The Tigers are looking to add another five-star wideout to their 2025 class.
LSU already has one five-star receiver on board for the 2025 cycle in Dakorien Moore, the No. 1 wideout in the nation. Now, it’s pushing to land another five-star in the class.
Sachse, Texas, receiver [autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] has yet to release a list of his top schools, but LSU seems to be squarely in the mix as he has a visit to Baton Rouge planned for next month.
The Tigers are competing with a long list of top programs, including in-state schools like Texas, which is favored to land Lockett per On3. But they’re hoping to sway the No. 12 player in the 2025 class, and he had positive things to say about LSU recently.
“That is also wide receiver-U, it’s them and Ohio State,” he said, per On3. One of my favorite players, Odell Beckham, he was at LSU. I used to watch LSU a whole bunch back when he was there. Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, now seeing Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas over there, they were balling and had the No. 1 offense in the country. Coach (Cortez) Hankton, me and him have a great relationship.”
LSU’s 2025 class currently ranks first nationally and boasts commitments from the top quarterback, receiver and running back.

Penn State’s search for wide receiver depth continues with an upcoming visit from a four-star target.
With how the wide receiver unit performed in 2023-24, it’s no surprise that the recruitment of that position group will be heavily monitored for the next few classes.
Getting better recruits who can perform on gamedays will be crucial to the success of Penn State in the Big Ten and on their quest of competing for a national championship.
They got some great news in their recruitment of elite 2025 wide receiver [autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] when he announced he’s taking a visit to Happy Valley on March 14.
The 6’1″ 175-pounder from Texas is rated as a four-star by the four major recruiting services.
He exploded onto the scene after his junior year when he caught 59 balls for over 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns.
On3’s Industry Rankings have him as the No. 52 player nationally and the seventh overall wide receiver in the class. However, 247Sports is the most high on him, listing Lockett as the 11th best player in the country and No. 2 receiver.
This would be an incredible win for [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and wide receivers coach [autotag]Marques Hagans[/autotag].
The others schools he’s planning on visiting as of now are Florida State, Ohio State and LSU, after previously visiting Texas A&M and TCU.
According to Keegan Pope of On3, both Ohio State and LSU are high on his list after seeing the development they’ve had with other receivers who have come through their programs. Alabama and Clemson are of interest to him as well, based on the coaching staffs and atmosphere (subscription required).
It seems like this recruitment could be an uphill battle for the Nittany Lions, but getting him already locked into an official visit could be huge in their process of trying to win him over.
An elite talent like that should be heavily pursued by Penn State and it looks like they are doing all they can to try and land him.
Texas is a 35% favorite to land Kaliq Lockett per On3.
One of the top wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class, and a player who is ranked as the No. 12 player overall in his class, has locked in a visit to LSU.
[autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] will visit Baton Rouge on April 12 after he takes visits to Florida State (March 9), Penn State (March 14) and Ohio State (March 23). There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Lockett but the Texas Longhorns are a 35% favorite to land him per On3.
As far as the 2025 recruiting class goes, [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is cooking right now. The class is ranked as the No. 2 class in the country. The class already has a commitment from the No. 1 quarterback, wide receiver, and running back in that class. The Tigers are also in the mix for the No. 1 safety in the class as well. It’s shaping up to be one of the best recruiting classes in LSU history, but we are still a long way from reaching the finish line for that class.

It’s no secret that Ohio State football’s recruiting and development of wide receivers is as good as it gets in college football.
Between Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Buckeyes have produced three first round wide receivers in the last two drafts. With Marvin Harrison Jr. likely coming off the board in the top five in April’s draft that is a streak that will continue.
This wide receiver development has made Ohio State an enticing spot for top recruits at the position evidenced by the Buckeyes landing Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham in the 2024 class.
For the 2025 class, Ohio State picked up a commitment in October from Jayvan Boggs, a 4-star wide receiver out of Florida and have offers out to 15 other wide receivers.
The Buckeyes appear to making some progress in the recruitment of one of their targets as 4-star wide receiver, Kaliq Lockett, locked in a spring visit for March 23 with Ohio State on Tuesday.

Lockett is rated as four-star recruit on all four major recruiting resources and is the 7th ranked wide receiver in the class according to the On3 industry rankings.

Lockett plays for Sachse High School in Sachse, Texas. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds. During his junior season, Lockett reeled in 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns.
He is a two-sport athlete at his high school. While performing at a high level on the football field, he also competes on the school’s track and field team. His explosiveness and athleticism translate well for Lockett in both sports.
Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and general manager Courtney Morgan did a fantastic job of adding players at the skilled position during their time at Washington. The two will look to try and add a proven playmaker in Texas native Kaliq Lockett.

In the wake of the news that 2025 four-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, who holds deep connections to Texas A&M, will make his way to College Station this weekend, we’ve learned several other 2025 prospects will join him. Among them are four-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins (No. 26 at the position), five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi (No. 2) and three-star defensive lineman Xavier Ukponu (No. 51). All of the visits were confirmed by Rivals’ Landyn Rosow.
This is a big step for Elko and his staff as they build their first official recruiting class with the program. They are sticking to the same principles that led the Aggies to the third-ranked transfer portal class this cycle.

Texas A&M’s 2025 class is bare in the early stages with just one commit. Still, under new head coach Mike Elko, expectations going into the 2024 season have steadily risen after landing 19 players through the transfer portal, while the 2025 cycle will see a slew of visitors make their way to College Station.
One of those future visitors, 2025 four-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, is slated to visit Texas A&M during the Aggies Junior Day on Jan. 14, confirmed by Rivals insider Landy Rosow on Sunday afternoon. Holding deep connections (Grandmother) to Texas A&M through his family, it’s no surprise that Elko and his staff have a slight edge in recruiting.
According to 247Sports, Lockett is currently positioned as the 11th-ranked player in the class, the 2nd-ranked wide receiver, and the 3rd-ranked player in Texas, as the Sachse (TX) native is coming off his highly productive 2023 junior campaign, recording 59 receptions, 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns on the year.

Many coaches have hit the road this week to visit recruits, but that hasn’t stopped Ohio State football from making evaluations and sending out offers.
One of the players they deemed worthy enough for a scholarship was 2025 Texas wide receiver, [autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 175-pound prospect is viewed as one of the nation’s best. He’s ranked as the No. 11 player at his position and 93rd overall in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The Buckeyes now have joined the likes of LSU, Michigan, Florida, USC, Penn State and others in offering Lockett, many coming within the past few days.

The reaction of the Ohio State offer was different than others, as Lockett used the words “wow” and “extremely blessed” when announcing the good news. Hopefully this is good early news for the Buckeyes and the star receiver.

#Michigan is working hard on the 2025 class as well!
The 2024 recruiting cycle is drawing most of the attention right now, and rightly so. The Wolverines have the second-ranked class in the country led by five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis. High end recruits are lining up on the weekends in June to visit Ann Arbor and commitments are surely going to come this month.
While the 2024 class is sparking the interest of the fan base, the coaching staff is also working hard on the 2025 recruiting class. The Wolverines recently offered 2025 Sachse (Texas) four-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett back on May 15.
That offer for Lockett sparked interest and he announced on Twitter he would be visiting Michigan this Wednesday.

Even though the 2025 cycle is a whole year away, Lockett is listed as one of the better wide receivers according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-1 junior is ranked as the 173rd player in the cycle and the 23rd-best wide receiver in the 2025 class.
Lockett currently doesn’t have a ton of offers his way. But the more notable schools to offer him are Arizona State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, and Utah.
During his sophomore season of high school, Lockett reeled in 29 receptions for 492 yards and five touchdowns. He also runs a verified 11.54-second 100-yard dash.
