40 days until Alabama football kicks off the 2024 season

Just 40 days separate us from the start of the 2024 Alabama football season opener against Western Kentucky!

In 40 days, Kalen DeBoer will usher in a new era of Alabama Crimson Tide football, replacing the legendary [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] as head coach in Tuscaloosa.

Coach DeBoer and the Crimson Tide will take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Aug. 31 to kick off the 2024 college football season inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

At Roll Tide Wire, we will count down the days until Alabama football takes the field.

Freshman linebacker [autotag]Sterling Dixon[/autotag] wears No. 40 for the Crimson Tide but has not yet taken a snap for Alabama.

Before Dixon, linebacker [autotag]Kendrick Blackshire[/autotag] wore No. 40 but would transfer twice this offseason. Once to the Texas Longhorns then to the UTSA Roadrunners.

Here are the top photos of Blackshire in his time with the Crimson Tide where he accumulated 25 tackles in three seasons.

Former Alabama LB Kendrick Blackshire announces transfer to UTSA

After transferring from Alabama to Texas, Kendrick Blackshire is now transferring to UTSA.

Former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Kendrick Blackshire transferred to Texas Longhorns following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season. Now, the Texas native will be transferring to play for UTSA. The news broke on Friday evening.

Blackshire spent the first three years of his college career in Tuscaloosa. He played primarily on special teams and played sparingly at linebacker for the Crimson Tide. In three seasons at Alabama, Blackshire recorded 25 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Following his junior season, Blackshire transferred to Texas. After spending several months at Texas, Blackshire made the decision to re-enter the transfer portal. Now, he will transfer even closer to home to play for Jeff Traylor and the Roadrunners. It will be interesting to see what kind of role that Blackshire carves out on the Roadrunners defense.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest Alabama Football news as the 2024 offseason progresses.

Former Alabama LB Kendrick Blackshire re-entering the transfer portal

Former Alabama and Texas LB Kendrick Blackshire set to re-enter the transfer portal

After legendary head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] retired from football and the Alabama Crimson Tide, we all knew there were going to be some players transferring. New head coach [autotag]Kalen DeBoer[/autotag] did an outstanding job of retaining the roster, but he unfortunately couldn’t keep everyone. One of the more upsetting departures was linebacker [autotag]Kendrick Blackshire[/autotag] who decided to transfer to Texas.

Coming out of high school, Blackshire was a four-star recruit and in the ESPN top 300 out of Duncanville, TX. In three years with the Crimson Tide, Blackshire posted 25 total tackles and one forced fumble in mostly reserve minutes.

Blackshire spent only three to four months in Austin, TX, but it appears as if he will be on the move again after re-entering the transfer portal. Blackshire saw mostly back up reps in the Texas spring game behind sophomore Anthony Hill Jr, so I expect him to go somewhere that he can be a day one starter.

Alabama could face one of its transfers next season. On Tuesday night, former Alabama linebacker Kendrick Blackshire announced he was transferring to Texas.

Blackshire spent the past three seasons at Alabama. He served primarily as a reserve inside linebacker and a special teamer. In 25 games, Blackshire recorded 25 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

After entering the transfer portal, Blackshire took official visits to Ole Miss and Texas. Ultimately, he decided to return to his home state to play for the Longhorns.

He will be a part of a Longhorns squad led by former Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. He will be an instrumental piece on Texas’ defense as they transition to the SEC.

Roll Tide Wire will provide the latest news regarding the Alabama football program and its former players in the NCAA transfer portal.

Alabama LB Kendrick Blackshire enters NCAA transfer portal

Alabama linebacker Kendrick Blackshire entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He spent three seasons in Tuscaloosa.

On Monday, Alabama saw its 17th player enter the NCAA transfer portal. The most recent entrant was rising senior linebacker Kendrick Blackshire. 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer confirmed the news.

The native of Duncanville, Texas spent three seasons in Tuscaloosa. Throughout his Crimson Tide career, Blackshire amassed 25 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Blackshire was most commonly known for his tenacious play at the linebacker position. He had a freak-like physique at 6-foot-2 and 233 pounds. Blackshire was arguably one of the strongest players on the team during his time in Tuscaloosa.

I would be surprised to see Blackshire transfer to a school that is not located in the Lonestar state. Several schools to keep a close eye on are Texas, TCU, and SMU.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will take the field for the 2023 college football season in 40 days, as Middle Tennessee State visits Bryant Denny Stadium on Sept. 2.

Here at Roll Tide Wire, we will be counting down the days until Nick Saban and his team take the field.

With 40 days remaining, we will take a look at the current Tide player that wears No. 40 junior linebacker, Kendrick Blackshire.

Blackshire saw action on special teams as both a true freshman in 2021 and as a sophomore in 2022. Blackshire remains a promising inside linebacker prospect but could still be a year away from earning a starting spot for the Tide. His role on special teams remains a critical piece of the puzzle in 2023.
