8 things to know about the Bills’ Week 14 opponent, the Ravens

Eight things to know about the Buffalo Bills’ Week 14 opponent, the Baltimore Ravens.

The Bills have an upcoming clash that might be the highlight of the NFL’s next slate of games in Week 14.

Not many predicted the Bills (9-3) and Ravens (10-2) would have the records that they have heading into this game.

Alas, here we are, potentially battling for the top spot in the AFC at New Era Field. With such an important matchup in mind, let’s update ourselves on the opponent.

Here are eight things to know about the Bills’ Week 14 opponent, the Ravens:

Lamar a potential MVP?

The easiest place to start on the Ravens is exactly where everyone’s mind is. Quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Like Buffalo’s Josh Allen, Jackson is a dual-threat quarterback but in a much flashier sense. Both players are tough to bring down. Allen has the big body while Jackson has the elusiveness of Michael Vick. With those skills, Jackson leads the Ravens in rushing this season with 977 rushing yards, to go along with 2,532 passing yards. In total, Jackson has 25 passing touchdowns, seven rushing scores, six fumbles and five interceptions. It will be the first Lamar-Josh meeting at quarterback, too.

It’s hard to put into words how good Jackson is. He’s the current frontrunner for the MVP race and the Ravens are the only offense in the NFL to have scored more than 400 points (406) so far this season. Yes, that is good and yes he did this just last week:

4 Ravens to watch vs. 49ers in Week 13

These 4 Baltimore Ravens players will be instrumental to a win or loss against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13, making them guys to watch

The Baltimore Ravens get arguably their toughest test of the 2019 season when they play a clone of themselves in the San Francisco 49ers. With a physical run-first offense and stout defense, both Baltimore and San Francisco will look to beat each other up en route to a Week 13 win.

With the weather conditions playing a factor this week as the wintery mix continues to fall on M&T Bank Stadium, these four Ravens players will have the biggest impact on the final score.

Baltimore tight ends lead the league with four touchdown receptions in the red zone since Week 9, according to Inside Edge. Three of them have gone to Andrews, making him the easy pick here.

Though the field conditions are conducive to a rushing attack, the Ravens would be wise to incorporate a little play-action when they get into the red zone to throw San Francisco off balance and hopefully create some wide-open targets. If they do, Andrews is likely going to be the guy standing uncovered in the end zone.

4 bold predictions for Ravens’ Week 13 vs. 49ers

The writers here at Ravens Wire predict another big game from Baltimore’s offense over the San Francisco 49ers defense.

The Baltimore Ravens have been blowing up teams en route to a seven-game winning streak. The offense is playing even better than earlier in the season, dismantling some of the top defenses in the league. Baltimore’s defense has been aggressive and productive in shutting down some very talented offenses. The end result has been lopsided wins over playoff-caliber teams.

Turn to Week 13 and the Ravens are taking on the San Francisco 49ers. Arguably the best team in the NFC, Baltimore has a very tough test ahead of them. But the writers here at Ravens Wire believe it’ll be another big game for Baltimore’s offense with our bold predictions.

Jackson has gotten better in every game this season in spite of playing better defenses. Though many expect Jackson to finally face his match against the 49ers, San Francisco doesn’t have any special weapons the last 11 teams haven’t had and he’s burned through those defenses easily enough. The same thing happens this week as the 49ers think they can contain Jackson but watch him run around them and pile up more touchdowns through the air en route to another victory.

3 matchups that will decide 49ers – Ravens showdown

The 49ers move to the second step of their three-game stretch of teams .800 or better with a visit to Baltimore.

The 49ers visit Baltimore on Sunday for the second phase of their three-game stretch against teams with winning percentages of .800 or better. They’ll have a tough task trying to slow down the highest-scoring offense in the league, led by quarterback Lamar Jackson. San Francisco’s offense also faces a tall task against a Ravens defense that’s allowed just 11.5 points per game in their last four.

Here are the three matchups that matter most in Baltimore:

Robert Saleh vs. Lamar Jackson

Saleh will have to figure out how to do something not many teams have been able to this season: put together a game plan to slow down Jackson. Slowing him is the key to keeping Baltimore from racking up 30-plus points–  something they’ve done six times this season.

If there’s any defensive coordinator that can do it, it’s Saleh. Saleh was able to put together a plan last week that held Aaron Rodgers to just 104 passing yards and his worst-ever yards per attempt. It could be game of adjustments for Saleh and the defense, but they’ll need to play their best game of the season against Jackson and company.

Richard Sherman vs. Marquise Brown

Brown has been Jackson’s second-favorite target behind Mark Andrews, but Brown is by far his most explosive. It’s not easy to beat Sherman. Speed is one way teams have tried to attack the 31-year-old. Sherman has also had a penalty issue the past couple of weeks with five penalties, including three pass interferences, against Arizona and Green Bay. Sherman can thwart Brown’s speed with physicality, but that opens him up to those flags coming out.

Fred Warner vs. Mark Ingram

Lost in Jackson’s MVP-caliber season is Mark Ingram’s importance to the Ravens’ offense. Ingram is averaging a whopping 5.2 yards per carry and has nine rushing touchdowns. The 49ers have struggled against the run game all season, allowing 100 or more yards on the ground in nine of their 11 games. Warner has been good against the run while putting together an All-Pro caliber season in the middle of the 49ers’ defense. He has a team-high 81 tackles and six tackles for loss. Not only will Warner be important against a running Jackson, but also Ingram while trying to contain the league’s best running team.

Ravens’ Mark Ingram shows out on Monday night against Rams

Ingram finished the game with 15 carries for 111 yards and a TD, as well as having a 7 yd TD reception.

During Monday night’s 45-6 beatdown of the Los Angeles Rams, Mark Ingram put on a show for the Baltimore Ravens.

Ingram finished the game with 15 carries for 111 yards and a TD, as well as having a 7 yd TD reception.

Ingram, who spent 8 seasons with the New Orleans Saints, joined the Ravens in March of 2019, and has become a big part of the offense’s success.

So far this season, Ingram has over 770 yards rushing and 9 TDs.

Former Saints Mark Ingram, Willie Snead piledrive Rams with four Ravens TD’s

The Los Angeles Rams needed to win on Monday night to keep their playoff hopes alive, but two former New Orleans Saints players weren’t about to let that happen. Now with the Baltimore Ravens, running back Mark Ingram and wide receiver Willie Snead scored four touchdowns on the overwhelmed Rams defense; three of those touchdowns were passes caught from breakout star quarterback Lamar Jackson. Baltimore won in a landslide, 45-6.

You love to see it. The Rams of course took advantage of an officiating gaffe in last year’s NFC championship game to advance past the Saints and into Super Bowl LIII; they lost that game in humiliating fashion, 13-3, and haven’t recovered. There was no one more suited to bury their hopes on a national stage than Ingram, who logged 15 rushing attempts to gain 111 yards and score a touchdown run, to go with his 7-yard touchdown reception. Snead only caught two passes against Los Angeles, but they both ended in the end zone from seven yards out.

Of course Saints fans would rather Ingram be scoring touchdowns in New Orleans; it’s a shame that they couldn’t work out a deal in free agency earlier this year. At least he’s having a blast and taking down teams that have given the Saints trouble. Ingram is averaging the second-most rushing yards per game of his career (70.7) with Baltimore, trailing only his 2014 season, in which he first reached the Pro Bowl.

As for the Rams: this loss lowered their record on the year so far to 6-5, putting them firmly in third-place in the NFC West behind the San Francisco 49ers (10-1) and Seattle Seahawks (9-2). Considering two different NFC North are currently in the playoff picture (the 8-3 Green Bay Packers and 8-3 Minnesota Vikings), the Rams can’t afford to lose another game down the stretch to even make it to the postseason. Meanwhile, the Saints are a game away from clinching their third consecutive NFC South title. Things are great.

Mark Ingram calls for Lamar Jackson MVP, remains best hype man in football

“If you’ve got a problem, come see me.”

Mark Ingram is still the NFL’s best hype man.

Last week, the Baltimore Ravens running back led “MVP!” chants from the sidelines in support of Lamar Jackson, who had himself a day against the Cincinnati Bengals. He then took to the podium and told the media Jackson was “the MVP frontrunner” and “If anybody else got to say something different about that they can come see me.” It was so much fun.

After Monday’s game in which Jackson was once again unstoppable, Ingram was once again in front of mics, telling the world not to doubt Jackson as the league’s MVP:

“If you’ve got a problem, come see me. Just run that back from last week. It’s all I’m gonna say. Man, people been trying me, but they can’t validate their opinions. So L.J. for MVP.”

7 studs, no duds from Ravens’ 45-6 win vs. Rams

The Baltimore Ravens blew out the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12 but these seven players are deserving of special recognition for their play

The Baltimore Ravens once again were doubted entering the week. And once again, they handled their business by beating the Los Angeles Rams 45-6 in Week 12.

With such a lopsided score, I can’t in good conscience say any player on Baltimore’s roster was a dud. Even if I could pick out a player that didn’t have an amazing game, not a single Ravens player had a dud-worthy performance. So I present, the seven biggest studs of Baltimore’s Week 12 win over Los Angeles.

Stud: QB, Lamar Jackson

Jackson started the game 9-of-9 for 87 yards and three touchdown passes. His first six runs went for 80 yards and yet another highlight-reel addition. Jackson being perfect to start the game was why they got out to such a large lead and were able to coast.

Jackson finished the game early in this blowout, giving way to backup Robert Griffin III in the fourth quarter. Jackson’s night ended with him completing 15-of-20 passes for 169 yards, five touchdown throws, no interceptions and a 139.4 passer rating. He added 95 yards on just eight runs.

Against a very talented defense, Jackson made sure he’ll earn a unanimous MVP award this season.

Lamar Jackson threads the needle to RB Mark Ingram for another TD vs. Rams

A quick TD pass to running back Mark Ingram gives Lamar Jackson his third game with at least 4 touchdown passes.

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense is continuing to put in the work. After scoring touchdowns on each of their drives during the first half, the Ravens just opened up the second half with a drive that ended with yet another touchdown to bring the score to 35-6.

Mark Ingram ran outside before making a quick cut in to catch a pass that Jackson squeezed in between two defenders and running it in for Jackson’s fourth touchdown pass of the night and Ingram’s second total touchdown.

This the third game this season where Jackson has thrown at least four touchdown passes, with his other efforts coming against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 and the Houston Texans in Week 11.

Lamar Jackson dazzles again with a 29-yard run on botched play

Lamar Jackson continues to dazzle, as he broke off a 29 yard run but couldn’t get out of his own way down to the one yard line

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has dazzled time and time again throughout his early NFL career. Seemingly every week, Jackson has been adding highlight-reel runs and throws. Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams is definitely no exception.

Jackson initially dropped the snap on the ground. When he picked it up, he felt pressure and took off running with open field ahead of him. Weaving in and out of defenders down the field, Jackson got tripped up by the turf and rolled to the goal line.

This shows just how electric Jackson is and how he affects the defenses. The Rams came into this game trying to contain Jackson from running around them. But with the running backs picking up yards inside and Jackson starting the game perfect through the air, Los Angeles backed off to try and stop getting beat by Jackson’s arm. It left the middle of the field wide open and a huge hole for Jackson to run through. Once in the open field, Jackson is nearly unstoppable.

It didn’t matter that Jackson couldn’t finish the job himself, as Mark Ingram pounded the ball into the end zone on the very next play.

As Jackson continues to rack up highlight plays, Baltimore’s offense continues to rack up points. The Ravens are dominating the Rams in every facet of the game, and if this continues, we might see Jackson resting on the sideline for another fourth quarter.
