Texas cracks the top schools for five-star PF Ronald Holland

Texas is squarely in the mix for another elite talent.

Chris Beard is in hot pursuit of one of the top players in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Five-star power forward Ronald Holland announced his top options for his recruitment. Texas made the cut along with Arkansas, Kentucky, UCLA and the NBA G League.

Holland ranks as the No. 1 player in the state of Texas and the No. 9 overall prospect in the nation for the 2023 class. 247Sports’ Brandon Jenkins spoke highly of Holland’s skill set in his scouting report.

Holland has a high motor to go along with good mobility, length, and agility. He runs the floor and changes ends well. Holland is both very active and versatile defensively. He is capable of impacting the game in a number of ways, but his ability to crash the glass maybe his biggest strength. He has worked on his shooting mechanics as they have progressed since his arrival in high school. He needs to continue to develop in that area of his game. A young prospect for his class, Holland’s upside will be based upon his mindset and dedication in improving his craft.

The Duncanville product is expected to make a visit to Texas in Sept. to take part in a huge recruiting weekend with Alabama football coming to town.

Texas is squarely in the mix for another elite talent after signing two five-stars in its 2022 signing class.

Texas lands commitment from four-star PG Rowan Brumbaugh

Chris Beard adds another piece to Texas’ 2022 recruiting class.

Chris Beard and staff have struck again on the recruiting trail as four-star point guard Rowan Brumbaugh announced his commitment to Texas on Thursday.

Texas did a fantastic job maintaining a good relationship with Brumbaugh after his original commitment to Northwestern and it paid off.

The 6-foot-4 guard from Mass. chose the Horns over Northwestern, Georgetown and Kansas.

Brumbaugh is a skilled ball handler with a keen ability to find open teammates. He could even see early playing time as Texas will be losing a few guards after this season.

247sports composite has Brumbaugh ranked as the No. 11 point guard and the No. 85 overall player in the class of 2022.

Brumbaugh joins five-star point guard Arterio Morris and five-star forward Dillon Mitchell in Texas’ recruiting class.

The future looks bright for Texas’ basketball program.

Five-star power forward Daimion Collins announces top five

Daimion Collins has announced a top five of KU, UK, OU, UT, and Texas Tech. The five-star has been one of UT’s top targets in the 2021 class.

Daimion Collins, a 2021 power forward recruit, has announced a top five of Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech. A five-star prospect, Collins has been one of the Longhorns’ top targets in the 2021 class.

Listed at 6-9 and 210 pounds, Collins is the No. 5 power forward in the country. Nationally, he ranks as the No. 19 player in the country and is the No. 2 prospect in the state of Texas, only behind Stanford commit Harrison Ingram.

Collins is seen as an elite player around the rim offensively and defensively. Not only can he block shots but good hands mixed with strength makes him an elite down low scorer.

According to the 247Sports crystal ball, the battle for Collins will be between Red River rivals in Texas and Oklahoma. The Sooners have three predictions with a confidence level of seven. A selection was made by Nick Harris, a Texas insider, as recently as Sept. 25.

Shaka Smart’s 2021 recruiting class if off to a hot start, already ranked No. 2 in the Big 12. Four-star combo guard Emarion Ellis leads the way as the top player from the state of Iowa.

Collins will be the big-time recruit Smart needs to land to complete the class. The sixth-year head coach has worked with big men in the past to send them directly into the NBA lottery.
