Longhorns host four-star Oklahoma commit during Georgia game

That includes four-star cornerback Courtland Guillory who was in Austin for an unofficial visit

When the Texas Longhorns took on the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, many highly rated prospects were in attendance. That includes four-star cornerback Courtland Guillory who was in Austin for an unofficial visit. While the Guillory has already committed to Oklahoma the Longhorns got make their pitch.

The Texas native is ranked as the 38th best corner in his class and the 65th best player in Texas in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports. Before committing to Oklahoma he also drew interest from Arizona, Arizona State, Eastern Illinois, and Georgia Tech. Oklahoma was the only program that Guillory visited in that group.

If Guillroy were to flip his commitment, the Longhorns would add a talented piece to the secondary for the future. The 2025 class currently consists of 21 commits, including four five-star prospects. He would get to play alongside Kaliq Lockett, Jonah Williams, Jamie Ffrench, and Myron Charles.

As recruiting season for the 2025 class continues, Guillroy will be a player for Longhorns fans to watch closely. He would help improve a Longhorns secondary that has impressed this season but is always looking for upgrades.

While Saturday did not go as planned for the Longhorns, Guillory did experience an SEC battle that featured two of the top five programs in the country. Over the next few weeks, Texas will try to convince Guillroy that Austin is the best place for him during his college career.

Longhorns recruiting target WR Andrew Marsh sets commitment date

One of the top recruits in the 2025 class, wide receiver Andrew Marsh, has set his commitment date for August 20th

One of the top recruits in the 2025 class, wide receiver Andrew Marsh, has set his commitment date for August 20th. His list has been trimmed down to Michigan, USC, Colorado, Washington, and Texas.

As Texas looks to improve its 2025 class, Marsh would be a welcome addition. He is a four-star recruit and ranked as the 13th best prospect in Texas. The Katy Jordan High School product would be joining a 2025 class that includes Kaliq Lockett. On Aug. 7, Lockett committed to Texas over Florida State and Alabama.

During his high school career, Marsh has been a human highlight reel. As a sophomore, he caught 53 passes for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. A year later, he made history in the playoffs against Morton Ranch when he caught eight passes for 240 yards and five touchdowns. Scouts nationwide see Marsh as a player who could make an impact in any offense.

Over the next 11 days, Marsh will be a player to watch. He has shown that he can thrive under pressure, which will be critical at the next level. As the Longhorns look to build one of the top offenses in the country, Marsh would be a key addition.

The Longhorns are also targeting five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, who is scheduled to announce on Aug. 30. A wide receiver group of Lockett, Marsh, and French would be a hard trio to stop.

2025 5-star WR out of Sachse (TX) has announced his commitment date

2025 5-star WR Kaliq Lockett is set to make his commitment just weeks before the start of the 2024 CFB season

With head coach Mike Elko’s inaugural 2024 season now less than two months away, the anticipation is palpable. This excitement is further fueled by the continuous growth of Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class, with plenty of elite talent already making their mark in College Station this summer.

While some prospects stick out more than others, 2025 five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett is by far the most talented receiver talent in the cycle, possessing the speed, length, catch radius, and overall athleticism to instantly succeed in the college ranks.

On Wednesday, August 7, Lockett, who recently visited College Station on June 7, will make his final decision between LSU, Florida State, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M.

According to On3, Lockett is currently positioned as the 12th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 2nd-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Texas.

A current favorite to land with the Texas Longhorns, Lockett’s Aggie visit was all but a complete success, as the incoming senior holds family ties to the University. At the same time, his brief quote spoke volumes regarding what Elko is bringing to the table:

“The culture change at A&M is eye-catching.”

The Sachse (TX) native is coming off his highly productive 2023 junior campaign, in which he recorded 59 receptions, 1,299 yards, and 13 touchdowns.

5-star LSU WR target Kaliq Lockett sets commitment date

Texas is a 77% favorite to land him Kaliq Lockett according to On3.

One of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class recently announced his commitment date and LSU is one of the five schools he is still considering.

[autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound, five-star wide receiver from Sachse, Texas, where he plays for Sachse High School. Lockett trimmed his final list of schools down to LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State, Alabama and Texas.

Lockett announced that he would be committing on Aug. 7. There are currently no crystal ball projections for Lockett but Texas is a 77% favorite to land him per On3.

LSU currently has 12 commitments for the 2025 recruiting class with one of those recruits being a wide receiver in four-star wide receiver [autotag]TaRon Francis[/autotag] from New Orleans. The Tigers lost out five-star wide receiver [autotag]Dakorien Moore[/autotag] recently and Lockett would be a great pickup to help boost this recruiting class. Lockett would join [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag] as the only two five-stars in the class.

Five-star WR target Kaliq Lockett shares selfie with Kalen DeBoer

Can Alabama land the five-star WR from Texas?

Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide football coaching staff have turned out an incredible month of June on the recruiting trail. Between official visits, commitments, and hosting camps, DeBoer and his team have generated a lot of buzz in the industry.

DeBoer and the Tide hosted one of the prized recruits in the class of 2025 during this midweek with five-star wide receiver [autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] spending time in Tuscaloosa for an official visit.

Up until Alabama landed a commitment from quarterback [autotag]Keelon Russell[/autotag], the Tide were not considered in the mix for the talented wideout, but now appear to be among the leaders for the coveted prospect.

While on his official visit, Lockett released a selfie taken with the Crimson Tide’s new head coach on his social media profile.

Take a look!

Lockett appeared to enjoy his time in Tuscaloosa with Coach DeBoer and the Alabama staff and I wouldn’t count the Tide out just yet.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Lockett’s recruitment and provide all updates as they become available.

247Sports buying stock in LSU’s 2025 recruiting class ahead of June official visit schedule

The Tigers are in a strong position entering the June official visit rush.

LSU has been on quite a heater to start the 2025 recruiting class, holding 11 commitments — headlined by five-stars [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag] and [autotag]Caden Durham[/autotag] — in a class that ranks as high as No. 2 nationally, depending on the service.

But this is the time of year that can really make or break a class. The June official visit rush is upon us, and it’s been a busy couple of weekends in Baton Rouge for the recruiting staff.

With a strong class already in place and LSU in position to land several more blue-chippers, 247Sports is buying stock in its 2025 class at this point in the cycle.

Class Summary: No. 6 Overall | 11 Commits | 93.81 Avg. Rating

That LSU moved down just three spots and remains firmly in the top 10 of the recruiting rankings after Dakorien Moore’s decommitment is a testament to just how deep and talented this class is. Brian Kelly cemented a formidable foundation for this haul with the top-ranked overall player in star quarterback Bryce Underwood, and he may not be the only five-star prospect in this group for long. Last weekend’s official visit put the Tigers in a good spot with Kaliq Lockett, and LSU emerged as perhaps the biggest threat to flip No. 1 interior offensive lineman Soloman Thomas from Florida State.

“I think if you did a straw poll of all of us at 247Sports and we had to choose a recruiting class we’re buying stock in right now, it would be LSU,” Ivins said earlier this spring.

Landing players like [autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] or [autotag]Soloman Thomas[/autotag] would be huge, and the Tigers even seem to have gotten back on Dakorien Moore’s radar after he decommitted last month, hosting him for a seemingly productive official visit this past weekend.

There’s a long way to go between now and signing day, but the Tigers have the makings of a truly special class.

LSU football gearing up for crucial recruiting weekend

The Tigers are hosting quite a few blue-chippers this weekend.

LSU is already off to a strong start recruiting in the 2025 cycle, and things could be going even better depending on how this weekend plays out.

The Tigers are playing host to several big-time visitors, including multiple five-star prospects. The headliner is [autotag]DJ Pickett[/autotag], a top-10 recruit and the nation’s top defensive back.

In addition to Pickett, five-star receivers [autotag]Kaliq Lockett[/autotag] and [autotag]Jaime Ffrench[/autotag] will be in town. The latter was previously committed to Alabama but backed off his pledge following Nick Saban’s retirement.

Rounding out the list are five-star cornerback [autotag]Dorian Brew[/autotag], five-star offensive lineman [autotag]Solomon Thomas[/autotag] — the top interior lineman in the nation who is currently committed to Florida State — and four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Zion Williams[/autotag] round out the list.

LSU already has a class that ranks in the top five nationally (fifth per 247Sports and second per On3). But if it can keep its current crop of commits in place and add a few more blue-chippers, it has the chance to be a truly special class.

Five-star WR Kaliq Lockett discusses teaming up with Dakorien Moore

Two Texas five-star receivers to Austin could happen this cycle.

Texas high school football is connected. Players within the state hold other talented players in high esteem. Five-stars Kaliq Lockett and Dakorien Moore have that mutual respect and it could mean playing for the same football team in college.

Lockett was asked if he and Moore would possibly team up at one school. He shared insight on what he’s thinking.

“Oh, yes. Me and him (have been) talking about that since we were probably in the eighth grade. … At first, we thought, you know, I thought he was gonna be staying committed to LSU. And it was going to be up to me if I wanted to go to LSU and play with him. But now, it’s starting to mix around and change up a little bit.”

The changeup is a positive for Texas and other schools, though Lockett says that it doesn’t hurt LSU’s chances in his recruitment. If the two team up, though, it probably won’t be at LSU.

Proximity is a good advantage for the Longhorns with both players. Moore would like to play closer to home if the best option allows for it. Lockett plays in Sachse (TX) the home of perhaps one of the 15 or 20 best receivers in Longhorns history and Jacksonville Jaguars receiver, Devin Duvernay.

There’s still plenty of time in both players’ recruitment, but Texas projects to be a more dangerous offense should it add either or both players.

A new 5-star group: 247Sports updates its list of best players in the class of 2025

Recruiting outlet 247Sports released its updated list of five-star players in the class of 2025, led by Bryce Underwood and Tavien St. Clair.

As the school year comes to a close, 247Sports has updated its list of five-star players for the soon-to-be seniors in the class of 2025.

Thirty-two players who will be graduating next year are ranked as five-star players, the top of the blue chips of the high school football world. LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood maintained his No. 1 spot after impressing the recruiting outlet early this summer, but other spots have shifted.

Tavien St. Clair

The Ohio State quarterback commit, ranked No. 2 by 247Sports, earned lofty praise from the outlet: “No signal-caller has made more of a year-over-year improvement.”

Listed at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, St. Clair completed 70% of his passes last year, according to the outlet. He is ranked No. 16 on the 247Sports Composite rankings, which combines rankings from other recruiting leaders like Rivals and ESPN, showing the development 247Sports perceives in his game.

Underwood has long been widely considered the top prospect in the class, but St. Clair could make a run at being the top QB and player with another outstanding season.

Ohio State reps the top of the class

The Buckeyes must be feeling good seeing this updated ranking. In addition to St. Clair taking the No. 2 spot, two other Ohio State commits are among the top six players in the class.

Star cornerback Devin Sanchez, ranked No. 4, maintains his ranking as the best cornerback in the group. He dominated for North Shore last season and had five interceptions, according to MaxPreps.

He could form a dynamic CB tandem with No. 6 Na’eem Offord, also committed to the Buckeyes. A state qualifier in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, Offord can keep up with any receiver.

247Sports wrote, “There’s plenty of debate behind the scenes as to who should hold the tag of CB1.” That’s no problem for Ohio State.

Zayden Walker

Walker’s new ranking of No. 10 on 247Sports is substantially different from his Composite ranking, No. 21. According to 247Sports, Walker impressed 247Sports with a 52-foot, 5-inch shot put toss and has been recorded running a 4.5-second 40-yard dash.

His power and speed, along with a 6-foot-1, 225-pound frame, places him as the second-ranked linebacker in the class of 2025, behind Jonah Williams at No. 7.

Kaliq Lockett

Kaliq Lockett overtook Caleb Cunningham as the No. 2 receiver in the country, behind Dakorien Moore. Lockett recorded 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior and, according to 247Sports, has a 6-foot-7 wingspan. He’s now listed at No. 11 overall in class.

USC’s presence

Only three players have committed to a university in the 11-20 range of the rankings. Those three are defensive lineman Justus Terry, quarterback Julian Lewis and EDGE rusher Isaiah Gibson.

All three are committed to USC.

Terry, ranked No. 12, is listed at 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds. His ranking is lower than the composite ranking, and 247Sports wrote that it wants to see him “improve his game plan as a pass rusher” but has the potential to “be a true difference-maker.”

Lewis, at No. 16, has often been considered the second-best quarterback in the class. This new 247Sports list has it differently. That’s not for lack of performance, as he completed 66% of his passes for 3,094 yards, 48 touchdowns and two interceptions last year.

Gibson is ranked one spot below Lewis, and 247Sports loves him in comparison to peer outlets — he’s still at No. 55 on the composite. He recorded 17 sacks last season.

Massive differences between new 247Sports ranking and Composite ranking

Gibson’s ranking No. 17 on 247Sports and No. 55 on the composite is a large gap, a difference of 38 spots. But that’s not the largest disconnect between industry-wide rankings and 247Sports’ recent analysis.

Auburn commit Malik Autry, a defensive lineman, is ranked 178 on the Composite and No. 29 in the new rankings. 247Sports says this is because he’s able to beat double teams and get into run lanes at his 6-foot-5, 320-pound size. He “might need a developmental year or two, but he projects as the ideal nose,” 247Sports wrote.

The largest gap was the penultimate player ranked five-stars, Jerome Myles — No. 31 on 247Sports’ new list and No. 228 on the Composite. “He checks off box after box for us,” wrote 247Sports, citing his blistering 10.36-second run in the 100-meter dash that broke a 43-year-old record and his performance in the championship game after returning from injury.

As other outlets begin to update their rankings over summer, will we see corresponding rises for Autry and Myles? Or does 247Sports see something others don’t?
