Former Alabama players get their Madden 21 rookie rankings

Three former members of the Crimson Tide get their Madden 21 rookie rankings!

As the 2020 NFL draft came and went, the football season is still some time away. However, Alabama fans can still find a way to talk about some Crimson Tide products through EA’s Madden 21.

The rankings for the rookie class were released, meaning players and fans can argue, or praise, the video game’s evaluations.

Included in the rankings are former Alabama stars such as Tua Tagovailoa, Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy.

Here’s how they are ranked heading into their rookie season with their respective teams:

The former Alabama wide receiver, now a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, was the first receiver taken in the 2020 NFL draft, and Madden corroborated this achievement by making him the highest rated rookie receiver in the draft class, as well as giving him the highest speed rating among 2020 rookies.

Here’s how he’s ranked:

OVR (Overall): 76

SPD (Speed): 98

ACC (Acceleration): 97

STR (Strength): 61

AGI (Agility): 87

AWR (Awareness): 69

CTH (Catching): 83

CAR (Carrying): 73

THP (Throw Power): 51

Ravens WRs Devin Duvernay, James Proche get ‘Madden 21’ ratings

The Baltimore Ravens’ two newest wide receivers have pretty great grades in “Madden 21,” making Baltimore’s offense even more deadly.

For those fans patiently waiting for “Madden 21” to be released, it’s all about watching and re-watching the gameplay trailers, looking at the cover that features Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and hoping to get into the closed BETA launch of the game. But as we get closer to the day you can buy the game in stores, EA Sports is trickling out updated player ratings for fans to obsess over.

EA Sports released the first batch of “Madden 21″ rookie player ratings, giving grades out to the wide receivers and quarterbacks. For the Ravens’ two rookie wide receivers, it means finally seeing where they stand.

The Ravens selected Devin Duvernay in the third round and James Proche in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. While Duvernay rates higher, getting a 71 overall player rating, Proche isn’t really that far behind with a 65 overall rating. But let’s take a closer look at how they rank in some specific categories.

[protected-iframe id=”f5f5201ca7d48da96b13ef6d8fb20124-105974752-88840239″ info=”https://www.ea.com/player-ratings-card” class=”ea-player-ratings-iframe”]

[protected-iframe id=”7014c7f1837188948f7dadbb522ba072-105974752-88840239″ info=”https://www.ea.com/player-ratings-card” class=”ea-player-ratings-iframe”]

Both Duvernay and Proche are speed demons, given their 92 and 88 speed ratings in the game. It’s also no surprise that both players have above average short-route-running grades as well. But what might be most impressive is the 78 and 82 catch-in-traffic ratings Proche and Duvernay have. Both were used extensively in the slot in college and project to be quick-hitting options for Jackson in Baltimore, meaning their ability to catch the ball in the middle of the field where hits are often coming immediately afterward will pay huge dividends for “Madden 21” players as well as for Jackson in real life.

Duvernay and Proche look like great digital additions for the Ravens, teaming up with Marquise Brown, Miles Boykin, and Willie Snead to create a pretty interesting and capable wide receiver corps. When combined with tight end Mark Andrews and the bevy of running backs Baltimore has on the roster, the Ravens’ offense looks as deadly as ever. And as we saw with Marquise Brown at the controls, Baltimore’s offense was already championship-worthy in last season’s edition of the video game franchise.

Check out Washington’s rookie WR Antonio Gandy-Golden’s Madden ratings

Gandy-Golden had his Madden ratings released, which have him in the mid-to-upper 80s for most relevant categories despite 69 overall rating.

While it means very little for real life and production on the field, players and fans alike have a lot of fun with the EA Sports Madden ratings that come out each season.

This year, with a new crop of rookies added to the league, and an unusual downtime for the sports world at large, the ratings are being released by ESPN starting on July 13th. However, a few rookie ratings have already been revealed in sparring fashion. For Washington, WR Antonio Gandy-Golden is the only rookie to have his numbers released just yet. Here is how they stand.

  • Overall: 69
  • Speed: 86
  • Acceleration: 88
  • Strength: 70
  • Agility: 80
  • Awareness: 66
  • Catching: 82
  • Carrying: 77

Not too bad for a fourth-rounder, but I’m sure there are a number of things that AGG would argue should be higher. The rookie will definitely have a chance to boost those numbers in the 2020 season.

Madden 21: What is Bills QB Jake Fromm rated?

Rating in Madden 21 for Buffalo Bills quarterback Jake Fromm revealed.

While world-wide circumstances via the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has us worried about whether or not the NFL will go on as planned, we know one thing that will go on regardless, Madden 21.

The latest chapter of EA Sports’ NFL game is coming. The gaming company has also teamed up with the world-wide leader, ESPN, to make things a little more fun this year.

ESPN will start releasing the oft-watched player ratings day-by-day starting next week on July 13. But on Thursday, we got a sneak preview that the Bills were part of.

A very small grouping of players on the game have had their ratings released: Rookie QBs.

Step on up, Jake Fromm.

Buffalo made Fromm a surprising fifth-round pick of the team at the 2020 NFL Draft. He’s going to battle for a backup quarterback spot on the team, along with Matt Barkley. Josh Allen will continue as QB1.

In terms of Fromm in Madden, overall, he earned a rating of 62. There’s some good news about that.

Overall, Fromm is the seventh-highest rated rookie quarterback. At the actual draft, he was the eighth quarterback selected. No QB drafted after Fromm ranks above him. The one that Fromm did jump rating-wise is James Morgan, who was selected in the fourth-round by the Jets.

Sorry, Gang Green.

The top rookie thrower comes as no surprise, No.1 overall pick for the Bengals, Joe Burrow. He’s a 76 overall. Following him is Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa. Then a little surprise at the top, just as there was at the actual draft.

The Packers shocked the NFL by using their first-round pick, No.26 overall, on quarterback Jordan Love. Madden liked that pick slightly better than the Chargers’ No. 6 overall pick, quarterback Justin Herbert. Love slightly outranks Herbert, 71 to 70.

Check out a couple of Fromm’s ratings below:

Chargers QB Justin Herbert’s initial ‘Madden 21’ rating revealed

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is the fourth-highest rated rookie quarterback in Madden 21.

The highly anticipated video game, EA Sport’s Madden 21 is a little over month away from being released.

Leading up into the launch, player ratings will be unveiled. On Thursday, rookie quarterbacks ratings were released by former NFL quarterback and Hall of Famer Steve Young.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert will have a 70 overall rating in his first season, marking the fourth-highest rated rookie quarterback, trailing Joe Burrow (78), Tua Tagovailoa (73) and Jordan Love (71).

Here’s a glance at Herbert’s other significant ratings:

· 82 speed

· 87 acceleration

· 71 strength

· 80 agility

· 70 awareness

· 69 carrying

· 92 throwing power

· 59 tackle breaking

· 82 jumping

· 88 injury

· 86 stamina

· 88 toughness

· 58 trucking

· 72 change of direction

· 80 ball-carrier vision

· 62 stiff-arm

· 58 spin move

· 72 juke move

· 71 sack breaking

· 78 throwing under pressure

· 83 short accuracy

· 78 medium accuracy

· 76 deep accuracy

· 84 play-action

· 81 throw on the run

Herbert has the size, athleticism and arm things, but there are some things needed to be worked on, including his decision-making and instincts under pressure, before he takes the reins.

Herbert, along with the rest of the team’s draft class, have yet to sign their rookie deals.

Titans QB Cole McDonald’s Madden 21 ratings revealed

Cole McDonald should be fun to use in Madden 21 based on his speed rating alone.

With Madden 21 set to be released on August 25, ratings for players are slowly being revealed, with rookie quarterbacks being up first — and Tennessee Titans quarterback Cole McDonald is obviously part of that group.

McDonald is tied atop the list of rookie quarterbacks in both speed (86) and acceleration (89), but his overall rating of 60 is in the middle of the pack.

Here’s a look at the most important ratings for McDonald, courtesy of the Madden 21 official site.

Speed: 86

Acceleration: 89

Agility: 80

Throw Power: 80

Throw Accuracy Short: 78

Throw Accuracy Medium: 75

Throw Accuracy Deep: 73

Play Action: 68

Throw on the Run: 78

Throw Under Pressure: 67

Stamina: 79

Toughness: 87

Based on McDonald’s speed rating alone, the Hawaii product could be some fun to play with. All in all, those ratings aren’t too bad to start for a seventh-round pick, and all ratings are updated as necessary during the season.

Of the rookie quarterbacks, Cincinnati Bengals signal-caller Joe Burrow has the highest overall (76), followed by the Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa (73), the Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love (71), the San Diego Chargers’ Justin Herbert (70) and the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts (68).

McDonald is set to compete for the Titans’ backup quarterback job behind Ryan Tannehill with Logan Woodside in training camp — and it’s a competition that should add a little spice to the team’s preseason.

Packers rookie Jordan Love is rated much lower in ‘Madden 21’ than he expected

Packers QB Jordan Love is rated a 71 overall in “Madden 21,” making him the third highest-rated rookie QB in the upcoming game.

Green Bay Packers rookie quarterback Jordan Love will have to earn the respect of the “Madden” rating adjusters.

In a video with Pro Football Hall of Famer Steve Young, Love guessed his overall rating in the upcoming game “Madden 21” would be an 81, but Young revealed it to be only a 71.

“Dang,” Love said in response.

Love is the third-highest rated rookie quarterback, trailing Joe Burrow (78) and Tua Tagovailoa (73). Love does have a higher overall rating than Justin Herbert, the sixth overall pick who is only a 70 overall.

Love has 81 speed and 86 acceleration, highlighting his athleticism, and 90 throwing power, 89 touch, 81 deep ball accuracy and 81 throwing on the run, but only 65 awareness.

The Packers are hoping he has high developmental potential behind Aaron Rodgers and can become the team’s next star quarterback once the team decides to make the transition to Love, the 26th overall pick in the 2020 draft.

The Packers recently signed Love to a fully guaranteed rookie deal that includes a fifth-year team option.
