Highlights of new Bears S Jonathan Owens

The Bears have signed safety Jonathan Owens. Here are some highlights of Chicago’s newest defensive back.

The Chicago Bears signed veteran safety Jonathan Owens to a two-year deal on Tuesday.

Owens comes to Chicago after spending one year with the Green Bay Packers, where he had a pretty good year. He totaled 84 tackles, including two for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and three pass breakups.

Before his one-year stint in Green Bay, he spent the first four years of his career with the Houston Texans.

This is a fun move for some people who know he’s the husband of Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles. She is one of the greatest American Olympians of all time, and now her husband is coming to Chicago.

In terms of football, Owens is going to be a great addition to the = Bears secondary. With some of the things they are doing on the defensive side of the ball, it is clear that they are going to have a very strong unit in 2024. Getting him out of Green Bay is a plus, as well.

These are some of the best Owens highlights:

Simone Biles posts the sweetest 6-word Instagram post about Jonathan Owens after Packers season ends

This was the sweetest.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have heard it all in recent weeks with all the backlash over the Green Bay Packers’ safety and his version of the story about how he met the legendary gymnast.

But they’ve deflected all that on social media, ignoring all the haters and continuing to talk about what they love about each other.

Now, with Owens’ NFL season ending after the Green Bay Packers were eliminated from the playoffs, Biles has posted on Instagram with a simple message along with photos of the pair, perhaps a way of putting any “controversy” to rest if that exists:

Owens responded, too:

Travis Kelce and Jason make fun of Simone Biles’ ‘boyfriend’ Jonathan Owens on New Heights podcast

Looks like Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce caught wind of all that backlash aimed at Simone Biles’ husband.

Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce may have been keeping track of all the backlash aimed at Jonathan Owens recently due to his comments about his wife Simone Biles and who was the catch in that relationship.

Because on Wednesday’s edition of theĀ New Heights podcast, the Kelces discussed Travis being nominated for a People’s Choice Award. Then, Jason wondered — sarcastically, of course — why Simone Biles was nominated and not Owens, the Green Bay Packers safety. He called Owens her “boyfriend,” and then he and Travis had a laugh, with the Chiefs tight end remarking, “He played some good ball over there, I guess.”

Ouch!

Simone Biles breaks down what she loves about ‘very fine’ husband Jonathan Owens in Vanity Fair

Simone Biles broke down what she loves about Jonathan Owens.

We knew Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens were all good after all the backlash that sprouted out of the Green Bay Packers safety’s version of how he and the legendary gymnast met.

And in the latest Vanity Fair, Biles reaffirmed what she loves about Owens in a long feature about her.

“If Iā€™m going to be honest, obviously heā€™s very fine,” she said. “[But] besides his looks, he was so sweet and kind, and I think what I liked about him was his confidence. He truly believes heā€™s the best at everything,”

Owens was quoted in the article, mentioning that she did message him first — which we’ve heard before — but here’s what he had to say about his wife when they met:

ā€œI just noticed her laugh,ā€ Owens says of those initial interactions. ā€œIt was just contagious. We could talk all day and weā€™d stayed up late, and there just wasnā€™t an awkward moment.ā€

Awww. Check out adorable photos of them over the years as a couple.Ā

Simone Biles has a 4-word response possibly about the continued Jonathan Owens backlash

Simone Biles seems tired of all the backlash over the comments from her husband, Jonathan Owens.

The discourse over Jonathan Owens’ recent comments over who was the “catch” in the relationship between him and legendary gymnast Simone Biles has somehow continued for another day, despite the fact that both Owens and Biles have responded on Instagram brushing off all the backlash.

A reminder: Owens has said multiple times that he didn’t realize who Biles was when they found each other on a dating app, and some laughs over who was pursuing whom has led to a whole bunch of posts on social media ripping the Green Bay Packers safety.

Biles had one more post to add to the subject that she put up on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram Stories:

That’s her message!

7 adorable Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens photos of the couple over the years

A look back at the athlete-athlete couple over the years.

It’s one of the best athlete and athlete couples out there: Simone Biles, the legendary gymnast who is already an all-time great Olympian, and NFL safety Jonathan Owens, who as of publishing this is with the Green Bay Packers.

The two famously met on a dating app and although there was some backlash connected to Owens telling that story about who the “catch” really was, the couple is so happy.

They got engaged back in 2021 and said “I do” in 2023. We’ve seen them a lot over the years, including with sideline kisses before NFL games.

Here’s a look at the couple over the years:

Simone Biles seemingly responds to Jonathan Owens backlash with a 1-word Instagram post

Here’s what Simone Biles had to say to all that backlash.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have both appeared to respond to all the backlash surrounding the comments the Green Bay Packer made about how he and the legendary gymnast met.

At the center of it all was the fact that Owens didn’t know Biles was an all-time great athlete, and that she pursued him (which Biles disputed) as the “catch” in the relationship.

Owens responded on Instagram by captioning a photo of him and Biles with “Unbothered … just know we locked in over here.” And Biles? She went even shorter with one word in a fun photo from their wedding: “Mood.”

Jonathan Owens had the perfect 1-word response to the Simone Biles backlash

Jonathan Owens has his priorities straight when it comes to Simone Biles

Whew, boy. Jonathan Owens has been catching it from all sides of the internet over the last 24 hours.

Simone Biles and Owens shared the story of how they first met on a dating app onĀ The PivotĀ podcast with Ryan Clark. The story is hilarious. Owens said they matched on a dating app, connected in person and things took off from there.

But there’s a couple of plot twists, though. First, Owens said that Biles was actually the one who pursued him. “I always say men are the catch,” Owens said to Clark. Biles says it was the other way around, of course.

The other plot twist is that somehow or another, Owens says, he had no idea who Biles was. Yes. That’s right. TheĀ Simone Biles. Owens had no idea who she was.

This is already the perfect Hallmark movie, man. It’s hilariousĀ andĀ adorable. You can’t beat that.

Some people don’t see it that way, though. There are plenty of folks out there who feel like Owens is being disrespectful to his wife here. And, for those folks, Owens had the perfect one-word response to it all on Instagram.

“Unbothered.”

That’s how you respond. Shoutout to Owens and Biles, man. They seem so happy together. We love to see it.

Simone Biles hilariously disputes Jonathan Owens’ version of how they connected on a dating app

Jonathan Owens believes he was the real prize, but Simone Biles isn’t buying it.

Simone Biles may be the most prominent gymnast in the world, but her husband says he was the real catch when they met on a dating app.

Simone Biles is an Olympic gold medalist ā€” the most decorated ever in her sportĀ ā€” but even she needed some help landing the man of her dreams. Before she met her future husband, Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens, Biles joined a dating app hoping to meet “Mr. Right.”

So did Jonathan Owens.

The pair eventually matched with each other’s profiles, and a short time later, Biles messaged Owens to connect in person. The pair hit it off and have been inseparable ever since.

However, when the newlyweds recently sat down with Ryan Clark’sĀ The PivotĀ podcast, they shared one shocking detail about their dating history: Not only Owens was nearly oblivious to who Biles was and how ridiculous her gymnastics resumĆ© had become, but he says Biles pursued him.

Biles was not in alignment with his version of the story and quickly clarified what happened while chuckling and smiling away.

Referee Brad Allen embarrassed the NFL on Sunday night, and nothing will be done about it

Referee Brad Allen embarrassed the NFL on Sunday night’s Packers-Chiefs game, but what will be done about it? And how would we know?

Two things can be true.

The Green Bay Packers deserved to beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

Referee Brad Allen and his crew made such a mess of things in that game, we’ll never know who really won.

The call (or no-call) everyone’s talking about in the Packers’ 27-19 win was the missed obvious pass interference call on Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine with 50 seconds left in the game, and it was BAD. Valentine so obviously impeded receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s ability to play the ball, there was no other call to make.

It absolutely should have been pass interference, the Chiefs should have had the ball inside the Green Bay 10-yard line, and from there? You never know what will happen.

And we will never know what would have happened. We also have the two-hand shove given to Travis Kelce by Packers safety Jonathan Owens on this Hail Mary pass at the end of the game. Yes, officials let a lot of contact go on those types of throws, but this was, again, obvious.

Not that the Chiefs were the only team hosed near the end of the game. It’s hard to top the unnecessary roughness penalty given to Owens on this hit of Patrick Mahomes with 1:05 left in the game. This really started the rodeo.

There was also Allen not letting the clock run when Valdes-Scantling was pushed out of bounds with 24 seconds left in the game. Because Valdes-Scantling was pushed backward, and his forward progress had stopped, the game clock should have kept running. But it didn’t.

After the game, Allen “explained” himself in a pool report.

The “covering officials” should be fined and suspended for missing such an obvious call (set of calls, really), but as far as we know, that will not happen. The NFL does not make discipline of officials public, nor does it make the reviews of officials public. If an official is downgraded for a game like this, we don’t know about it, and if a downgraded official somehow gets a postseason assignment, we don’t know that, either. Which really isn’t a good look for the NFL.

There is no one way to fix an officiating problem that has become the league’s top story without question this season, but some level of transparency would help. If the media wants to speak to an official after a game, that official should be made available, and the interview should be made available to the public. NFL senior V.P. of officiating Walt Anderson should have a weekly press conference — also made available to the public — in which he can explain any calls or no-calls media may have questions about.

And in the case of this particular debacle, the “covering officials” should not be able to slink away anonymously. They should also be made available to answer questions. That level of accountability might bring a fraction of change to a profession that is clearly in need of quite a bit more than that.

But, that will not happen. Certainly not before the Competition Committee meets at the league meetings next March. Until then, there will be more bad officiating, more games altered in ways they shouldn’t be, and more fan frustration because the fans are asked to lap the product up without question.

That’s hardly the American way, at least in theory, but it is certainly the NFL way.
