Tausch’s takeaways from Ohio State loss

The Badgers football team (5-3) lost to Ohio State (8-0) 24-10 in Week 9 at Camp Randall, battling hard against one of the best teams in the nation. Broadcast analyst Mark Tauscher, a former Badger, gave his takeaways from the game.

He highlighted Wisconsin’s ability to fight and scrap and make it a competitive game. He names cornerback Ricardo Hallman, safety Preston Zachman and linebacker Maema Njongmeta as notable defensive players, all of which were on the receiving end of a Buckeyes turnover.

Offensively, Tausch was impressed by quarterback Braedyn Locke’s ability to fire up the fans with a second-half touchdown. There are a lot of great things in the future, which starts Saturday at 11AM on the road at Indiana.

Mark Tauscher gives his Week 4 takeaways

The Badgers football team is coming off of a 38-17 win over Purdue on the road Friday night and radio analyst Mark Tauscher gave his takeaways. Wisconsin won the game, greatly due to the production of their quarterback Tanner Mordecai.

He had 174 passing yards, but the bulk of his impact came on the ground and even through the air. Mordecai had 44 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries while he also added a 19-yard reception. On top of that, he caught a two-point conversion.

The other takeaway centered around a specific defensive play, which you can see in the linked video below.

The Badgers are off this weekend as they have their bye week, but they’ll host Rutgers in their next contest Oct. 7.

WATCH: Badgers analyst takes DL coach for a ride

Coach Scruggs gives his keys to success

Ahead of the team’s Week 4 matchup with Purdue on the road Friday at 6PM, Badgers radio color analyst Mark Tauscher took defensive line coach Greg Scruggs for a ride.

Tauscher asks Scruggs about his opinion on the defense following their 35-14 win over Georgia Southern at home in Week 3. The coach explains how he’s a “crazy coach” and how he wants more from his guys in West Lafayette.

Part of his “keys to success” was the fact that the Badgers need to make the Boilermakers’ quarterback Hudson Card uncomfortable while on offense, utilizing their running backs (Chez Mellusi and Braelon Allen).

Badger Countdown: All-time legend dons number 68

The return of college football is slowly approaching and the Badgers’ opener is now just 68 days away as the team takes on Buffalo at home.

The return of college football is slowly approaching and the Badgers’ opener is now just 68 days away as the team takes on Buffalo at Camp Randall on Sept. 2. The number 68 was worn by an all-time great at Wisconsin.

After joining the team as a walk-on in 1995, it took a couple years for offensive tackle Mark Tauscher to get his shot with the Badgers. It took until 1999 for him to become a starter at right tackle, but he helped lead the way to Ron Dayne’s Heisman campaign.

Wisconsin went on to win the 2000 Rose Bowl in his final game as a Badger, defeating Stanford 17-9 on January 1. The Rose Bowl win was the team’s second consecutive.

Tauscher went on to be selected in the seventh round (224th overall) in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He quickly became a starter during his rookie campaign and he stuck around Green Bay through the 2010 campaign, winning Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 in Feb. 2011.

After retirement, he went into sports broadcasting, still working for both the Badgers and Packers radio networks today!
