Browns land thumping LB in 7-round 2024 NFL draft mock

The Browns get Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah a new running mate while also addressing the wide receiver position here!

Will the Cleveland Browns finally take a linebacker like Junior Colson early in the 2024 NFL draft? Could a name like Malachi Corley help round out their ailing wide receiver room with a talented rookie?

Now that the season has officially come to a close, we turn fully to the offseason with free agency and the 2024 NFL draft next up for the Browns. For the 11-6 Browns, who will look to keep their competitive window open, this means finding ways to improve their wide receiver room, while sprinkling in pieces elsewhere on their roster.

This is their last year without a first round pick, sitting with a second, a third, two fifths, two sixth, and a seventh round pick. This is plenty of ammunition to make some noise, as general Andrew Berry has been able to land talents like Martin Emerson Jr., Alex Wright, Dawand Jones, and more with just middle-round picks.

What can they scratch and claw together here in this seven-round mock draft?

Many top prospects opt out of playing in the Senior Bowl

Many top prospects opt out of playing in the Senior Bowl after participating in practices during the week

The 2024 Senior Bowl week capped off with Saturday’s game in Mobile. The three days of practices at the home of hte University of South Alabama saw over 100 potential NFL draft prospects work out under the watchful eyes of NFL evaluators from all 32 teams as well as hundreds of media members.

Alas, many of those players chose not to play in the actual game, which the National team won 16-7 over the American team. There were various reasons for not playing; some players suffered injuries during the week, while others opted to stand on what positives they’d accomplished in practices.

Among the most notable prospects who were in practices during the week but didn’t participate in the Senior Bowl game itself:

UCLA EDGE Laiatu Latu

Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.

Michigan WR Roman Wilson

Oregon OL Jackson Powers-Johnson

Oregon State OT Taliese Fuaga

North Carolina State LB Payton Wilson

Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell

Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley

Those who didn’t play gave more opportunities to those who did get into the Senior Bowl game on Saturday. As an example, with Penix sitting out, Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman played almost the entire game for the National team.

8 standouts from the 2024 Senior Bowl

These eight prospects shined at the Senior Bowl.

We know the Indianapolis Colts kept a keen eye on the Senior Bowl throughout the week of practice ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, and there were plenty of standouts who likely caught the team’s attention.

Though the scouting department has been hard at work since the fall, the majority of the front office is just now getting to know this crop of prospects. Over the next few months, the big board will be finalized, and the Senior Bowl will play a major role in that development.

After the week of practice concluded, the game itself takes place Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET and will air on NFL Network.

Here’s a look at eight standouts from the 2024 Senior Bowl:

Browns attack the offensive line, wide receiver in 7-round 2024 NFL draft mock

How will the Browns attack the 2024 NFL draft?

The Cleveland Browns will upgrade the offensive line and wide receiver room in the 2024 NFL draft. Could Brigham Young’s Kingsley Suamataia and Western Kentucky’s Malachi Corley be the antidote?

With the Senior Bowl taking place this week draft season is fully upon us as prospects begin the process of proving themself before the draft kicks off in April. The Browns’ approach this year will be interesting as they have some interesting decisions to make on the offensive side of the ball.

Will the team move on from Amari Cooper or Nick Chubb and do they believe Jedrick Wills Jr. will get an extension? This is a great year to need both an offensive tackle and a wide receiver and the Browns will likely look to add to both rooms at some point in the draft.

We have seen over the past few seasons that Andrew Berry focuses more on the future in the draft and not always on immediate needs. Let’s take a look at what the draft could look like if they prioritize the offense early this April in Detroit.

5 WR prospects for the Browns to target in the 2024 NFL draft

It’s a good year to draft a wide receiver

The Cleveland Browns need help in their wide receiver room, and Malachi Corley or Xavier Worthy may just have the answer in the 2024 NFL draft.

There have been plenty of talented wide receiver prospects in the past few drafts, but this year’s class takes the crown. From top to bottom, you can find playmakers in every round that have the upside to be immediate contributors at the next level.

It is the last year the Browns will be without their first round pick due to the Deshaun Watson trade, with their first pick coming at with the 55th overall pick. There will be plenty of options still left on the board for Cleveland as Andrew Berry will look to make the passing offense more dynamic for the 2024 season.

It will come down to what skillset they target in the draft. They need to add a young field stretcher to do what they had hoped Marquise Goodwin would give them in 2023.

Here are five wide receiver prospects the Browns could have on their radar in the 2024 NFL draft.
