Nuggets rookie Collin Gillespie is one of three players in the G League this season to record a 30-point triple-double.

Denver Nuggets rookie Collin Gillespie registered another triple-double on assignment in the G League to lead the Grand Rapids Gold to a win over the Raptors 905.

Gillespie produced a season-high 36 points, 12 assists, 11 rebounds and three steals in the 115-109 victory on the road on Wednesday. He finished by shooting 9-of-23 from the field, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range, in 46 minutes.

The 24-year-old is one of three players in the G League this season to record a 30-point triple-double. He now has three triple-doubles, tied for the most in the G League this season (Elfrid Payton, Indiana Mad Ants).

Gillespie, who is signed to a two-way contract, was named the G League Player of the Month for December after averaging 21.7 points, 11.7 assists, 9.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals on 37.8% shooting from 3-point range in six games. He led all players in assists during the month.

He went undrafted in 2022 after playing five seasons at Villanova. He missed last season after suffering a leg fracture and ankle dislocation during the summer and spent the year on a two-way contract while recovering from the injury.

Gillespie is averaging 21.2 points, 10.4 assists, 9.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals on 45.3% shooting from the field in nine games with the Gold. He is one of four players with multiple triple-doubles this season.

Gillespie produced 11 points, 17 assists, 11 rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes of work in the 123-102 victory as the Gold improved to 2-10. He went 5-of-15 from the field in his second appearance with Grand Rapids.

The 24-year-old became the eighth player in the G League this season to record a triple-double with the performance. He struggled to make shots, but he remained productive and continued to make plays for himself and his teammates.

On Monday, the Denver Nuggets re-signed former All-American Collin Gillespie to a two-way contract, according to the official NBA transactions page.

Gillespie went undrafted last year after five seasons at Villanova. He missed last season after suffering a leg fracture and ankle dislocation at a Villanova team practice in July 2022. He spent the year on a two-way contract while recovering from the injury.

However, the 24-year-old is healthy again and back on the court.

He was a full participant in summer league, averaging 7.8 points, 4.6  assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals on 30.2% shooting from the field in five games. He scored in double figures twice, including a summer league-high 16 points on July 9.

Gillespie was named a third-team All-American during the 2021-22 season after averaging 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and one steal as a fifth-year senior. He finished as the all-time program leader in games played (156) and the No. 12 scorer with 1,858 points.

The organization opted to keep him last year despite the injury and believes he has a bright future ahead. He is said to be a favorite of head coach Michael Malone and will finally have the opportunity to showcase his abilities next season.

He will split his time between the Nuggets and Grand Rapids Gold in the G League. He is eligible to spend no more than 50 games in the NBA and will earn a flat salary equal to 50% of the minimum salary applicable to a player with zero years of service.

Gillespie reunited with his former head coach at the NCAA men’s national championship game in Houston.

Denver Nuggets rookie Collin Gillespie on Monday reunited with former head coach Jay Wright at the NCAA men’s national championship game at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Of course, Gillespie played five years at Villanova under Wright and finished as the all-time program leader in games played (156) and the No. 12 scorer with 1,858 points. Wright retired at the conclusion of last season and serves as an analyst for CBS Sports.

Gillespie and the Nuggets are in Houston ahead of their matchup against the Rockets on Tuesday. He and several other players were on hand at the game and the 23-year-old had the opportunity to catch up with Wright in the first half between No. 4 UConn and No. 5 San Diego State.

Gillespie hasn’t played this season with the Nuggets due to a leg fracture sustained last summer while helping out at a Villanova team practice. He has has progressed in his recovery and has been seen putting up shots with the team.
