Four-star TE Dylan Mesman puts Auburn in top five, sets commitment date

He is set to commit Friday.

[autotag]Dylan Mesman[/autotag] is one of the top tight ends in the country and he is set to announce his commitment later this week and Auburn is a finalist.

The four-star prospect took to Twitter to announce that he will be committing on Friday at 6 p.m. and will be deciding between Auburn, Michigan State, Louisville, Kentucky, and Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder is from Saline, Michigan, and has visited the in-state Spartans, more than any other school. The Spartans have received one crystal ball prediction to land him by Curey Robinson of 247Sports.

He is the No. 390 overall player and No. 19 tight end in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 8 player from Michigan in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

The Tigers have already landed one tight end in three-star [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but are expected to try and land multiple high school tight ends in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Tight end Martavious Collins commits to Auburn

He was previously committed to Alabama before backing off his pledge.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Auburn have pulled off yet another flip. This time it’s three-star tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] who was previously committed to Alabama.

The Rome, Georgia product announced the news Friday afternoon when he picked the Tigers over Florida State and a host of other schools.

While multiple coaches put in the work to pull off the flip, tight end coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] led the charge for Collins.

Collins committed to Alabama back in July but Auburn never stopped recruiting him. He visited in September and January prior to backing off his pledge to the Crimson Tide. He then returned for the A-Day game and tabbed Auburn as his leader.

The 6-foot-3, 241-pounder is a traditional tight end who has the athleticism to be a receiving threat but his blocking ability is the strength of his game. He can line up on the line of scrimmage or in the backfield.

Collins is the No. 507 overall player and No. 50 athlete in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 54 player from Georgia.

He is Auburn’s fifth commit of the 2024 recruiting cycle, joining four-star quarterback [autotag]Walker White[/autotag], four-star running back [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], and four-star cornerbacks [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag].

Auburn is likely not done recruiting tight ends this cycle as they are expected to take two with the second one being a bigger factor in the receiving game.

Tigers could make push for former Alabama commit Martavious Collins

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently lists Auburn as the favorite to sign Collins, a three-star TE from Georgia.

Tight end is a specialty position for [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag]. One of the first big splashes Auburn landed in the transfer portal was [autotag]Rivaldo Fairweather[/autotag] from FIU, but the Tigers could be getting even stronger at the position.

An article from On3 written by Drew Schott explains how Auburn has become a potential landing spot for [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag], a three-star recruit from Rome, Georgia who is ranked No. 513 overall and the No. 28 tight end in the class of 2024 according to On3 and is currently given a 63.2% chance to commit to Auburn, the highest of any program who has offered Collins.

The article included input from Cole Pinkston of Auburn Live.

“Auburn, and tight ends coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag], have made Martavious Collins a top priority since January. At the time, he was still committed to Alabama. Now, Collins is the blocking specialist/H-back type that Aigamaua wants in his class. Auburn hopes to take two tight ends, but getting Collins was priority No. 1.”

Collins could make a recruiting class that already shows promise look even better for the Tigers in 2024.

Former Alabama commit projected to Auburn

Four-star tight end Martavious Collins is a key Auburn target and they are in a good spot to land him.

Four-star tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] was committed to Alabama for six months but decided to back off his commitment on Feb. 6.

Auburn appears to be a major reason why and is now the favorite to land the Rome, Georgia, product. Jeffrey Lee and Cole Pinkston of Auburn Live have both logged predictions for the Tigers to land him on Wednesday.

Collins is the No. 292 overall player and No. 36 athlete in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 38 player from Georgia.

He has visited Auburn twice but has not made a return trip since backing off his pledge to the Crimson Tide.

The 6-foot-3, 241-pounder is being recruited by Auburn tight end coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] who has made Collins a priority since coming to the Plains and has Auburn in a great spot.

Auburn already has three four-star commits in their 2024 recruiting class, quarterback Walker White and cornerbacks Jayden Lewis and A’Mon Lane.

Auburn TE target decommits from Alabama

Auburn would love to steal Martavious Collins from their biggest rival.

One of Auburn’s top tight-end targets is back on the market.

[autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag], a four-star prospect, decommitted from Alabama on Monday. He had been committed to the Crimson Tide since July 20, 2022.

“I would like to thank the whole Alabama staff for what they have done for me since my commitment,” Collins wrote on Twitter. “I truly appreciate everyone on the staff for believing in my talents. I am very grateful for the time and energy invested in me. Much love to the Alabama family and best wishes to all.

After thoughts and prayers, I am going to focus on doing what’s best for my future and my family. With that being said, I believe that it is in my best interest to reopen my recruitment.”

The Rome, Georgia, product is listed as an athlete but Auburn is recruiting him as a tight end. He is the No. 19 athlete and No. 176 overall player in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 27 player from Georgia.

Auburn’s newest commit, four-star quarterback [autotag]Walker White[/autotag], listed Collins as one of the players he wants to bring with him to Auburn.

Collins has unofficially Auburn multiple times and was most recently on campus on Jan. 14. This visit allowed the 6-foot-3, 241-pound Collins to see the new facilities and meet the new staff.

Alabama loses commitment from 2024 TE Martavious Collins

2024 tight end Martavious Collins announced that he was re-opening his recruitment on Monday morning. Collins had been committed to the Crimson Tide since July.

On Monday, 2024 tight end Martavious Collins announced that he was re-opening his recruitment. Collins had been committed to Alabama since July.

This does not come as much of a surprise considering Collins made two unofficial visits to Auburn in recent months. He seemed to be intrigued by the new coaching staff on the Plains.

With Collins’ decommitment, the Crimson Tide will look to hone in on some other tight end prospects. Several that have been offered by the Alabama coaching staff are Trey’Dez Green, JaCorey Whitted, and Colton Heinrich.

Collins’ exit from the class resulted in Alabama dropping from No. 2 to No. 9 in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.

Alabama Morning Drive: Tide adds a pair of football commitments

The Crimson Tide continues to make waves on the recruiting trail.

Good morning, Tide fans! Welcome back to another Thursday edition of Alabama Morning Drive. The weekend is just around the corner, and I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to it!

Wednesday was a big day for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide in terms of the recruiting trail. Not only did the Tide add a talented kicker to the class of 2023 but they also picked up their second commitment for the class of 2024.

[autotag]Conor Talty[/autotag], a kicker from Chicago announced his commitment on Twitter. The class of 2024 addition came from a four-star athlete from Georiga, [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag]. Collins is expected to play tight end in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama lands massive commitment from 2024 TE Martavious Collins

Alabama landed an elite athlete from the 2024 recruiting cycle in tight end Martavious Collins.

Alabama football continues its run of landing promising recruits on Wednesday by landing 2024 tight end, Martavious Collins. He chose the Crimson Tide over other schools like South Carolina, North Carolina State and LSU. The commitment wasn’t much of a surprise as On3’s RPM was heavily in favor of the Tide at 97.3% likelihood. Collins is the second commitment for the ’24 recruiting class. The other commit is Foley High School wide receiver, Perry Thompson.

Collins is listed as both an athlete and tight end depending on the recruiting service. He is listed at 6-foot-3, 241 pounds out of Rome High School in Rome, Georgia. His size could certainly be an issue for opposing teams at the collegiate level, as it could present matchup problems for other defenses. Along with having the size, he also possesses raw athleticism. Collins also competes in track and field at his high school.

His commitment is huge for the 2024 class. When asked by Hank South why he chose the Tide, here is what Collins had to say:

“I picked Alabama because everybody is held to a high standard,” Collins said of his decision. “The competition level, I’ll be competing every day against top-notch people. The practices are different from a lot of colleges I’ve seen. I would love to be a part of those types of workouts and practices.”

2024 TE Martavious Collins releases top schools, Alabama in good position

Alabama lands in top eleven for 2024 TE/ATH Martavious Collins. He is set to commit on July 20.

Alabama seems to be all in on recruiting Martavious Collins, one of the top tight ends of the 2024 class. The native of Rome, Georgia received an offer from the Tide a little over two months ago.

Upon receiving the offer, Collins tweeted, “Blessed to receive an offer from my dream school the University of Alabama.” That could be a good sign of things to come as Collins released his top-11 recently. He is set to announce his commitment on July 20.

The primary recruiters for Collins have been tight ends coach Joe Cox and offensive line coach Eric Wolford. As of right now, On3’s RPM is heavily in favor of Alabama at a 91.4% likelihood. Alabama fans should keep a close eye on his recruitment.

LSU makes 4-star tight end’s final 11

The Tigers could add their second blue-chip tight end in the 2023 class on July 20 when Martavious Collins announces his commitment.

[autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] is a 6-foot-3, 241-pound tight end from Rome, Georgia, who recently announced his final 11 schools. LSU made that list, and he has set a commitment date of July 20.

The Tigers join Alabama, NC State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisville, Cincinnati, Auburn, and Michigan State on the list of finalists. According to On3, NC State is currently the favorite at 30.2%, and there is no Crystal Ball prediction on 247Sports for Collins.

He is ranked as the No. 36 player in the country for the 2023 class by 247Sports, so he would be an incredible pickup for whatever team he decides to play for. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and LSU could definitely use him next season and for years to come as the Tigers are thin at tight end.

[autotag]Mac Markway[/autotag] is currently committed as a four-star tight end for the 2023 class. He and Collins would be a dynamic duo for LSU.
