Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney underwent knee procedure on Tuesday

Kadarius Toney’s status for Week 1 of the #Chiefs’ 2023 campaign is officially in question after Andy Reid’s comments to the media on Tuesday.

Wide receiver Kadarius Toney was slated to be Patrick Mahomes’ top target in the Kansas City Chiefs offense to start the 2023 season, but after he suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s practice session, his outlook for the immediate future is officially in question.

Andy Reid told the media after Tuesday’s workouts that Toney underwent a procedure to clean up cartilage in his knee, and that there was a “chance” that the receiver would be ready for Week 1.

This is not the news that Chiefs fans wanted to receive after Toney’s injury earlier in the week, but given the team’s newfound depth at wideout, the grim report on his status doesn’t seem as concerning.

Toney’s absence will pave the way for standout rookie Rashee Rice and veteran playmaker Richie James to get more snaps with the first-team offense, helping them build chemistry with Mahomes ahead of the regular season kickoff in September.

REPORT: Kadarius Toney expected to return from injury before regular season

Kadarius Toney went down with a knee injury during the #Chiefs’ Sunday practice session and is likely to return before the regular season.

The Kansas City Chiefs may have dodged a bullet after a recent injury to receiver Kadarius Toney kept fans on edge after the team’s first training camp practice on Sunday.

According to a report, Toney aggravated a knee injury that required him to undergo a clean-up procedure in the offseason, and while he is expected to miss some time in training camp, early indications are that he will be ready to play when the regular season starts in September.

Toney is no stranger to injuries, which defined his time with the New York Giants early in his career before Kansas City acquired him via trade last year. He missed time with the Chiefs during their 2022 campaign, but made a triumphant return in the playoffs, helping Kansas City secure their Super Bowl LVII title in February with a now-iconic punt return.

Keep a close eye on Toney’s status moving forward, as his absence could give rookie Rashee Rice more opportunities for snaps in practice and the preseason ahead of the regular season kickoff.

Knee surgery still a possibility for Seahawks tight end Will Dissly

After suffering a unique knee injury, it is still uncertain whether or not Seattle Seahawks tight end Will Dissly will require surgery.

Seattle Seahawks tight end Will Dissly suffered a knee injury during the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and was subsequently placed on the injured reserve. Coach Pete Carroll was asked about the status of the tight end during his wrap-up press conference on Monday.

“This is one we don’t know,” Carroll told reporters. “What they’re doing right now is they’re waiting to see how he heals in regards to surgery. Does he need surgery or not? We don’t know that yet. I think they said it was going to be a couple of months of rehab to see if just heals up so they don’t have to go in and do something.”

While the exact nature of Dissly’s injury remains unclear, Carroll was able to provide some reassuring information.

“We’ve never had the injury before – I can’t tell you what it is – but it’s in an unusual place and an unusual return, because we don’t have a background on it,” he said. “So we’ll just wait and see. He’s doing well, he’s making progress and all of that. He’s feeling more comfortable; he’s not on the crutches as much, but we’re not going to know for a while.”

Seahawks safety Jamal Adams suffers ‘serious injury’ in win over Broncos

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams was carted off the field with a “serious injury” Monday night in the team’s win over the Denver Broncos.

The Seattle Seahawks scored a major win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night but it may have come at a cost. Safety Jamal Adams was carted off the field in the first half and was unable to return to the game.

During his postgame press conference, coach Pete Carroll said Adams had hurt his knee – likely his quadriceps tendon – and that it was serious.

“He hurt his knee tonight,” Carroll told reporters. “Not a typical knee injury. His quadricep tendon I think got damaged. He got hurt.

“So, it’s a serious injury.”

Carroll had no further details at the time.

How will the Boston Celtics manage without Danilo Gallinari this season?

After it became clear Gallo had, in fact, torn his ACL again, what options do the Celtics have moving forward?

What initially looked like good luck for injured Boston Celtics veteran forward Danilo Gallinari turned out to be far less so when the Celtics revealed Gallinari had, in fact, torn the same ACL he injured in 2013.

With a typical recovery time of at least six months and sometimes as many as 12, it is clear Boston will need an answer for what the Italian swingman was expected to bring to the team in 2022-23.

What can the Celtics do after Gallinari’s injury — sustained last month while playing for the Italian National Team in FIBA qualifying play — has sidelined him for the entire regular season?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast got together for an emergency pod to discuss the range of options.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say about the course they think Boston should take.

Danilo Gallinari injury now diagnosed as an ACL tear in left knee

Following further analysis, Boston’s Danilo Gallinari has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee.

According to the Athletic’s Shams Charania, Boston Celtics wing Danilo Gallinari has been diagnosed with an ACL tear in his left knee following further medical evaluation. Boston confirmed the news in a press release.

The veteran wing sustained the injury playing for the Italian National Team during FIBA World Cup qualifying. Notably, Gallinari suffered a torn ACL in the same knee in 2013. Initial reporting suggested Gallinari had been diagnosed with a partial meniscal tear. As such, it was expected he would only miss a month or two of action.

Now, however, the path ahead is much more uncertain. Gallinari turned 34 this summer, and the typical recovery time for an injury of this magnitude is six months to a full year. He missed the 2013-14 season while recovering from his first ACL tear.

Boston has already been tied to free agents, such as Carmelo Anthony, who could help fill the void left by Gallinari. With training camp set to open in a few weeks, the Celtics could look to make a roster move sooner rather than later.

Report: Injured Boston Celtics forward Danilo Gallinari expected to miss training camp, return in November

While far from ideal, this is by far a much better prognosis than many initially feared.

If a recent estimate of when injured Boston Celtics swingman Danilo Gallinari can return to the court pans out, the Celtics and Gallinari will be in excellent position for the start of the 2022-23 NBA season.

Gallinari sustained the injury while playing for the Italian National Team in a FIBA World Cup group stage qualifying game against the Georgian National Team on Saturday. Per Sportando, the injury will keep the Celtics forward off the court “at least two months.” That will, of course, have the Italian missing training camp and the start of the regular season.

But, compared to some of the worst-case scenarios for his meniscal tear (itself a better option than the initially feared re-injury of his left ACL), that’s quite an acceptable alternative to a lost season or a career-ending injury.

Gallinari has not played for Boston yet after signing a two-year, $12.3 million contract with the Celtics this summer. With this news, fears he might never play for them should subside.

Celtics veteran swingman Danilo Gallinari reacts to officially being ruled out of EuroBasket play

While the injury is less bad than it looked, it’s still enough to crush Gallo’s dreams of competing in the EuroBasket in front of a home crowd.

Officially ruled out of EuroBasket play per Sportando’s Emiliano Carchia, Boston Celtics veteran forward Danilo Gallinari took to his Instagram to react to his meniscal tear sustained with the Italian National Team on Saturday afternoon in the final frame of a FIBA World Cup qualifying match against the National Team of Georgia.

Gallo avoided a more serious injury involving his surgically-repaired left ACL. Still, he was clearly upset about not being able to continue playing for Italy this summer as a result of the meniscal tear diagnosis following an MRI Sunday morning. It confirmed the lesser, but still impactful, injury that could see him miss several weeks to multiple months depending on the damage.

“It hurts like hell,” admitted the Celtics swingman on Instagram (translated from Italian).

Report: ‘No long-term concern’ with Boston Celtics over Robert Williams III knee

It looks as if some preventative work is being done to strengthen Williams to protect him from future injuries as well.

There is naturally always concern when a key part of a team’s rotation misses time due to a serious injury, so lingering concern about Boston Celtics center Robert Williams III’s knee after his quick return to action following a meniscal tear is to be expected and normal.

But such concern is not shared by people behind the scenes who ought to know whether that concern is warranted, according to new reporting from MassLive’s Brian Robb. The MassLive reporter shared in a recent article that “there is no long-term concern about (Timelord’s) knee injury.” The team expects the former Texas A&M standout to be 100% by the time training camp rolls around.

It looks as if some preventive work is being done to strengthen Williams knee to protect him from future injuries as well. Robb noted the Boston big man’s recent Instagram posts on his training hint at such a strategy.

For a team that often struggled in his absence in the postseason and looked better even when the Louisiana native was practically playing off of just one leg, that should be welcome news indeed.

Packers WR Christian Watson had minor knee surgery in June

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Packers rookie WR Christian Watson had minor surgery to correct a knee injury in June.

Green Bay Packers rookie receiver Christian Watson will miss some time during training camp while he recovers from a surgery completed following the offseason workout program.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Watson had a “minor knee surgery” in June.

The new information helps fill in the gaps. The Packers placed Watson on the PUP list to start training camp, and general manager Brian Gutekunst said Wednesday that the team picked addressing the injury after OTAs over waiting until after the 2022 season.

Although Watson will miss precious reps with Aaron Rodgers and the offense to open training camp, the Packers aren’t expecting him to miss a significant portion of camp, and fixing the injury now certainly beats having Watson fight through a lingering issue throughout his rookie season.

The exact injury and type of surgery completed are unknown.

Watson didn’t participate but was with the team for Wednesday’s practice, the first of training camp. He had a black wrap around his right leg.

Gutekunst said the Packers took the long-term approach and wanted to protect Watson, the 34th overall pick in the 2022 draft.

In terms of timetables, Gutekunst said Watson will return “as soon as he’s ready.”

Watson’s best attribute entering the NFL might be his elite athleticism, so anything limiting his ability to run and jump would provide a significant hurdle to him providing impact as a first-year player. The Packers are sacrificing practice time now in hopes of having Watson somewhere close to 100 percent healthy for the regular season.
