Huber transferred to the Badgers before the 2023 season after three years at Cincinnati, one as its starting right tackle. With Riley Mahlman entrenched at the position and Nelson set at left tackle, Huber’s path to playing time was along the interior.

He started all 25 games at right guard for the Badgers during his two years with the program. His strong play at the position was rewarded with being named to the All-Big Ten Third Team (coaches). For reference, Huber was the only Badger to land on an all-conference team after the 2024 season.

The accomplished lineman is currently projected to be signed as an undrafted free agent after the upcoming draft. He’ll have plenty of opportunities to change that standing, starting with the East-West Shrine Bowl on Jan. 30.

The honorable mention group includes safety Hunter Wohler, cornerback Ricardo Hallman, offensive lineman Jack Nelson, running back Tawee Walker and punter Atticus Bertrams. This is the second consecutive season Hallman and Wohler earned Big Ten accolades after the defensive back duo landed on All-Big Ten squads in 2023.

Hallman, fresh off an All-Big Ten third team nod in 2023, recorded 16 tackles for Wisconsin this year, while Walker finished with 864 yards and 10 touchdowns to pace UW’s backfield.

To round out Wisconsin’s 2024 postseason accolades, Bertrams recorded a 45.3 punting average as a sophomore, the second-best mark in the Big Ten.

Huber, Nelson, Wohler, Walker and Hallman were all celebrated on Wisconsin’s senior day on Nov. 29. Other than Bertrams, the entire group of all-conference honorees has likely played their final games at Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin football team is now 60 days away from their 2023 opener versus Buffalo on Sept. 2 as the college football season is closing in. With Luke Fickell at the helm, the Badgers have seen countless additions in 2023, including a new number 60.

Offensive lineman Joe Huber transferred to Wisconsin after two seasons with Cincinnati, starting at right tackle for the Bearcats in 2022. He was joined by fellow Cincinnati o-lineman Jake Renfro in Madison, who he’s expected to backup at center this year.

With Wisconsin’s offensive line pretty much intact from last year, Huber will have to battle at practice to potentially earn a starting nod at some point in 2023. That being said, he will still have at least one more year of eligibility after the upcoming campaign.

Pro Football Focus released their top 10 highest-graded offensive tackles that are returning to college football in 2023 on Saturday and Wisconsin tackle Joe Huber was ranked fifth overall.

Huber transferred to Wisconsin this offseason after three seasons, two active, with the Cincinnati Bearcats. The offensive tackle followed his his head coach Luke Fickell and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel to Madison. Huber operated as the starting right tackle for Cincinnati, though it’s possible he slides into a guard role in 2023 with the Badgers as Riley Mahlman may be the starting right tackle.

Regardless of where he starts, Huber’s 80.6 rating as a tackle in 2022 bodes well for new quarterback Tanner Mordecai (SMU) and returning running backs Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi.
