Titans among teams set to meet with CB Julius Brents

The Titans reportedly have a pre-draft visit scheduled with Kansas State CB Julius Brents.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly one of several teams set to meet with Kansas State cornerback Julius Brents ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers are among the dozen teams.

Here’s a look at what NFL.com draft expert Lance Zierlein had to say about the prospect who is projected to be a Day 2 pick:

Brents is a classic zone cover corner with an outstanding blend of size, length and leaping ability. He has the disruptive traits to reroute the release and the dog in him to handle his business in run support. He can play some press-man on a vertical plane but lacks the top-end speed and pattern matching to play in that scheme full-time. Brents needs to maintain eye discipline from zone but has the ball skills to win a battle for the pass when he’s in position. While he’s likely to be targeted in the draft as a zone-based corner, he has the instincts and demeanor to make a move to safety if needed.

While the Titans have plenty of youth and promise in their secondary going into 2023, there are also plenty of injury concerns. Adding to that, 2020 second-round pick Kristian Fulton is in a contract year.

It’s possible the Titans add a cornerback at some point in this year’s draft, but the position isn’t among the team’s biggest needs at the moment.
