Alabama forward Keon Ellis to work out for the Thunder for the second time in pre-draft process

Keon Ellis will work out for the Thunder on Friday for a second time, per @MavsDraft

The Oklahoma City Thunder will work out Alabama forward Keon Ellis for a second time in the pre-draft process this Friday, per Mavs Draft on Twitter. The first time occurred in early May.

The Thunder has hosted regular visits with draft prospects from now until the 2022 NBA draft, which is scheduled on June 23. The Thunder own four top-34 picks with the second, 12th, 30th and 34th overall selections.

Ellis getting a second work out with the Thunder could mean that the team has better than average interest in selecting him with one of its picks in the 30s.

In his second season at Alabama, Ellis averaged 12.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists on 43.7 percent shooting in 33 games.

Lakers to host Keon Ellis, others for pre-draft workout

Ellis will be among the prospects to participate in a pre-draft workout with the Lakers on Saturday.

Alabama senior Keon Ellis will be among the prospects to participate in a pre-draft workout with the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, the team announced.

Ellis, who was named to the SEC All-Defensive team, averaged 12.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.8 assists on 43.9% shooting from the field in 33 games. He led the Crimson Tide in rebounding, steals, free-throw percentage (88.1) and 3-point percentage (36.6) last season.

The 6-foot-6 guard is widely projected to be an early-to-mid second-round pick this year after a strong campaign with the Crimson Tide. He has also worked out with Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder among other teams.

In addition to Ellis, the Lakers will also host Villanova guard Collin Gillespie, UConn guard Tyrese Martin, USC guard Drew Peterson, Texas A&M forward Quenton Jackson and Syracuse forward Cole Swider on Saturday.

The Lakers enter the pre-draft process with no picks in either round. The team dealt its first-round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans in the trade involving Anthony Davis and their second-round selection was sent to the Washington Wizards in a cap-clearing move.

Despite having no draft picks, the Lakers will still do their due diligence on those fringe prospects that could go undrafted. The team could eventually acquire picks to take a prospect or sign them outright in free agency after the draft.

The NBA draft will take place on June 23.

JD Davison, Keon Ellis go back-to-back in latest 2022 NBA mock draft

These two former Alabama MBB players are selected back to back in the latest 2022 NBA mock draft

Alabama men’s basketball made the NCAA tournament without being on the bubble, which is an improvement from where the program was just a few years ago, but it was still a very disappointing 2021-2022 season.

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony (subscription required) recently released his full first-round mock draft that is full of SEC players. Overall, a total of nine made the cut.

For Alabama, two players were selected late in the second round of the draft: [autotag]JD Davison[/autotag] and [autotag]Keon Ellis[/autotag].

JD Davison – No. 48 overall, Minnesota Timberwolves.

Keon Ellis – No. 49 overall, Sacramento Kings.

Ellis was a veteran for the Crimson Tide last season, and being project to get drafted is an improvement from where he started the season. However, Davison joined Alabama as a five-star prospect that was expected to take the nation by storm. Though he was impressive, he didn’t meet the high expectations that were set. Some questioned his decision to leave college for the NBA, as he was once seen as a potential lottery pick.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow former Alabama basketball players as they prepare for the 2022 NBA draft.

Two former Crimson Tide stars get selected in the latest 2022 NBA mock draft!

Alabama’s 2021-2022 men’s basketball season did not go the way many had hoped. The Crimson Tide made the NCAA Tournament, but was bounced in the first round by Notre Dame.

Numerous players are transferring from the program, few are returning and others are entering the NBA draft.

In the latest 2022 NBA mock draft done by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz.

The mock draft features two former Crimson Tide stars in [autotag]JD Davison[/autotag] and [autotag]Keon Ellis[/autotag].

Though they are both second-round picks, it is likely they will be on an NBA roster. [autotag]Herb Jones[/autotag] on the New Orleans Pelicans is a prime example.

ESPN does not offer explanations for the two picks, but both teams are loaded with young and rising talent. Both Davison and Ellis carry unique skills that could make them valuable players for their potential respective programs.

First … JD Davison

2022 NBA mock draft predicts landing spots for JD Davison and Keon Ellis

See where these Alabama MBB stars are projected to begin their NBA careers!

Alabama men’s basketball’s 2021-2022 season did not go the way many had hoped. Making the NCAA tournament without any fear of being left out on the wrong side of the bubble is a step in the right direction, but there are many areas to improve on. Next season, those improvements will need to be made without [autotag]JD Davison[/autotag] and [autotag]Keon Ellis[/autotag].

Those two players will not be returning to Alabama, or college basketball for that matter. Davison and Ellis have their eyes set on the NBA.

Davison was a one-and-done player and was originally expected to be a first-round pick in the 2022 NBA draft. However after a somewhat underwhelming season, his projection has dropped.

Ellis, however, has worked his way into a projected draft position after a strong season.

Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated recently shared his full 2022 NBA mock draft and includes both Davison and Ellis in round No. 2.

First … JD Davsion
