5-star MSU Basketball recruiting target Karim Mane still undecided on entering NBA Draft

Big time Michigan State Basketball recruiting target Karim Mane is reportedly still on the fence about his future.

While Michigan State fans are asking questions about Xavier Tillman and Aaron Henry’s future, there is also another player who is deciding between MSU (and other schools) and the NBA Draft. Karim Mane has been a major recruiting target for Tom Izzo as a player who could come in this year and make an impact, but, according to Peter Yannopoulos of Montreal’s 919sports, he is reportedly still undecided on his future plans.

Rivals, who ranks Mane as a 5-star point guard, currently have Mane projected to commit to Michigan State. However, Mane has also entered the NBA Draft process, but similarly to Xavier Tillman and Aaron Henry, has kept his college eligibility through that process.

Mane is an impact player who could come in and immediately compete for a starting guard position. If he does decide to stay in school, and heads to Michigan State, it would be yet another big recruiting victory for Tom Izzo in a summer that has been filled with recruiting wins.

Top MSU Basketball 2020 recruiting target Karim Mane enters NBA draft but keeps eligibility

The last remaining unsigned 5-star recruit in the 2020 class and MSU’s top recruiting prospect Karim Mane will enter the NBA Draft process.

According to Jonathan Givony of ESPN, the top-ranked unsigned recruit for the 2020 class and highly coveted Michigan State recruiting target Karim Mane, the 5-star combo guard from Vanier College in Quebec, has sent in his paperwork for the 2020 NBA Draft but is still keeping his college eligibility intact.

“I sent in my paperwork, but I am keeping my options open as far as college,” Mane told ESPN on Thursday. “I am not planning on hiring an agent right now. I want to hear directly from teams. If I can get a guarantee I’ll be drafted, I will probably need to think about staying in.”

Mane will go through the pre-draft process and be able to gauge interest from teams before making a decision to stay in the draft or head to one of the five teams he has identified as his final choices, one of which being Michigan State. Mane took a virtual visit with the Spartans last week.

Get to know top NBA prospects who may join new G League Select Team

The NBA G League is launching a brand new team for top prospects who would prefer to forego the traditional route of college basketball.

The NBA G League is launching a brand new team for top prospects who would prefer to forego the traditional route of college basketball.

Prolific Prep’s Jalen Green was the first player to commit to the program, which exists in many ways to convince players to be in their pipeline rather than go overseas in Australia and play in the NBL like LaMelo Ball and RJ Hampton did in 2019-20.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony, former NBA Coach of the Year Sam Mitchell is “expected to be considered” as an option to lead the team.

We have provided brief profiles on Green, who will headline the show in Southern California, as well as several other prospects who could join him.

Jalen Green is an incredibly explosive athlete who also has improved as a shooter over the past few years. The scorer has become a more consistent and reliable option, offering an attacking mentality that will develop further as competition continues. One of Green’s crowning achievements thus far: He took home tournament MVP during the U17 World Cup in 2018, leading the United States to the gold medal behind 15.7 points per game. He also averaged 7.7 threes per 40 minutes, showing he is a fearless shooter. His natural stroke from the free-throw line shows that his 3-point percentage will likely increase within time, too.

2020 5-star basketball prospect Karim Mane takes virtual visit to Michigan State

The top available basketball prospect for 2020 reportedly took a virtual visit with Michigan State on Tuesday.

[jwplayer QdR5S1l2]

There is still one 5-star basketball prospect in the 2020 class who has not yet announced a commitment, and that is Karim Mane out of Vanier College in Montreal, Quebec. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Mane took a virtual visit with the Spartans on Tuesday along with DePaul, which is great news for MSU fans still hoping he comes into the program.

He had a similar visit with Marquette last week, according to Weingarten, and has another one scheduled with Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.

Mane is the No. 25 player in the 2020 class according to 247sports and obviously the top player in Quebec. They currently have him projected to go to Marquette but he would be an awesome fit with Michigan State, who currently doesn’t have a confirmed starting point guard.

MSU’s options for the starting point guard position are currently Rocket Watts, incoming 4-star guard AJ Hoggard, and then Foster Loyer. Interestingly, Mane, Hoggard, and Watts are all combo guards so it’s possible that it could end up being playmaking-by-committee for Tom Izzo’s squad. Unless Loyer makes a big jump this summer I don’t think he’ll be a strong possibility for that role but we’ll have to see on that front.

This past winter season, Michigan State basketball made an offer to Canadian, 3-star Guard Karim Mane. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com, Karim Mane has not ruled out going pro but is still focused on college. Weingarten also states that Michigan State remains involved along with other teams including Marquette and DePaul.

Here is a highlight reel of Mane:

Karim Mane is a combo guard from Quebec. Per 247 Sports, He is the 125th overall prospect in the 2020 class and the 13th ranked combo guard in his recruiting class. All the while, he is the top-ranked player in Quebec.

A.J. Hoggard will join MSU’s roster next year. Mane and Hoggard could be an impressive combo guard backcourt. Especially in a trio with Rocket Watts. Talk about offensive firepower.
