Ranking the top 10 potential free agent targets for the Seahawks in 2024

Ranking 10 pending free agents who could help this Seahawks team the most.

The Seahawks are usually never players in free agency. This past year was an exception to the rule as they splurged to sign defensive end Dre’Mont Jones to a lucrative three-year deal and added several more mid-level contracts, including reuniting with Bobby Wagner and Jarran Reed.

This coming free agency period Seattle will likely be back on the sidelines. At the moment the team only has $1.25 million in salary cap space for next year, meaning they’ll have to make some painful cuts. However, we do expect they will be able to make at least one splash signing in 2024 after they have cleared some dead weight off the books.

If that’s the case, here are 10 pending free agents who could help this Seahawks team the most.

Aggies in the NFL: Where to watch in Week 18 of the NFL Season

See where all your favorite Aggies are playing during the final Sunday of the 2023 NFL regular season.

The final week of the 2023 NFL regular season is upon us, starting on Saturday afternoon as the Top-seeded Baltimore Ravens travel to take on the desperate Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Houston Texans face the Indianapolis Colts on the road with the AFC South Title on the line.

As we see every year at this time, several season-finale matchups will determine playoff seeding and clinching opportunities, providing plenty of chaos during the start of the winter months.

Every week, we at Aggies Wire recognize all the Aggies who are still active and making an impact in the NFL. Outside of wide receiver Mike Evans and Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Justin Madubuike, Garrett, who continues to pad his Hall of Fame resume year after year, is by far having his best season yet, already recording 14 sacks, two shy of his single-season record 16 sacks during the 2021 and 2022 campaigns.

Looking ahead, playoff spots are up for grabs, and as of right now, nearly a dozen Aggies will be represented in the playoffs starting this month.

Here are the matchups, game times, and broadcasting information for several Aggies playing in the NFL on the final Sunday of the regular season.

Ravens agree to 2-year, $7.5 million contract extension with DT Michael Pierce

In a move that could help potentially absorb the potential loss of Justin Madubuike, Baltimore has agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension with Michael Pierce.

In a move that could help potentially absorb the loss of Patrick Madubuike, Baltimore has agreed to a two-year, $7.5 million contract extension with defensive tackle Michael Pierce.

The 31-year-old has 37 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a pair of fumble recoveries this season, and most importantly, he’s one of three defensive tackles on the roster set to become unrestricted free agents at season’s end.

Pierce, Madubuike, and Brent Urban could all test the open market.

Madubuike will be the name to watch as a 2023 Pro Bowler who’s amassed 11+ tackles and could land $25 million a year in compensation from another team.

Looking at the top 5 Ravens free agents Eric DeCosta must re-sign in the offseason

We’re looking at the top five in-house free agents that the Baltimore Ravens need to re-sign in the 2024 NFL offseason

General manager Eric DeCosta, Ozzie Newsome’s successor, has grown increasingly aggressive in handing out contracts, and he’s now built a Super Bowl hopeful for 2023 and beyond.

Baltimore currently has about $19,485,086 in salary cap space per Over The Cap, and they’re spending about $120+ million plus on the offensive side of the football.

The Ravens also have 27 players scheduled to hit free agency, and some tough decisions will be made regarding who returns to Baltimore.

PFF recently did an early ranking of the top 50 free agents for 2024, and John Harbaugh’s squad had four players make the list.

The overall positional spending will change in the coming years after Lamar Jackson signed a massive five-year, $260 million contract extension, making him among the three highest-paid players on average in NFL history.

With the NFL offseason fast approaching, we’re looking at five players the Ravens have to re-sign.

Three Aggies have been selected the play in the 2024 Pro Bowl

Garrett, Evans, and Madubuike have been selected to the 2024 Pro Bowl

The NFL regular season is winding down and on Wednesday the 2024 Pro Bowl rosters were released to the public.

Over the past few years, the Pro Bowl has added more player competition outside of the game where several players tend just to phone it in to avoid injuries. That is what essentially makes the game pretty boring to watch, but in recent years, they have added several events, making it a more enjoyable experience overall. Some of the events include dodgeball, Tug-of-War, relay races, and Madden.

This year three Aggies made the cut and will have a chance to complete during the week’s events. Myles Garrett, Mike Evans, and Justin Madubuike will be representing their NFL team and Aggieland in Florida in February. With all three being in the playoffs there is a chance one or two of them will need to skip the Pro Bowl to prepare for the Super Bowl but will send that update when the time comes.

Here are their stats through Week 17 of the season.

Myles Garrett – 42 tackles / 17 TFLs / 14 sacks / 4 forced fumbles / 30 QB hits

Mike Evans – 76 catches / 1233 yards / 16.2 avg / 13 touchdowns

Justin Madubuike – 54 tackles / 12 TFLs / 13 sacks / 1 forced fumbles / 32 QB hits

Congratulations to all three and we wish them luck in the playoffs.

The weirdest Pro Bowl selections and snubs for the 2024 team

The 2024 Pro Bowl teams have been announced, and here are the oddest selections and snubs.

The Pro Bowl is not a serious endeavor. We know that because at the actual Pro Bowl as it’s played now, there isn’t any actual football — it’s more like Field Day in elementary school. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but when it comes to the voting process — 1-3 from the fans, 1/3 from the coaches, and 1/3 from the players — it’s pretty frivolous. There are lifetime achievement awards which have little to do with the present, regionally-stacked oddities, and face-value selections which, again, have nothing to do with present performance.

Still, players get hefty contract incentives from Pro Bowl selections, so you know that players, agents, and teams take this seriously to a point. Now that the rosters for the 2024 Pro Bowl have been announced, here are the weirdest and worst selections.

Best Photos: Top Aggie performances from Week 17 of the NFL season

Texas A&M was well represented in Week 17 of the NFL, and we have some of the best photos for you to check out

We are now nearing the end of the regular season, and playoff pictures are starting to take shape. As we look forward to the rest of the games this week, I’d like to take some time to recognize a few top week 17 performances from Aggies in the NFL.

After a few down games, Miami running back De’Von Achane got back on track this week. While the Rookie of the Year is somewhat in the rearview mirror, Achane gives the Dolphins another homerun hitter for Tua. The game was a blowout in the Raven’s favor, but below are Achane’s numbers in that loss.

  • 14 carries / 107 yards / 7.6 avg
  • 4 catches / 30 yards / 7.5 avg / 1 TD

Donovan Wilson was a force to be reckoned with against the Lions on a Saturday night game. On top of having double-digit tackles, he had an insane diving interception that helped close out the game for the Cowboys.

  • 11 tackles / 1 interception

Defensive lineman Justin Madubuike’s sack streak came to an end Christmas day when he was not able to reach the 49ers QB. He returned to his old ways against the Dolphins, recording his 13th sack of the season, tying him for 8th in the NFL. He is well on his way to an All-Pro selection at the defensive tackle position. Here are his stats from the big win over Miami.

  • 5 tackles / / 1 sack / 1 QB hit

Another great week for these former Aggies, and you can check out some of the best photos from week 17.

Former Texas A&M DL Justin Madubuike has continued to play at a Pro Bowl level for the Baltimore Ravens

Current Baltimore star defensive lineman Justin Madubuike has continued to dominate in the trenches during his breakout season.

Former Texas A&M defensive tackle Justin Madubuike has been tearing it up during the 2023 NFL Season, already becoming the first Raven since 2017 to record double-digit sack totals with 13 through 16 games, tied for eighth in the league.

Already accumulating 21.5 sacks during his first four seasons, Madubuike is set to become a free agent after the 2023 season. While the Ravens attempted to sign the ascending defender last summer, Madubuike, as he did throughout his collegiate career at Texas A&M, bet on himself, leading to the Pro Bowl performance we’ve witnessed throughout the year.

Playing at the left defensive end in defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald’s 3-4 base system, he has wreaked havoc on opposing guards, consistently winning on bull rushes while showing impressive speed to track down the quarterback outside the pocket. Coming out of Texas A&M, from 2017-2019,  Madubuike recorded 105 tackles and 11 sacks, including back-to-back 5.5 sacks total in 2018-2019, and 24.5 tackles for loss.

With the Ravens sitting at 13-3 and earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Madubuike could finish Top 10 in sacks with a Super Bowl ring heading into free agency with a load of personal momentum.

Ravens PFF grades: Best and worst performers from 56-19 win over Dolphins

We’re looking at the highest and lowest graded players in the Baltimore Ravens 56-19 win over the Miami Dolphins

The Ravens are champions of the AFC North and the No. 1 seed in the conference after dismantling the Miami Dolphins, 56-19 on Sunday afternoon.

Lamar Jackson was near perfect on the afternoon, going 18-for-21, for 321-yards passing, along with 35 rushing yards to add.

His performance likely wrapped up his second MVP award since 2019.

With preparation for the finale against Pittsburgh starting to begin, we’re looking at the highest and lowest graded players in Week 17 via PFF.

Aggies in the NFL: Where to watch in Week 17 of the NFL Season

See where all your favorite Aggies are playing during the 17th Sunday and Monday of the 2023 NFL regular season.

Week 17 of the 2023 NFL Season wasn’t very exciting unless you’re a Cleveland Browns fan. Defeating the visiting New York Jets 37-20, the veteran quarterback and potential Comeback Player of the Year candidate Joe Flacco threw three touchdowns against his former team, while former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, a favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, recorded, three tackles, a sack, and four QB hits including double-digit pressures.

Looking ahead, playoff spots are up for grabs, and as of right now, nearly a dozen Aggies will be represented in the international playoffs starting next month.

Here are the matchups, game times, and broadcasting information for several Aggies playing in the NFL this Sunday and Monday.
