Patriots’ full 7-round 2023 mock draft 7.0

Multiple trades and even a surprise first-round pick highlights this seven-round mock draft for the Patriots.

The 2023 NFL draft is two weeks away, and it’s hard to contain the excitement, fear, anxiety or any other feelings that come up when trying to manifest a good draft for such an unpredictable team like the New England Patriots.

New England still holds the No. 14 overall pick, but in this “what they would do” mock draft, that changes with a big first-round trade. Who knows? Maybe the same is the case when the time actually comes for the Patriots to turn in their first player card on April 27.

Let’s get into this full 7-round mock draft.

NFL Draft: The second annual All Forno Team

For the second-consecutive season, here is the 2023 All-Forno team of @TheRealForno’s favorite draft prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Welcome to the second annual All-Forno Team!

Last year, I introduced the first rendition of the All-Forno team with six players. They were my favorites in the draft class and I have brought the team back for the second year.

This list isn’t about what prospects are the best. That has no bearing on making the All-Forno team. It’s about more than that. These are the players I had the most fun watching this cycle, and they all vary a little bit from each other.

Here is the 2023 All-Forno team.

Rams 2023 Draft Prospect Profile: Julius Brents (CB, Kansas State)

Julius Brents out of Kansas State is an enticing CB prospect the Rams could target in the 2023 NFL draft.

The Los Angeles Rams have a variety of holes on their roster ahead of the 2023 season. Following the trade of Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins, the Rams will unquestionably need to improve at the cornerback position this offseason.

While there are veterans available in free agency, the Rams could certainly use at least one of their 11 picks in the 2023 NFL draft on a cornerback. Cobie Durant is currently atop the depth chart after a productive rookie campaign in 2022.

With the Rams needing to address the cornerback position, Julius Brents out of Kansas State is an intriguing prospect in the 2023 NFL draft.

1 CB prospect for the Colts in each round of NFL draft

There are plenty of CB prospects the Colts can consider in the 2023 NFL draft.

The Indianapolis Colts are just over two weeks away from the start of the 2023 NFL draft where they’ll be looking to add talent and depth to the roster.

Pound-for-pound, the cornerback position may rival the quarterback room in terms of pure need on the roster. The projected starters in the room, Kenny Moore II and Isaiah Rodgers Sr., are both in contract years. The trade of Stephon Gilmore this offseason placed a massive hit on the depth of the room.

While there are still some free agents the Colts could target before the draft, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they wound up signing a veteran and then using two of their selections to add depth and competition to the room. That’s how thin the roster is.

Following this series of articles, we’ve also looked at the quarterback and wide receiver positions.

We’ll be tracking the Colts’ reported interest in the 2023 draft class so be sure to keep up with latest updates via our tracker.

Here’s a look at cornerback prospect who fits the Colts in each round of the draft:

Titans among teams set to meet with CB Julius Brents

The Titans reportedly have a pre-draft visit scheduled with Kansas State CB Julius Brents.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly one of several teams set to meet with Kansas State cornerback Julius Brents ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers are among the dozen teams.

Here’s a look at what NFL.com draft expert Lance Zierlein had to say about the prospect who is projected to be a Day 2 pick:

Brents is a classic zone cover corner with an outstanding blend of size, length and leaping ability. He has the disruptive traits to reroute the release and the dog in him to handle his business in run support. He can play some press-man on a vertical plane but lacks the top-end speed and pattern matching to play in that scheme full-time. Brents needs to maintain eye discipline from zone but has the ball skills to win a battle for the pass when he’s in position. While he’s likely to be targeted in the draft as a zone-based corner, he has the instincts and demeanor to make a move to safety if needed.

While the Titans have plenty of youth and promise in their secondary going into 2023, there are also plenty of injury concerns. Adding to that, 2020 second-round pick Kristian Fulton is in a contract year.

It’s possible the Titans add a cornerback at some point in this year’s draft, but the position isn’t among the team’s biggest needs at the moment.

48 draft prospects attend Colts’ local pro day in 2023

The Colts hosted 48 draft prospects at their local pro day.

The Indianapolis Colts held a local pro day for eligible prospects ahead of the 2023 NFL draft Monday, and there were some intriguing names on the list.

While the local pro days typically serve as a chance for lesser-known prospects to show off their talent, there were some big names participating during Monday’s workout.

There were a few names we knew the Colts have interest in either because they previously worked out for the team or because they reportedly have a top-30 visit scheduled.

Here’s a look at the 48 prospects who attended the Colts’ local pro day ahead of the 2023 draft:

Panthers to bring in Kansas State CB Julius Brents for top-30 visit

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Panthers will be bringing in 6-foot-4 CB Julius Brents in for a top-30 visit.

As first reported by NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo on Monday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers are set to bring in Kansas State University cornerback Julius Brents for a top-30 visit. The 23-year-old defender—who has at least “a dozen” meetings awaiting him—will also be visiting with the Baltimore Ravens, his hometown Indianapolis Colts, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans.

Brents is, clearly, an intriguing prospect—and it starts with what initially meets the eye. He stands at 6-foot-4 and 198 pounds with 34-inch arms and a nearly 83-inch wingspan—one that ranks in the 99th percentile of all cornerbacks measured since 1999.

Those physical gifts have been put to good use on the field, particularly during his time in Manhattan. Brents, following his transfer from the University of Iowa, played in 17 games for the Wildcats between 2021 and 2022—recording 94 combined tackles (6.5 for a loss), six interceptions and a forced fumble.

With the Panthers in need of depth at the cornerback position—with or without a healthy duo of Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson—Brents could be an option with the 39th overall selection.

Report: Colts to host CB Julius Brents for top-30 visit

The Colts are scheduled to bring in CB Julius Brents for a top-30 visit.

The Indianapolis Colts reportedly are among the teams scheduled to host Kansas State cornerback Julius Brents for a top-30 visit ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

The cornerback position is one of the biggest positions of need for the Colts entering the draft, and there’s a good chance they’ll need to use their second-round pick (No. 35 overall) to address the position.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Brents has visits scheduled with the Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens.

One of the most athletic cornerbacks in the 2023 class, Brents is a perfect fit as a boundary cornerback in Gus Bradley’s zone-heavy scheme. He fits the locker room culture the Colts want to develop, and he could compete for starting snaps early on during his rookie contract.

While there have been questions about his ability to make plays on the ball, he showed an improved ability to do so during his senior season at Kansas State by leading the team with eight passes defended and four interceptions.

A local product of Warren Central, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if Brents is pretty high on the team’s board as a projected Day 2 pick.

We’ll be tracking the Colts’ reported interest in the 2023 draft class so be sure to keep up with latest updates via our tracker.

The deepest position group in the 2023 NFL draft class is supposed to be cornerback.

The deepest position group in the 2023 NFL draft class is supposed to be cornerback. Equipped with 10 picks and a great eye for DB talent, the Seahawks have a real chance to secure two excellent long-term starters on the boundaries if they can find the right one to pair with Tariq Woolen.

With that in mind, here are 17 potential cornerback targets for Seattle in the draft, including some of the top prospects and a few who they have held official meetings with.

Colts’ 7-round mock draft with trades

In this mock draft, the Colts make a few trades early on.

The Indianapolis Colts are less than a month away from the start of the 2023 NFL draft, which means there is going to be a lot of information and projections coming out of the woodwork over the next few weeks.

That includes conducting mock drafts and projecting what the Colts will do with their nine selections. We should expect a number of trades as general manager Chris Ballard has never gone through a draft without making a deal in some capacity.
