The Stanford Cardinal and Kansas State Wildcats meet Saturday in a neutral-site game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the Stanford vs. Kansas State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Stanford won four of six games in an abbreviated schedule in 2020. Senior QB Jack West has been tabbed as the starting quarterback, and his life will be made easier with the ability to hand off to RB Austin Jones. The latter gobbled up 550 rushing yards in his six games last season.

K-State will try to take advantage of a Stanford defense which coughed up 31.7 points per game and 6.6 yards per play. Look for RB Deuce Vaughn to be leaned on early and often, as the Cardinal really struggled against the run.

Money line

KANSAS STATE (-165) is a fine play straight up in this neutral-site battle at Jerry World. It should play like a home game, as the Wildcats are a little more familiar with AT&T Stadium and should have quite a few more fans making the trip into what is essentially Big 12 country.

Really, as long as QB Skylar Thompson is back to his pre-injury form, and the Deuce gets loose for the Wildcats, this could turn out to be a rather lopsided affair.

Against the spread

KANSAS STATE -3.5 (+100) is a decent value at even money, although I don’t love a line of three and a hook. Still, I think the Cardinal defense will have its hands full with a talented K-State attack.

Look for the Wildcats to push for a double-digit win before the dust settles in the Metroplex.

Over/Under

UNDER 53.5 (-107) seems like a bit of a low number, but it’s the right total. I’d go lightly and take the Under.

Stanford’s defense up front is a little lacking, but it’s decent in the back end. While I expect K-State to run with abandon, running also runs the clock. Under bettors love running teams dominating.

  1. K-State struggled overall this season, but it might have played its best basketball down the stretch. They finished 3-1 SU/2-1-1 ATS across the final four games, including a 62-57 win over ranked Oklahoma as a 10-point underdog and a 62-54 win at TCU Feb. 20 as 6.5-point ‘dogs.
  2. TCU enters on a big-time skid, going 1-6 SU across the final seven regular-season games, with its only win over last-place Iowa State  Feb. 27. The Horned Frogs also went just 2-6 ATS across the final eight outings.
  3. The Over went 3-1 in the final four games for TCU, but the Under went 6-0 in the final six games for Kansas State. The Under also cashed in each of the two meetings between the two in the regular season.

Money line (ML)

KANSAS STATE (+165) is a good play straight up as a moderate underdog against a skidding TCU (-200) side. The Horned Frogs managed a split with the Wildcats this season but lost the most recent meeting at home. The Wildcats are also playing very well, while TCU is not. Back the ‘dog.

Against the spread (ATS)

KANSAS STATE +4.5 (-115) is definitely the play catching two buckets if you’re not feeling them straight up and want a little insurance. As mentioned, the Wildcats have ticked off wins over Iowa State, Oklahoma and TCU across the past four outings, and they’re playing with a lot of confidence right now. The same certainly cannot be said of the Horned Frogs.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 127.5 (-105) is the way to go, as K-State has been grinding out low-scoring wins lately. They combined for just 116 points at TCU in the most recent meeting, easily hitting the Under (132) number. The first meeting had a total of 127 points on the board, hitting the Under (131) as well. Look for another low-scoring game in this meeting in K.C.

TEXAS -13.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play as a visit to Kansas State should be the elixir to cure the Longhorns’ recent ills. However, they haven’t covered in five straight outings, so don’t get too carried away. Texas is still 4-1 ATS in the past five road outings, and K-State is 8-22 ATS in its past 30 at home. In addition, the road team is 9-2 ATS across the past 11 in this series.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 134.5 (-110) has been the rule in Texas games lately, win or lose. The Longhorns have hit the Over in eight of the past nine, and the Over is 5-0 in their past five against teams with a winning percentage of .400 or lower. The Over is also 9-3 in the past 12 for Kansas State at home against road teams with a winning percentage of .600 or higher. K-State allows 73.8 points per game.   1. Both teams have been on slides of late. The Wildcats have lost eight in a row; included in that stretch are four road losses by an average of 20.3 points. The Jayhawks have lost four of their last five; all four setbacks were on the road.
  2. In Big 12 play, Kansas State ranks last in shooting with a 42.1% mark from the field. That includes an anemic 29.8% performance from beyond the arc. Turnovers have also short-circuited the KSU offense. The Wildcats were tagged with a combined 47 miscues in back-to-back losses to West Virginia and Baylor Jan. 23 and Jan. 27. Their 15.3 turnovers per game rank last in the conference.
  3. Kansas is 7-1 at home, with its one setback coming in an awful shooting performance against ranked Texas (Jan. 2). Efficiency figures tell the tale of a Jayhawks five which has struggled offensively while playing better defense at home.   1. Baylor routed Kansas State 100-69 in their first meeting of the season Dec. 19, 2020. The Bears led 56-27 at the half and never looked back, covering the spread as 16-point road favorites. Senior G MaCio Teague and junior G Davion Mitchell scored 23 and 20 points, respectively, for the Bears.
  2. K-State enters on a 6-game slide (2-4 ATS), most recently dropping a 69-47 decision as an 11-point home underdog to current-No. 11 West Virginia Saturday. Two of the other losses in the streak were also to ranked teams – 82-71 at then-No. 19 Texas Tech Jan. 5 and 82-67 at then-No. 4 Texas Jan. 16. Each of the Wildcats’ last five losses has been by at least 11 points. Senior G Mike McGuirl leads three ‘Cats in double figures at 11.9 points per game.
  3. Baylor, one of four undefeated NCAA teams with at least 10 games played, is coming off an 81-66 victory as an 11.5-point favorite at Oklahoma State Saturday. The Bears have won their seven conference games by a league-best margin of 15.1 PPG. Junior G Jared Butler’s 17.1 PPG leads four Bears in double figures and has a team-best 2.3 steals per game.

Kansas State at Baylor: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Money line (ML)

There’s NO WAY anyone should bet a -10000 money line, which is Baylor’s ML price. It can be tossed into a parlay, but it doesn’t help the payoff enough to make it worthwhile. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

Despite a 4-11 ATS record, KANSAS STATE +23.5 (-110) is the play.

Only two of KSU’s 11 losses have been by 25 or more points, including the 31-point home blowout by Baylor back in December.

The Bears are 6-0 straight-up since Jan. 2, but they haven’t beaten an opponent by more than 18 points in that span. Baylor, which is 11-3 ATS, won’t have a problem with K-State, but a 24-point win is a big ask.

Plus, with Saturday’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge home showdown vs. Auburn – which beat No. 12 Missouri Tuesday – up next, expect Baylor head coach Scott Drew to rest some, if not all, of his starters late in the second half.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 135.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. The Over is 7-1 in the last eight games of this head-to-head series.

With starters on the bench and the winner already decided, the final 5-10 minutes should turn into a run-and-gun affair with defense thrown out the window.

  1. The Red Raiders are looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 82-77 overtime loss at home against Oklahoma State. It was their second loss in the past four games, although the first loss Dec. 17 was a one-point setback to Kansas. The Red Raiders enter on an 0-6 ATS skid.
  2. Texas Tech enters play 0-5 ATS in five games as a favorite of 25 or less points this season, and it is 3-2 SU in those outings. The Red Raiders also 0-3 ATS inside the conference. Kansas State hasn’t been much better against the number, going 2-8 ATS so far this season, and just 1-2 ATS inside the conference.

Texas Tech (-3000) should have no problems with Kansas State, but there is no way to ever justify risking 30 times your potential return. It’s amateur hour, and a failing long-term strategy. AVOID.

Back the home side, although it likely will be a sweat shop until the end. The favorite has cashed in eight of the previous 11 meetings between these conference rivals, too, so that bodes well in favor of the Cyclones.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 137.5 (-110) is the play here between two sides struggling offensively during the early going. The Under is also 4-0 in K-State’s past four following a non-cover, and 4-1 in the previous five after a straight-up victory.
