A former Nebraska basketball standout had an impressive debut off the bench on Wednesday night. Keisei Tominaga scored 12 points to help G League United defeat BC Mega MIS 99-81.

The G League United is a select squad of current and future G League stars. BC Mega MIS is a premier Serbian team known for developing three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokić.

Tominaga is the only rookie on the 12-member squad. He spent three seasons at Nebraska and scored 1,074 points, good for seventh in school history. He recently signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Indiana Pacers.

In his final year at Nebraska, the guard averaged 15.1 points per game and landed 76 3-pointers, which ranked eighth on the Huskers’ single-season chart. His efforts helped Nebraska to a 23-11 record in 2023-24, a third-place Big Ten finish, and the school’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014.

The team will also compete in Singapore’s 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup from Sept. 12 to 15.

Former Nebraska guard Keisei Tominaga is among the players who will participate in the 2024 G League Fall Invitational next month.

Former Nebraska guard Keisei Tominaga is among the players who will participate in the 2024 G League Fall Invitational next month in Santa Cruz, California.

Tominaga was chosen to represent the United, a team comprised of the top G League prospects, against Mega MIS, a program in the top professional league in Serbia. The two-game exhibition competition will take place Sept. 4-6 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Joining Tominaga on the roster so far are Stockton Kings forward Deonte Burton and Isaiah Wong, who was with the Indiana Pacers last season. The complete roster will be announced at a later date.

Tominaga was named to the All-Big Ten second team last season after averaging 15.1 points and 2.3 rebounds on 37.6% shooting from 3-point range as a fifth-year senior. He produced eight 20-point games, including a season-high 31 points on Feb. 4.

The 6-foot-2 guard is expected to sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Pacers after going undrafted this year. He skipped summer league to represent Japan in the 2024 Olympic Games and totaled two points and one steal in eight minutes with the team.

Tominaga and the United will also participate in the 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup, featuring teams from six countries. The competition will run Sept. 12-15 in Singapore.

A former Husker will once again represent his country on the Olympic level. Japan announced that it selected Nebraska men’s basketball standout Keisei Tominaga to its 2024 Paris Olympic team.

This is Tominaga’s second trip to the Olympics after playing for Japan’s 3×3 basketball team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Following a stellar career at Nebraska, he recently signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Indiana Pacers.

Tominaga spent three seasons with the Huskers, tallying up 1,074 points to rank 30th on Nebraska’s career scoring list while finishing seventh on the Husker’s career 3-point list with 178. In his final season, he averaged 15.1 points per game while posting career highs in nearly every offensive category.

Tominaga landed 76 3-pointers in the 2023-24 season, ranking eighth on Nebraska’s single-season chart and sixth in the Big Ten in 3-pointers per game. His efforts helped Nebraska to a third-place Big Ten finish in 2024 and the school’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014.

In May 2024, he graduated from Nebraska with a degree in child, youth, and family studies and was a finalist for Nebraska’s Outstanding Male Student-Athlete and Male Athlete of the Year.

Tominaga joins Jack McVeigh (Australia) as a player in the 2024 Olympics, while former Husker great Tyronn Lue will serve as an assistant coach for the United States. Japan is in Group B with Brazil, Germany, and France, while Australia is placed in Group A alongside Greece, Canada, and Spain.

Former Nebraska guard Keisei Tominaga was among the players named to Japan’s 12-man roster on Monday for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Tominaga, who has participated with the team in training camp, joins Rui Hachimura, Yuta Watanabe, Yuki Kawamura and Josh Hawkinson on the roster, among others. He has appeared in four tune-up games, averaging 10.3 points, two steals and 1.5 rebounds.

The 23-year-old is expected to sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Indiana Pacers after going undrafted last month. He opted against playing in the NBA Summer League this month to represent Japan for the fourth time at the senior level.

Tominaga most recently competed with Japan in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup alongside Watanabe, Kawamura and Hawkinson. He averaged 11.4 points as Japan finished as the top Asian team to clinch its Olympic berth.

Japan will open the Olympics in Group B, along with Brazil, France and Germany. The team will play its first game against Germany on July 27, then face France on July 30 before wrapping up the group phase against Brazil on Aug. 2.

Japan has qualified for the Olympics eight times, most recently as the host nation in 2020. The team finished 11th that year and has never medaled in the Games.

A Nebraska basketball player has signed an NBA contract. Keisei Tominaga signed an Exhibit 10 free-agent deal with the Indiana Pacers.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed contract that doesn’t count against a team’s salary cap unless the player makes the regular-season roster. He will not participate in the NBA Summer League and will focus on making Japan’s 2024 Summer Olympic roster.

In 32 games last season, he averaged 15.1 points, shooting 46.6% from the field and 37.6% from the three-point line. This is not the first time that the Nagoya, Japan native has worked out for NBA teams.

He worked out for the Indiana Pacers in the run-up to the 2023 NBA draft before withdrawing and returning to Nebraska for his senior season.

Sharpshooting Japaneses guard Keisei Tominaga is the latest athlete to join Curry and Under Armour’s signature Curry Brand for a multi-year deal.

Tominaga, born in Japan, spent the last three seasons playing college basketball in the states for Nebraska. During the 2023-24 campaign, Tominaga earned second-team All-Big12 honors, averaging 15.1 points on 46.6% shooting from the field and 37.6% from long distance in 32 games.

After helping Nebraska make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, Tominaga put on a show at the college basketball 3-point contest. Tominaga torched the competition with a flurry of triples in the final round.

Following an impressive college career, Tominaga is set to represent Japan at the summer Olympic games in Paris, France.

Tominaga, who was born in Japan, met Curry Brand president Stephen Curry six years ago when he was invited to the 2018 Under Armour Basketball Tour in Tokyo. He modeled part of his game after Curry and wears the No. 30 because of the Golden State Warriors star.

The 23-year-old joins Curry, De’Aaron Fox and MiLaysia Fulwiley as Curry Brand athletes. He will become a brand ambassador off the court to expand its reach and commitment to change the game for good in Japan and around the world.
