LOOK: Promising young WR shows off skills at Chiefs training camp

Justyn Ross showed off his skills in the red zone during Friday’s practice session at #Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph.

Expectations are at an all-time high for the Kansas City Chiefs’ receiving corps after the unit struggled to get on the same page with Patrick Mahomes last season.

Competition for top spots on Kansas City’s depth chart is fierce at Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, but as the team progresses toward its first preseason exhibition against the Jacksonville Jaguars, one receiver has set himself apart.

Third-year wideout Justyn Ross has put on a clinic at Missouri Western State University, snagging touchdowns during drills with ease as he shows off his size and speed.

Check out this video of Ross’ performance at practice on Friday, which was posted to Twitter by KC Sports Network:

Ross didn’t make much of an impact for Kansas City during his first two years in the NFL, but judging from his exceptional efforts in St. Joseph, he will be one of the most intriguing players to watch heading into the Chiefs’ preseason schedule.

Chiefs highlight young receivers in latest training camp hype video

The Kansas City #Chiefs showcased their new-look receiving corps in a hype video that was posted to social media platforms on Thursday.

The Kansas City Chiefs made the wide receiver position their top priority during the 2024 offseason after a dismal performance by their pass-catchers last year.

Now, with speedsters Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Xavier Worthy on their depth chart behind presumptive No. 1 option Rashee Rice, the team is ready to put the league on notice with a new-look air attack that promises to bring high-scoring football back to Kansas City this season.

In a video posted to social media channels on Thursday, the Chiefs sought to generate hype about their receiving corps by showcasing some of the top plays made by their wideouts during training camp.

Lesser-known contributors like Justyn Ross, Nikko Remigio, and Montrell Washington made appearances beside Brown, Worthy, and Rice in the clip, setting the stage for Kansas City’s preseason, where the Chiefs’ pass catchers will fight for a spot on the team’s roster.

Keep your eye on all of Kansas City’s wideouts to see who makes the team’s 53-man roster ahead of the 2024 regular season.

WATCH: Rashee Rice, Justyn Ross work out at Chiefs OTAs

Check out these videos of Rashee Rice and Justyn Ross working out at #Chiefs OTAs on Wednesday.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason training program is underway in Western Missouri this week as players and coaches go through organized team activities for the first time since their Super Bowl LVIII victory.

While the return of Patrick Mahomes to the practice field was a sight for the sore eyes of fans desperate for the return of NFL football, two of the Chiefs’ young receivers stole the show on the second day of workouts.

Second-year wideout Rashee Rice and fan-favorite standout Justyn Ross were seen catching balls at practice on Wednesday, marking the beginning of their 2024 campaigns.

Rice has made headlines throughout the offseason for a high-speed car crash in Dallas, Texas that landed him in legal trouble, and his appearance at OTAs took some fans by surprise.

Ross, who has been with the team since 2022, is looking to make an impact for Kansas City next season as he endeavors to make good on the unbelievable talent that earned him a spot on the Chiefs’ roster last year.

Clemson offensive stars we’d love to see in EA Sports’ College Football

A list of Clemson football offensive stars fans and gamers would love to play with on EA’s new college football series.

College football fans and gamers have been waiting a long time for a new video game to play NCAA football on Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox consoles. After more than 10 years, that wait appears to be almost over.

EA Sports announced last week that it was officially relaunching its heralded college football franchise, previously known as ‘NCAA Football,’ sometime this summer. The game will be titled ‘EA Sports College Football 25.’

Who will be on the cover and other details have yet to be finalized, but various reports state that a release date for the video game is expected to be sometime this summer, likely in either July or August.

The last college football game that was released by EA Sports was NCAA Football 14. That game featured former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson on the cover. The ‘NCAA’ series was discontinued in 2013 after a wave of lawsuits over name, image and likeness.

For Clemson fans that didn’t hold on to PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 consoles and use downloaded rosters from other online gamers, that means they missed out on playing with a lot of Tiger legends from the Dabo Swinney era.

With that in mind, we decided to put together a list of Clemson football stars from the past 10 years that we’re sure fans and gamers alike would love to play with on EA’s new college football series if the makers of the game decide to allow users to access past players.

Five former Tigers look to earn Super Bowl rings today.

Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff over the years have recruited and developed some excellent players, with five looking to earn Super Bowl rings today.

Super Bowl LVIII kicks off tonight at 6:30 p.m., with the San Francisco 49ers looking to dethrone the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. It should be a fantastic game, as both teams are stacked with talent.

The five Tigers looking for rings are Cornell Powell and Justyn Ross for the Kansas City Chiefs and Austin Bryant, Clelin Ferrell, and Ray-Ray McCloud for the 49ers. McCloud has been the most impactful for his team this season, with 428 combined return yards and 12 catches for 135 yards.

Clelin Ferrell had 28 tackles with 3.5 sacks this season for the 49ers before injuries ended his season, while Austin Bryant didn’t get much run in the defensive line rotation. Former star wide receiver Justyn Ross had six catches for 53 yards this season.

Chiefs downgrade WR Kadarius Toney’s status to out vs. Bills

The grind of the NFL regular season continues to take a toll on the Kansas City Chiefs as several players are listed on their injury report with various designations ahead of Sunday night’s divisional round matchup with the Buffalo Bills. The team announced on Saturday some status changes that should affect the lineup in Buffalo as key players are expected to be sidelined due to nagging injuries.

Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney will miss his fifth consecutive game due to hip and ankle injuries as the team has officially ruled him out for Sunday night. Toney won’t have the opportunity to redeem himself on the field following the infamous offensive offsides penalty in the teams week 14 game halting a potential Chiefs comeback victory. He’s been bothered by multiple injuries throughout the season including knee surgery at the start of training camp, finishing the 2023 campaign with 169 yards and a touchdown on 27 receptions.

On Saturday, the team also announced that defensive end Charles Omenihu is now questionable battling an illness and linebacker Willie Gay is questionable due to a neck injury. Gay was a limited participant in practice on Friday while wide receiver Justyn Ross remains questionable with a hamstring injury limiting his work in practice throughout the week.

Skyy Moore, Wanya Morris and Derrick Nnadi were ruled out on Friday according to head coach Andy Reid. Moore had been on injured reserve due to a knee injury but practiced on a limited basis this week, Morris remains in concussion protocol and Nnadi missed practice all week due to a triceps injury.

WR Justyn Ross available to return to Chiefs in Week 15 after six-game suspension

Kansas City #Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross can return to the field in Week 15 after serving a six-game suspension.

The Kansas City Chiefs will get wide receiver Justyn Ross back this week. The NFL announced Friday that Ross is off the Commissioner’s Exempt list and that he had been suspended for six games, the last of which was Sunday’s loss against the Buffalo Bills.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL suspended Ross for violating the league’s personal conduct policy in connection with his arrest on charges of domestic battery and criminal property damage in October.

“Chiefs’ WR Justyn Ross, who has missed the last five games on the Commissioner Exempt List after an October incident, will be suspended six regular season games for violating the Personal Conduct Policy, per the NFL,” posted Schefter on his X account. “Since any games a player misses while on the list is credited against his suspension, he will be back with the team on Monday after the Chiefs’ game Sunday against the Bills. He will have to pay back the six-game checks he received on paid leave.”

Ross is available at a critical time as the receiving corps has struggled with drops. Ross has three catches for 34 yards on the season.

Former Clemson wide receiver and current Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver is no longer facing criminal charges, as his case was approved for diversion.

For those who don’t know, a diversion program is an alternative to traditional criminal prosecution that aims to rehabilitate offenders rather than imposing punitive measures. Typically, it involves community-based interventions and support services to address underlying issues contributing to criminal behavior, allowing participants to avoid formal charges or incarceration.

Ross had pleaded not guilty to domestic battery and misdemeanor property damage. He is currently on the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt List, so he can’t practice, play or attend games. There is no word on when he will rejoin the team.

Former Tiger Justyn Ross has been placed on NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list.

Former Tiger and current Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross has been placed on the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt list on Friday following an arrest on Monday, being charged with domestic battery and property damage.

For those who don’t know, the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt List enables teams to designate players, at the discretion of the commissioner, as temporarily exempt from inclusion within the Active List limit for a range of reasons. The commissioner possesses the exclusive authority to determine the inclusion or exclusion of players from this list.

According to the exempt list rule, Ross is not permitted to participate in practices or attend Chiefs games. However, he is permitted to be present at the football facility for team meetings and workouts.

“Addressing that upfront. We’re taking in all the information. [We] have been will continue to do that,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said. “He’s back here, he’ll work today. And we’ll take it from there. Other than that, I really don’t have any information for you other than what we’ve gathered.”

“All the situations are different; the law enforcement part of it, you listen to the real details and what went on.” said Reid, “Then you keep open communication with Brett (Veach) and myself and people who deal with law enforcement. Then you make the final decision.”

Ross was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, seeing the first action of his NFL career this season. He recorded three catches for 34 yards this season.

Chiefs WR Justyn Ross placed on NFL commissioner’s exempt list following Monday’s arrest

Chiefs WR Justyn Ross was placed on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list following Monday’s arrest

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross has been placed on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list, making him unavailable to play or practice. The ruling was handed down from the league office shortly before the final team practice before the Chiefs travel to Denver in Week 8.

“NFL placed Chiefs’ WR Justyn Ross on the Commissioner Exempt List today following his arrest Monday for misdemeanor domestic battery and misdemeanor property damage.” posted Schefter. “He pleaded not guilty to both charges.”

While on the commissioner’s exempt list, Ross continues to be paid as an active roster member but doesn’t count against the Chiefs’ 53-man limit. He is barred from practice and attending games but can be present at the facility for meetings, to work out and to receive treatment.

Only Commissioner Roger Goodell can place a player on the exempt list; teams don’t have authority. According to NFL.com, “The Commissioner also has the authority to determine in advance whether a player’s time on the Exempt List will be finite or will continue until the Commissioner deems the exemption should be lifted, and the player returned to the Active List.”Â
