Celtics alumni point guards Kemba Walker, Isaiah Thomas reportedly potential Charlotte Hornets targets

Walker, however, would need a buyout or trade from the Detroit Pistons, who hold his contract at present.

It seems German floor general Dennis Schroder is not the only Boston Celtics alumni in the mix to suit up at the point for a team other than the Celtics this season. Marc Stein revealed in a recent edition of his Substack NBA newsletter that former Boston point guards Isaiah Thomas and Kemba Walker are in the mix in Charlotte for the Hornets’ backup point guard position.

IT, who finished the 2021-22 season with the Hornets on a positive note, would have the inside track between the two given Thomas is a free agent. Walker is still a member of the Detroit Pistons organization after being dealt there from the New York Knicks.

There is a widespread consensus that Walker will be bought out or traded from the Pistons and available to join another team before the start of the  season, however.

Every Boston Celtics player appearance on ‘Shaqtin’a Fool’ since 2011

Watch the clip to see the worst (or at least the funniest) of the Celtics over the last decade and a year.

While it might not be an honor to appear on former Boston Celtics big man Shaquille O’Neal‘s “Shaqtin a Fool” segment on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” a fair number of Boston players making a guest appearance over the years. The segment, for the uninitiated, is effectively the blooper reel of the dumbest, funniest or weirdest things Shaq and company caught on video that week.

Now, YouTuber and Celtics fan videographer Danielle Hobeika put together an all-time compilation of when Celtics players made the show. The list includes Rajon Rondo, Mikael Pietrus, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Kris Humphries, Vitor Faverani, Kelly Olynyk, Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, Al Horford, Gerald Green, Jayson Tatum, Daniel Theis, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Glen “Big Baby” Davis.

Watch the clip embedded below to see the worst of Boston over the last decade and a year — and try not to drink anything while you watch it.

On this day: Vincent, Lewis drafted; Horford/Walker/Brown trade; Spector passes

On this day, the Boston Celtics took Sam Vincent and Ralph Lewis in the 1985 NBA draft, the team traded Kemba Walker for Al Horford and Moses Brown, and Al Spector passed.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, the team took two players of note in the 1985 NBA draft that was held in the Felt Forum, New York City, New York. for their first selection of the draft, the Celtics first took 6-foot-2, 185 lb. point guard Samuel Vincent out of Michigan State with the 20th overall pick of the draft.

A product of Lansing Michigan, Vincent would play for two seasons for Boston between 1985 and 1987, winning a championship with the Celtics in 1986 as a reserve guard. The former Spartan averaged 3.4 points and 1.2 rebounds per game per 7.8 minutes of play per game over the two seasons he was with the team.

Vincent left Boston when he was dealt with Scott Wedman to the Seattle SuperSonics for draft considerations in 1987.

ESPN proposes Lakers-Knicks trade involving Russell Westbrook, Kemba Walker

This proposed trade sends Russell Westbrook and others to the New York Knicks while Kemba Walker and more come to the L.A. Lakers.

The 2022 NBA trade deadline is about a week away, and phones are going to be ringing more often now as the Feb. 10 date approaches. The Los Angeles Lakers will likely be one of the teams trying to upgrade the roster for a playoff push.

Los Angeles has been involved in many rumors since the start of the season, and those have increased in recent weeks. Reports have indicated the Lakers are shopping Talen Horton-Tucker, Kent Bazemore and DeAndre Jordan. Russell Westbrook is more difficult to trade given his $44 million salary with a $47 million player option next season.

This proposed trade from Bobby Marks of ESPN involves the Lakers and New York Knicks striking a six-player deal (h/t: @_Talkin_NBA):

Rockets rookie Jalen Green sees ‘big bro’ in Golden State’s Steph Curry

On the eve of another matchup versus Golden State and Steph Curry, Rockets rookie Jalen Green explained why he sees the two-time MVP as a big brother and someone to learn from.

When the Houston Rockets take on the Golden State Warriors on Monday for the third time this season, one player views it as more than just a regular-season game. Rookie Jalen Green will have another opportunity to show one of his mentors, Warriors guard Steph Curry, what he has learned in the 34 games he has played in his NBA career.

The two first met when Green was in high school and then again when he played with the G League Ignite team last season and have remained friends ever since. Green cherished his conversations with the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made and gave critical advice when he struggled with his shot last season while playing in the G League.

That’s like a big bro. I was struggling a little bit in the G League, and he (Curry) sent me a voice message like, ‘Man, just keep shooting.’ I don’t know how many nights had been in that shooting slump, but I just kept shooting. He’s always giving me advice. I can hit him up whenever I need to.

Another resource that Green has at his disposal if he wants to follow in the footsteps of the future first-ballot Hall of Famer is head coach Stephen Silas — who was an assistant coach with Golden State when Curry was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft.

After Sunday’s practice, Silas said he had found notes that he had kept on Curry from his rookie year, which he showed to Green earlier this season.

I was looking through my notes the other day. I have a blueprint for Steph from 2010 of all the things he needed to work on in the summer. All the things he improved on during the year, and all the things he needed to work on during the summer. A lot of them are similar to what Jalen needs to work on.

With Green’s work ethic, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if he looks for all of the blueprints that Silas has on his other former players, which includes LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Kemba Walker.

Kemba Walker says knee is ‘feeling good,’ wants to beat the Boston Celtics

Former Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker says his knee is feeling better and wishes the best for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Former Boston Celtics guard and UConn legend Kemba Walker — now with the New York Knicks — is set to face off against the Celtics in his first regular-season game since the team traded him for Al Horford in the offseason. Walker, who has had knee problems over the past few seasons, told NBC’s Abby Chin that his knee is feeling good. He also said he is planning to play when he can, even in back-to-back games if possible.

“I’m feeling really good, feeling really good,” Walker shared. “I’ve been available. I’ve been here. I’ve been here all practices. I’ve been able to play in all the preseason games.”

Walker, who has tremendous history playing at Madison Square Garden in college, will suit up for his hometown Knicks for the first time Wednesday. Adding that it is against Boston is another wrinkle.
