Chiefs LB Nick Bolton on the significance of wearing Tyrann Mathieu’s former number

#Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton described the significance of wearing Tyrann Mathieu;s former number in comments to the media on Tuesday. | from: @EdEastonJr

The post-game jersey swap has gained significance worldwide, with star players posing for photos out of mutual respect. The NFL has done this often, with a significant exchange occurring Sunday between Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton and former teammate Tyrann Mathieu.

The former teammates exchanged jerseys for a photo that had a deeper meaning that stems from the number 32 itself. Bolton explained during Tuesday’s press conference the impact of Mathieu and his jersey number switch.

“Yeah, [at one] time he had 32, and I was here and 32, my sister’s favorite two numbers. Three and two. When he was here, I never even questioned him about taking his jersey or paying for it or anything to try and get it off,” Bolton explained. “I feel he represents it the right way, and how much just cared about sports is passion-wise.

“He carried that out in a great manner, so when I had the opportunity to grab the number and represent it the right way, I was excited for it, [after] having a guy like that [wear it]. I watched a lot of football [growing up], [I] grew up an SEC football lover, [an] LSU [and] Alabama fan… So that all that is coming together, you got a lot of respect for him. So it was great to have the opportunity and to know he left on the back of it was special. And I know this is a bit a little bit bigger than football. So special for me, for sure.”

Mathieu has been the starting safety for the Saints since last season after leaving Kansas City in free agency. Bolton hopes to imitate the safety’s former role as an emotional leader on the Chiefs’ defense during the 2023 season.

Derek Carr’s brother likes the idea of him joining the Saints

Derek Carr’s brother likes the idea of him joining the Saints. Darren Carr took to Twitter to share a jersey swap that put the Raiders QB in black and gold:

Ever wondered what Derek Carr would look like in a New Orleans Saints jersey? Here’s a mock-up from his older brother. Darren Carr shared an edited photo of the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback wearing black and gold (well, gold and white, given it’s their away jersey) in a post from his personal Twitter account on Wednesday. Coincidentally, Carr is visiting the Saints team facility at the same time, ahead of the Raiders trade deadline next week on Feb. 15.

Though he’s enjoyed having his younger brother nearby while coaching football at Bakersfield Christian High School in Southern California, the elder Carr is already stumping for a move to New Orleans. The Saints are in the driver’s seat to acquire Carr after scheduling his visit and agreeing to meet the Raiders’ asking-price in a trade, though they could also wait until he’s released next week and try to sign him as a free agent. That may not be ideal with other teams entering the mix and starting a bidding war.

A lot of eyes are on New Orleans as they navigate this complex situation. Carr wields a no-trade clause in his contract that he can use to block a move, and that hard deadline with Las Vegas ensures he owns the most leverage in these negotiations. Let’s see if Carr’s family gets their wish.

Was Amari Cooper recruiting Daron Payne?

Daron Payne sets the record straight.

Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne put forth another dominant performance in Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Payne registered two more sacks, giving him 11.5 for the season and tying him with franchise legend Dave Butz for the most in a single season by an interior defensive lineman in Washington’s history.

After the game, the soon-to-be free agent caught up with Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper and swapped jerseys. Cooper, in his first season with Cleveland, burned the Commanders for two touchdowns.

The connection here is obvious. Both starred at the University of Alabama before entering the NFL as first-round picks. Cooper was gone by the time Payne enrolled in 2015 but clearly holds Cooper in high regard.

Afterward, Browns fans, some of whom may have never heard of the customary postgame jersey swaps, believed this was a clear sign Payne was coming to Cleveland in 2023. Meanwhile, Washington fans also chimed in, upset about the Commanders being eliminated after losing to the Browns.

Payne took to Twitter to set the record straight; this was all about respect, as Cooper was someone he has long admired.

This happens every week in every NFL game. Trading jerseys with someone on the other team is not news.

Perhaps Payne signs with Cleveland in the offseason or with the Falcons. Or maybe, he ends up with the Chicago Bears. But don’t be surprised if he’s back in Washington under the dreaded franchise tag.

WATCH: Terry McLaurin and Kevin Durant swap jerseys

Terry McLaurin went to see the Wizards and Nets on Friday.

It’s no secret that NBA superstar Kevin Durant is a huge fan of the Washington Commanders. Growing up in Prince George’s County, Md., near FedEx Field, Durant has never been shy about his love for Washington’s NFL franchise.

Durant often tweets about Washington’s games and proudly wears team gear.

On Friday, Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin went to see Durant and his Brooklyn Nets face the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena in Washington.

Before the game McLaurin met up with Durant, giving him one of his jerseys. Durant was clearly excited about the gift.

After the game, Durant returned the favor, taking off his game-worn jersey and signing it for McLaurin.

While McLaurin may have met with Durant, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t rooting for the hometown Wizards. McLaurin also spent time chatting with Wizards star Bradley Beal.

Durant led the Nets with 28 points in a 128-86 win over the Wizards.

Two of the greatest passers in football swapped uniforms in Green Bay on Saturday night.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne exchanged signed jerseys inside Lambeau Field, according to De Bruyne’s official Instagram account. Rodgers later shared the post on his own official Instagram.

Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, is a big fan of Man City, one of the top clubs in the English Premier League. In the photo, Rodgers is wearing an older version of Man City’s light blue uniform.

Man City beat Bayern Munich in the first-ever soccer match played at a rain-soaked Lambeau Field on Saturday night. De Bruyne’s build-up play led to Man City’s winning goal 12 minutes into the contest.

On the No. 12 Packers uniform, Rodgers wrote: “Kevin, love watching you play. You’re a legend.”

De Bruyne responded: “To the legend Aaron Rodgers, all the best.”

De Bruyne, a Belgium native, has played for Man City since 2015. He’s since developed into a world-class player and one of the best midfielders in the sport. He’s twice won Playmaker of the Season in the Premier League. Last year, De Bruyne finished second in the league in chances created.

JERSEY SWAP: Graphic designer gives a first-look at Jameson Williams in Lions uniform

Check out what Jamo will look like on Sundays for the Detroit Lions!

Former Alabama wide receiver [autotag]Jameson Williams[/autotag] is now in the NFL as a member of the Detroit Lions.

Williams spent only one season with the Crimson Tide in 2021 after originally playing for, the Ohio State Buckeyes for two years.

Last night, Williams was selected No. 12 overall by the Lions, which came as somewhat of a surprise. Three other receivers were chosen before Williams and Detroit decided to trade with the Minnesota Vikings to scoop him up before another team did.

Though it has been less than 24 hours since he as drafted, we now have a picture of Williams in a full Lions uniform. Well, not a completely real picture, but an edited one.

Zach Chatham, a graphic designer, who goes by ‘The Graphic God’ on Twitter, shared a jersey swap of the speedy wide receiver sporting the Motor City’s colors.

WATCH: Chase Young and Stefon Diggs swap jerseys after Washington’s loss to Bills

Watch Chase Young and Stefon Diggs struggle to get their jerseys off for postgame swap.

After Washington’s 43-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, a pair of Maryland natives met on the field to swap jerseys.

Washington defensive end Chase Young and Buffalo wide receiver Stefon Diggs struggled to get their jerseys off for the customary jersey swap we often see after NFL games.

Diggs caught six passes for 60 yards in Buffalo’s Week 3 win over Washington. Young finished the game with three tackles and has yet to get his first sack of the 2021 season.

Diggs played his high school football at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Maryland. Young began his high school career at St. Vincent Pallotti High in Laurel before transferring to DeMatha, where he spent his final two years.

Ultimately, the two stars were able to remove their jerseys and pose for a photograph.

JERSEY SWAP: What would Mac Jones look like in various NFL uniforms?

Former Alabama QB Mac Jones is likely going to be off the board in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. Where he lands is still a …

Former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones exceeded all expectations in his 2020 campaign, which led to the Crimson Tide earning national championship No. 18.

Jones’ draft value also skyrocketed throughout his final season. While he was not originally seen as a first-round player, he’s now shot up to the top-10 conversation.

As NFL fans await the 2021 NFL draft, they are left with minimal clues as to who their favorite team may draft. However, a lot of fans do have preferred targets.

Some of these fans go to great lengths to see their preferred player in their team’s uniforms, and plenty have done that to Jones.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints no longer have Drew Brees, which means they are forced to find their quarterback of the future. Could it be Jameis Winston, or could it be the rookie out of Alabama?

Next … New England Patriots

JERSEY SWAP: What would Najee Harris look like in various NFL uniforms?

Fans love doing jersey swpas, so here are some that place Alabama RB Najee Harris in different potential landing spots in the NFL draft

With the 2021 NFL draft upon us, fans of every team have their preferred first-round targets. Each franchise has a specific set of needs that can be met through the draft, and fans simply cannot wait to see this next generation take the field.

In order to get a glimpse into the future, fans and graphic designers try their hands at swapping players out of their collegiate uniforms, and into those of NFL teams.

One player that does not have a set landing spot in the draft is former Alabama running back Najee Harris.

Here are some examples of what Harris may look like during his rookie season:

Miami Dolphins (Pick No. 6, 18)

The Dolphins will likely look to draft Harris with pick No. 18, if they do decide to select a running back. Pairing him up with good friend, and former teammate, Tua Tagovailoa could make for a special Miami offense.

This swap includes Harris’ counterpart frome Clemson, Travis Etienne, but it’s still cool to see that Harris could start his career in aqua and orange.

Next … Another AFC East franchise

With the 2020 NFL Draft quickly approaching, football fans just can’t wait to see where their favorite college players will start their professional careers.

Some fans and graphic designers have taken it to the next level by giving the public a glimpse as to what the players may look like in NFL uniforms.

These ‘jersey swaps’ have taken over social media and have certainly gotten many fanbases excited about seeing their desired player wearing their team’s colors.

Let’s take a look at what social media wants the 2020 Alabama draft class to look like by the time the NFL season rolls around.

Henry Ruggs:

Could Ruggs be making his ay to Denver to play with former Mizzou quarterback, and fellow SEC alum, Drew Lock?

This jersey swap shows Ruggs playing on the Las Vegas Raiders and joining another former Crimson Tide star, Josh Jacobs.

The speedster makes his way to Philly in this scenario!
