With Karol Rosa out, Gina Mazany steps in to face Julia Avila on UFC’s June 13 event

Gina Mazany has gotten the call back to the UFC and will step in on short notice to face Julia Avila on June 13.

[autotag]Gina Mazany[/autotag] is back in the UFC.

Karol Rosa has been forced out of the UFC’s June 13 event and Mazany (6-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) will step in on short notice to face [autotag]Julia Avila[/autotag] (7-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC), two persons with knowledge of the booking told MMA Junkie on Thursday. They asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Mazany parted ways with the UFC in January after suffering back-to-back losses to Lina Lansberg and Macy Chiasson. Later that month, she picked a first-round stoppage win over Valerie Barney at a King of the Cage event.

Avila hasn’t competed in nearly a year. In July 2019, she defeated Pannie Kianzad with a unanimous decision in her UFC debut. Avila holds wins over current UFC bantamweight Marion Reneau and former UFC flyweight champion Nicco Montano.

With the addition, the UFCā€™s June 13 lineup includes:

  • Cynthia Calvillo vs. Jessica Eye
  • Mark De La Rosa vs. Jordan Espinosa
  • Karl Roberson vs. Marvin Vettori
  • Ryan Benoit vs. Tyson Nam
  • Andre Fili vs. Charles Jourdain
  • Mariya Agapova vs. Melissa Gatto
  • Julia Avila vs. Gina Mazany

UFC bantamweight Julia Avila featured in recent ‘South Park’ episode

Julia Avila was turned into a “South Park” character in a recent episode of the show.

Following her win over Pannie Kianzad at UFC 239, [autotag]Julia Avila[/autotag] gave us all a geology lesson in her post-fight interview.

A geologist herself, she went through the steps of earthquake safety, which was then turned into a little video by the CEO of her management company, TKO Combat Sports & Entertainment. He put together Avila’s earthquake safety instructions and merged them with the reactions of “South Park” comedy series character Randy Marsh, who in the show is also a geologist, in a hilarious video.

That caught the attention of someone at the show, and Avila was added as a character in a recent “South Park” episode. Pretty cool, huh?
