 kicker in the class.

Connington ranks as the No. 7 kicker in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2024 class. Connington picked Michigan State over offers from Boise State, Oregon State and Idaho.

BREAKING: MSU flips Oregon State kicker Martin Connington

Michigan State has made their first splash of the late window in the 2024 recruiting class. Jonathan Smith has made it known that he wants to build the MSU program through the high school ranks and the month of January has proved that importance.

After signing 18 players in December, Smith will want to get a handful more by the February signing period, and the first domino has dropped.

Kicker Martin Connington has flipped his commitment from Oregon State to Michigan State after an official visit this past weekend.

Connington is a native of Meridian, Idaho, attending Mountain View High School.

A big-time kicking prospect is set to visit Michigan State this weekend.

Five-star kicker Martin Connington of Meridian, Idaho announced on Tuesday that he’ll be taking an official visit to Michigan State this upcoming weekend. Connington is currently committed to Oregon State but clearly is considering following former Beavers and current Spartans head coach Jonathan Smith to East Lansing, Mich.

247Sports ranks Connington as the No. 11 kicker in the 2024 class. He is also ranked as the No. 7 player from the state of Idaho.

A crystal ball prediction in favor of the Spartans was submitted for Connington in the past week. So, hopefully, some good news could come out of his upcoming visit and he’ll flip from Oregon State to Michigan State.

In today’s college football, recruiting is a 24/7, all year proposition for programs and its coaches. While many know about the early signing period, that occurs in December, the late signing period in February is still an important date to monitor.

New MSU head coach Jonathan Smith has made it known that he is always looking to improve his roster, and I expect him to take advantage of this late signing period to add more talent into the 2024 recruiting class.
