Jay Harper, a three-star class of 2024 cornerback from Valley, Alabama, committed to Wisconsin on Monday.

Jay Harper, a three-star class of 2024 cornerback from Valley, Alabama, committed to Wisconsin on Monday. The 6-foot, 165-pound athlete will join Luke Fickell’s football team in Madison following the conclusion of his senior year at Valley High School in 2024.

Harper selected the Badgers over 12 other Division 1 offers and an offer from HBCU Tuskegee University. The cornerback decided to join head coach Luke Fickell and his defensive coordinator Mike Tressel’s system in Madison, which churned out NFL talents Sauce Gardner and Coby Bryant at cornerback in their time at Cincinnati.

With his commitment, Harper became the fourth secondary player to pick Wisconsin for the class of 2024, joining three-star safeties Kahmir Prescott (Philadelphia, PA) and Raphael Dunn (Lawrenceville, NJ) as well as three-star cornerback Vernon Woodward (Winter Park, FL).

Vernon Woodward III, a three-star class of 2024 cornerback from Winter Park, Florida committed to Wisconsin on Sunday. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound athlete visited Madison on Friday and decided it was the right place for him.

The Badgers originally offered Woodward in early May and quickly secured his commitment just one month later. He’ll join three-star safety Kahmir Prescott (Philadelphia, PA) as the second athlete to join Wisconsin’s secondary as a member of their class of 2024.

Head coach Luke Fickell and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel will look to instill their successful defensive scheme they had at Cincinnati, though the Badgers are known as a strong D, so it shouldn’t be overly difficult.

Badgers offer three-star defensive lineman committed to Pitt

Wisconsin offered Francis Brewu, a three-star class of 2024 defensive tackle from Columbus, Ohio on Thursday.

Wisconsin offered Francis Brewu, a three-star class of 2024 defensive tackle from Columbus, Ohio on Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 270-pound athlete committed to Pittsburgh in March, but considering he’s only a junior at Thomas Worthington High School, he could choose to go elsewhere.

Overall, Brewu now has 19 Division 1 offers, including three from within the Big Ten. With Luke Fickell at the helm, the Badgers have expanded their recruiting scope to be more of a national effort, though the head coach is an Ohio native and could sway the defensive lineman to stay in the Midwest.

To this point, the Badger have gotten three defensive commitments for the class of 2024, reeling in three-star linebackers Landon Gauthier (Green Bay, WI) and Thomas Heiberger (Sioux Falls, SD) as well as three-star safety Kahmir Prescott (Philadelphia, PA).

Philadelphia safety has Penn State high on his list in 2024

Philadelphia safety target in 2024 says Penn State feels like the best fit

Penn State head coach James Franklin has made no secret just how valuable he believes the Philadelphia area can be for Penn State’s recruiting efforts. The region has produced more and more college football talent over the years and Penn State has made a push to be one of the top schools recruiting the area. And as things stand right now, Penn State has made a good impression on one recruit potentially on the rise in his recruiting process.

[autotag]Kahmir Prescott[/autotag], a three-star safety in the Class of 2024 from Philadelphia’s Northeast High School, has a clear interest in Penn State, and the Nittany Lions may be in a favorable spot in his recruiting process.

“I feel like Penn State shows the most interest and I feel that place fits me best,” Prescott said to 247Sports while attending a recruiting event in Texas over the weekend. “I love the atmosphere. I love the way they coach. I like the way they interact with kids and they show love like a family around there.”

When it comes to the schools giving Penn State the biggest run on the recruiting trail for his commitment, Prescott mentioned a Big Ten school and two other regional recruiting foes.

Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Boston College is the current competition,” Prescott said. “Badgers are up next for a visit.”

Penn State was among the first schools to extend an offer to Prescott, doing so in January 2022. Boston College was the first school to extend an offer back in October 2021. Wisconsin is the most recent school to extend a scholarship offer with one coming Prescott’s way in February of this year. Texas A&M has also handed out a scholarship offer this year.
