WATCH: Michigan State basketball commit Jeremy Fears with a fancy finish

MSU PG commit Jeremy Fears showed his skill set with this fancy play:

Jeremy Fears was the first player in the 2023 recruiting class to commit to Michigan State and Tom Izzo. Fears, a top-26 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, is a very highly regarded point guard and was a very good get by the Michigan State staff.

Fears, a member of the La Lumiere School, was in the national high school basketball playoffs this week. In their matchup with the IMG Academy, Fears showed why he is such a highly regarded recruit in the class.

Michigan State basketball lands top 2023 PG Jeremy Fears Jr.

Michigan State has their first 2023 commit in the form of top-ranked PG Jeremy Fears Jr.

Tom Izzo has kicked off his 2023 recruiting class with a bang, landing highly ranked point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. The Spartans beat out Illinois and Michigan to earn the commitment of Fears.

Fears announced his decision on ESPNU during halftime of his high school basketball game.

Fears is originally a native of Joliet, Illinois, but is playing his high school basketball at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, the same school that former Spartan Jaren Jackson Jr. attended.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Fears ranks as the No. 27 overall player in the country and No. 7 point guard, giving him one of the highest 4-star statuses possible. There is a strong possibility he will move to 5-star status in future rankings updates.

Many in the high school basketball and AAU world believe Fears will eventually be a first-round NBA draft pick and a star at the collegiate level.

Fears is the first commit in Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting class and he is certainly a big-time recruiting win that Tom Izzo will look to parlay into more recruiting success in the 2023 class.
