4-star LB Shemar James decommits from Florida

Four-star linebacker recruit Shemar James has decommitted from the Florida Gators after a visit to UGA.

Four-star class of 2022 linebacker recruit Shemar James has decommitted from the Florida Gators. James originally picked the Gators on June 20, but has backed off his initial decision.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide were among the top contenders for James, who visited Georgia for the Kentucky game. The four-star outside linebacker prospect plays football for Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is ranked the No. 10 linebacker in the country and the No. 70 overall recruit. James is the No. 4 player in Alabama.

It is always hard to win a recruiting battle for top in-state players against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

James plays wide receiver and outside linebacker. His team looks to get him the ball in space anyway it can. He sometimes lines up in the backfield. It is rare to see a wide receiver who plays defensive end/outside linebacker, but James has the size to star in both positions at the high school level.

James projects to be a pass rushing outside linebacker in college. He has excellent speed and could be a big-time difference maker in the SEC.

The four-star linebacker announced his decommitment via his Twitter account:

James was Florida’s top commitment in the class of 2022. The Gators have the 18th-ranked recruiting class in the country.

Will James be the latest player UGA has flipped? Or will the four-star linebacker commit to the Crimson Tide. Florida will still pursue James as well.

Four-star athlete Deyon Bouie has committed to the Texas A&M Aggies football program. Bouie was previously committed to Georgia.

Bouie ranks as the nation’s No. 50 player and the No. 2 athlete in the class of 2022. The Bainbridge, Georgia, native visited Texas A&M over the summer and has made his decision. Bouie plays for Bainbridge High School.

Kirby Smart and Jimbo Fisher are locked in a few key recruiting battles. Smart and Georgia lost commitments from Bear Alexander and Bouie this summer. Now, Texas A&M and Fisher are Georgia’s biggest competition for the duo.

Georgia will not give up in Bouie’s recruitment, but losing him to a conference foe hurts. Bouie is a top in-state prospect and Kirby Smart hates missing on top players in Georgia.

Georgia is competing with Texas A&M to consistently be the SEC’s top team behind Alabama. The Aggies have the seventh-ranked recruiting class in the country. Georgia has the fifth-ranked class of 2022.

Georgia football misses on a few key recruiting targets

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are looking to regain recruiting momentum this summer.

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have a dozen commitments in the class of 2022. The Dawgs are coming off a tough June, during which they lost a couple of five-star commitments.

Georgia remains in solid recruiting position with the seventh-ranked class of 2022 in the country. The Bulldogs recently added a commitment from four-star running back Branson Robinson, who has been compared to Nick Chubb due to his impressive strength and ability to break tackles.

Despite Robinson’s commitment, Georgia missed on a few key recruiting prospects in July, including Treyaun Webb, Keon Sabb, Tyler Booker and Daylen Everette.

Treyaun Webb, a four-star athlete, was previously committed to Georgia. The class of 2023 prospect picked the Oklahoma Sooners over the Bulldogs a few weeks ago. Will he face the Bulldogs in SEC play during his college career?

Keon Sabb and Daylen Everette are four-star defensive backs that play high school football at IMG Academy. The class of 2022 duo plans to stick together at Clemson. Georgia was among the top contenders for both.

Four-star offensive tackle Tyler Booker committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide earlier in July. Georgia made his top five schools, but it was not enough to overcome Nick Saban’s recruiting prowess. The class of 2022 prospect also plays for IMG Academy.

Overall, Kirby Smart and Georgia should still end up with an impressive class of 2022. The Bulldogs will likely finish with a top five recruiting class again, but are looking to flip their recruiting momentum with elite class of 2022 prospects.

The Georgia Bulldogs elite recruiting class of 2021 arrived on campus and has a message for UGA fans.

The Georgia Bulldogs have secured one of the top recruiting classes in the country in the class of 2021. Now, 16 of Georgia’s members of the touted recruiting class are on campus and are enrolled at the University of Georgia.

Overall, Georgia has 20 signees in the class of 2021 with no outstanding verbal  commitments. Georgia is recruiting more players at the moment, but still has the No. 3 ranked recruiting class in the country.

Look for Kirby Smart and Dan Lanning to try to add another defensive back due to the departures of Eric Stokes, Tyrique Stevenson, DJ Daniel, Richard LeCounte, and Tyson Campbell in the secondary.

Numerous Georgia Bulldogs were very excited to be on campus in Athens and they are looking forward to the next step in their lives.

Flip alert: No. 4 JUCO recruit De’Jahn Warren decommits from UGA

Four-star class of 2021 JUCO defensive back De’Jahn Warren has flipped his commitment from the University of Georgia to Jackson State.

The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart landed another defensive back commitment in De’Jahn Warren earlier this year. Unfortunately, Georgia’s defensive class has taken a hit and Warren has committed to Jackson State. Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders helped recruit Warren to their program.

De’Jahn Warren is a junior college prospect and will enter the major college football world as a member of the junior class. He will look to make an instant impact at Jackson State.

Warren plays for Lackawanna Community College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. 247Sports rates Warren as a four-star prospect and as the second highest rated JUCO cornerback prospect in the class of 2021.

Warren originally picked the Georgia Bulldogs over Penn State, Alabama, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida State and Oklahoma. Now, Warren is going a different route entirely.

With Warren’s experience and skill, he was anticipated to compete for a starting cornerback role right away. Georgia has several other elite cornerback commitments who should help ease the pain of this one.

Top-rated JUCO prospects are often ready to plug and play, so Warren could make an impact at Jackson State next season. The University of Georgia found a great deal of success and experience in former JUCO cornerback D.J. Daniel back in 2019.
