QB of the future posts his early season high school highlights

Badgers class of 2024 three-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer shared his Week 1 through 5 high school highlights via his “X” account Monday. Mettauer is in his final season at The Woodlands high school in Texas and he’ll be joining Wisconsin next year.

To this point, he has recorded 1,056 passing yards while adding 17 touchdowns through the air, producing a 151.0 QBR through the first five contests. Mettauer has also added 172 rushing yards and a score on the ground.

The dual-threat signal-caller will likely compete with the likes of Braedyn Locke, Nick Evers and Myles Burkett at quarterback in Phil Longo’s “Air Raid” offense in Madison next season.

Badger commit set to remain in MN for final HS season

Freitag announced that he will remain in his home state for his final year of high school, instead of heading to Southern California Academy

Daniel Freitag, a four-star class of 2024 guard from Bloomington, Minnesota committed to Wisconsin in early June. Freitag announced Sunday that he will remain in his home state for his final year of high school basketball, instead of heading to Southern California Academy as he’d previously declared.

Freitag will attend Breck School in Golden Valley, Minnesota in 2023-2024. When it comes to the Badgers, this is a positive result. If he were to have went out to the west coast, there’d likely have been a higher chance that he could decommit.

The 6-foot-2 two-sport athlete has also been recruited by the football team in Madison, something that he hasn’t ruled out also pursuing. As is, Freitag represents the fifth-highest rated recruit in Wisconsin men’s basketball history.

Wisconsin WBB adds class of ’24 commit

The Wisconsin WBB team gained their second class of 2024 commitment in 6-foot-4 forward Alie Bisballe from Lake City High School in Michigan

The Wisconsin women’s basketball team gained its second class of 2024 commitment Wednesday, adding 6-foot-4 forward Alie Bisballe from Lake City High School in Michigan.

Bisballe led her high school to a 24-2 record and district championship this past year, averaging 11.1 points per game during her junior campaign. She added 7.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.8 blocks and 1.8 steals per contest.

This is a massive recruiting win for head coach Marisa Moseley and her staff in Madison as Bisaballe selected her squad over more than a dozen other Division I offers.

The forward joins Notre Dame (Green Bay) guard Gracie Grzesk in the Badgers’ class of 2024.

Luke Fickell and Phil Longo’s offense of the future appears to be coming together with Dupree and 2024 four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, TX) figuring to be focal points.

With Braelon Allen potentially moving on the the NFL following the 2023 campaign, the addition of Dupree is a rather impactful one.

Agard will be joining the Badgers from St. Joseph’s Prep, a school that they’ve offered multiple athletes from. He selected Wisconsin over 30 other Division 1 offers, including the likes of Michigan and Penn State within the Big Ten.

Agard is the fourth secondary player to commit to Wisconsin for 2024, joining three-star safeties Kahmir Prescott (Philadelphia, PA) and Raphael Dunn (Lawrenceville, NJ) as well as three-star cornerback Jay Harper (Valley, AL). Overall, Agard is the third-highest ranked recruit for Luke Fickell’s class of 2024 so far.

Harper selected the Badgers over 12 other Division 1 offers and an offer from HBCU Tuskegee University. The cornerback decided to join head coach Luke Fickell and his defensive coordinator Mike Tressel’s system in Madison, which churned out NFL talents Sauce Gardner and Coby Bryant at cornerback in their time at Cincinnati.

With his commitment, Harper became the fourth secondary player to pick Wisconsin for the class of 2024, joining three-star safeties Kahmir Prescott (Philadelphia, PA) and Raphael Dunn (Lawrenceville, NJ) as well as three-star cornerback Vernon Woodward (Winter Park, FL).

He became the second offensive lineman to commit to Wisconsin on Tuesday alone, joining four-star tackle Kevin Heywood (Royersford, PA) in Madison. Those two, as well as three-star tackle Derek Jensen (Hartland, WI), are all set to block for Luke Fickell’s Badgers in 2024.

The Badgers have now reeled in two class of 2024 blockers with Heywood joining three-star offensive tackle Derek Jensen (Hartland, WI) in Madison. Overall, he became the 11th recruit to commit to Wisconsin next year and the second in third in three days as three-star cornerback Vernon Woodward (Winter Park, FL) committed Sunday and three-star defensive lineman Hank Weber (Brentwood, TN) committed Monday.

The Badgers originally offered Woodward in early May and quickly secured his commitment just one month later. He’ll join three-star safety Kahmir Prescott (Philadelphia, PA) as the second athlete to join Wisconsin’s secondary as a member of their class of 2024.

Head coach Luke Fickell and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel will look to instill their successful defensive scheme they had at Cincinnati, though the Badgers are known as a strong D, so it shouldn’t be overly difficult.

The 6-foot-2 athlete chose to head to Madison and play for Greg Gard and his Badger squad. Fellow Minnesota natives like Steven Crowl (Eagan, MN) and class of 2023 recruit Nolan Winter (Lakeville, MN) are amongst the players from his state that will likely be his teammates at Wisconsin.

Freitag is set to play for Southern California Academy for his final season of high school basketball in 2023 before joining the Badgers. He is the 10th ranked point guard in his class and could end up being the greatest recruit that Greg Gard has reeled in.

Additionally, he became the second player to commit to Wisconsin for the class of 2024, joining three-star Jack Robison (Lakeville, MN) in Madison.
