WATCH: Best of Peyton and Eli on ‘Monday Night Football’ in Week 1

Peyton and Eli are a great duo!

The Denver Broncos lost to the Seattle Seahawks 17-16 in heartbreaking fashion in Week 1, but if it’s any consolation to fans in Denver, former quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning provided some hilarious entertainment during their ManningCast broadcast of the Monday Night Football showdown.

Check out the highlights from Peyton and Eli’s broadcast in the above video, courtesy of the NFL’s official YouTube page.

The brothers will call nine more MNF games later this season.

Peyton Manning was not happy with Broncos’ late-game decision vs. Seahawks

We agree with Peyton Manning!

While Joe Buck and Troy Aikman handled ESPN’s main coverage of a Monday Night Football showdown between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, former quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning called an alternate broadcast of the game on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

Monday marked the first time Peyton Manning has called a Broncos game, and it was easy to see that he still feels closely connected to the team that he won Super Bowl 50 with following the 2015 season.

Late in the game, Denver was trailing 17-16 with about a minute left near midfield. Instead of taking a timeout early and setting up quarterback Russell Wilson up with a fourth-and-five, coach Nathaniel Hackett opted to let the clock run down and then attempt a 64-yard field goal.

Here’s how Manning reacted in real time:

Most Broncos fans felt the same way. It was a questionable decision from Hackett. Brandon McManus had the distance on his attempt but it hooked left and the Broncos lost by one point in their season opener.

Manning stood up to watch the field goal attempt.

Maybe the Broncos should consider hiring Peyton as a consultant. He’s certainly invested in the team.

Jets get crushed by Peyton Manning on ManningCast: ‘You can’t throw 59 times in the opener’

Peyton Manning took a shot at the Jets during Monday’s ManningCast

The New York Jets threw the football 59 times in their loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. That’s almost never a good sign in a football game when you have to throw it that many times.

It also made for the perfect joke material for Peyton Manning during the ManningCast Monday night during the Broncos-Seahawks game.

“Well, the Jets threw it 59 times and that worked out well for them,” Peyton joked while Eli was enjoying every minute. “They looked good.”

“Wow, shots fired early,” Eli replied.

“You can’t throw it 59 times in the opener,” Manning said. “You can’t throw it 59 times in the opener, you can’t do it.”

“With your backup quarterback? It’s illegal?” Eli asked.

“Guaranteed you’re not going to win,” Peyton proclaimed.

Just be careful, Peyton. Robert Saleh is keeping receipts of anyone mocking the Jets.

Saquon Barkley is tempting fate by appearing on the Broncos-Seahawks ManningCast guest list

BEWARE THE MANNINGCAST CURSE!

Last season, the ManningCast Curse was a thing.

Any active NFL player who appeared on the ESPN Monday Night Football alternative broadcast starring Peyton and Eli Manning would then have a rough week afterwards.

You would think that would stop current NFLers from coming on the air with the Mannings in 2022, but NOPE: New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will be the first guest on the opening-night ManningCast.

He’ll be followed by the always-entertaining Joel McHale (and huge Seahawks fan!) and Shannon Sharpe as the second and third guests for the Denver Broncos’ matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Here’s the announcement:

ManningCast schedule: 10 NFL games on deck for Eli and Peyton in 2022

Eli and Peyton Manning will return for 10 Monday Night Football games on ESPN2 this season, including the Cowboys-Giants matchup in Week 3.

Retired New York Giants great Eli Manning and his older brother, Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, took the NFL world by storm a year ago. Their alternate version of the ESPN Monday Night Football broadcast — known as the ManningCast — became one of the most influential shows on television.

The ManningCast transcended the game of football and established itself as a must-watch pop culture phenomenon.

For that reason, it should come as little surprise that ESPN has opted not only to extend the ManningCast through the 2024 regular season, but expand upon it.

Here in 2022, the Manning duo will call 10 games on ESPN2 and ESPN+ with all 10 being officially announced on Thursday.

NFL Week Date MNF Game Network

The nine-episode ManningCast averaged 1.6 million viewers per episode in 2021, shattering ESPN’s alternative broadcast records in the process. Their most-watched episode came in Week 8 when the New York Giants visited the Kansas City Chiefs. That broadcast drew a whopping 1.96 million viewers.

Eli, Peyton and ESPN expect even bigger numbers during their 10-game series this season.

Peyton Manning, Eli Manning ‘ManningCast’ to cover two Saints prime-time games

Peyton Manning, Eli Manning ‘ManningCast’ to cover two Saints prime-time games in 2022:

While the prime-time Monday Night Football games will be shown as usual on ESPN this season (with the newly-acquired Joe Buck and Troy Aikman heading broadcasts), fans can also tune in to ESPN2 for an alternate broadcast featuring Peyton Manning and Eli Manning — former NFL quarterbacks and sons of legendary New Orleans Saints passer Archie Manning, plus an assortment of special guests.

Peyton Manning, who lost Super Bowl XLIV to the Saints, will lead these broadcasts with his younger brother Eli Manning, who threw six touchdown passes against New Orleans and still lost back in 2015. Their Omaha Productions company puts these widely-viewed shows together in partnership with ESPN. And the Saints will be featured twice on this big stage — first in their Week 9 home game with the Baltimore Ravens, and again in Week 13 for their road tilt with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both kickoffs figure to feature an electric atmosphere.

So that should contrast nicely with the significantly more laid-back “ManningCast,” where both brothers typically take in the game from couches or reclining chairs while interviewing their famous teammates, rivals, and peers from around pro football’s orbit. It’s an entertaining, occasionally insightful, and very popular program, so it’s cool to see the Saints on their radar.

Russell Wilson ends appearance on Manningcast with ‘Go Hawks’

Wilson didn’t say much about his future in the NFL, but he did close off with his signature “Go Hawks” mantra.

Russell Wilson isn’t acting like a player who’s angling to get traded. The Seahawks’ franchise quarterback was a guest on last night’s Manningcast during the Rams’ blowout Wild Card win over the Cardinals.

Wilson didn’t say much about his future in the NFL, but he did close off with his signature “Go Hawks” mantra.

Over the weekend, Ian Rapoport at NFL Network reported that Wilson wants to “explore his options” this offseason.

With two years left on his contract and the Seahawks saying they’re not trading him, those options are fairly limited.

Peyton Manning, Dwayne Johnson tell stories about Ray Lewis on ‘ManningCast’

Peyton Manning and Dwayne Johnson shared stories of former Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis on the “ManningCast”

The first weekend of the 2021 NFL playoffs were a success as “Wild Card Weekend” wrapped up on Monday night with a Los Angeles Rams win over the Arizona Cardinals. The game was broadcast on ESPN and ABC, but an alternative form to watch the game was available in the “ManningCast”, which featured former NFL quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Eli Manning breaking down the game as they were joined by guests throughout the night.

One of the high-profile guests to come on the broadcast was former football player and wrestling star Dwayne Johnson. While talking about some of Johnson’s wrestling moves, the older Manning brother told a story about how former Baltimore Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis would drive him into the ground and have a parting message for him as he got up, to which Johnson followed with a story about Lewis of his own during their time at the University of Miami.

Lewis left a lasting impression on the game of football, and it’s shown in many different ways, including in the stories that both Manning and Johnson told. He was an extremely hard worker that expected greatness out of himself and those around him, and it was great to hear multiple different angles of memories that people hold of the Hall of Fame linebacker.

Eli Manning wore the Death Row chain Snoop Dogg gave him on Monday’s ManningCast

Eli Manning and Snoop Dogg’s friendship is everything.

The friendship between Eli Manning and Snoop Dogg is an unlikely one, but it’s a wonderful one nonetheless.

During Monday’s ManningCast of the NFL’s wild card weekend matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals, Manning was rocking a particular set of bling. Astute viewers would remember this to be the Death Row chain Snoop gifted Manning for his 41st birthday in early January on an earlier ManningCast.

And now, Manning finally has his chain as Snoop came through and delivered on his promise! Here’s Manning rocking the chain during the broadcast, standing out prominently on his gray sweater.

And here’s Manning unboxing the chain earlier in the day in a wonderful little video.

What a wholesome conclusion to the final ManningCast of the NFL season. Just an absolute delight.
