Notre Dame trying to flip to 2025 Arizona receiver commit

Will the Irish succeed here?

Notre Dame currently has two receiver commits for its 2025 recruiting class: [autotag]Jerome Bettis Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Elijah Burress[/autotag]. One more would round that group out, and the Irish are going after someone who’s already committed.

Three-star Florida receiver Isaiah Mizell from Boone in Orlando committed to Arizona on July 10. However, the Irish apparently have reason to believe that he’s not completely sold on the Wildcats. Whatever that might be, they have extended an offer to him, so it’s now up to him on whether he wants the ditch the desert for South Bend.

Mizell took to social media upon receiving the offer and said this:

https://twitter.com/IsaiahMizell/status/1833551970105282943

And if that wasn’t enough, 2026 quarterback commit [autotag]Noah Grubbs[/autotag] responded to the post with the eyes emoji. One has to wonder how much of a role he might be playing in this.

While Mizell might not be the most sought-after 2025 receiver, the Irish clearly see some value in him. Let’s hope he appreciates that enough to want to go to them.

Notre Dame Recruits Post Epic Steelers Legacy Photo

Steelers legacies pose with fathers on latest official Notre Dame visits.

Notre Dame’s recent run of landing recruiting commitments from the sons of former NFL players has been impressive.  The sons of several former NFL stars have chosen to wear blue and gold in recent years from the likes of Kennedy Urlacher (Brian), Bryant Young, Jr., James Flanagan (Jim), and several others.

There are three players currently committed in the 2025 recruiting class that don’t only each have fathers that played in the NFL, but fathers that specifically starred for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Those three posed together over the weekend, along with their fathers for a truly epic photo of the old guard and new.

[autotag]Elijah Burress[/autotag] posted the photo as he sits on the left side, in front of his dad Plaxico.  [autotag]Ivan Taylor[/autotag], Notre Dame‘s top-ranked recruit currently in the 2025 class sits in front of his dad Ike Taylor.  And on the right side is of course [autotag]Jerome Bettis, Jr[/autotag]. seated in front of his Pro Football Hall of Fame father, Jerome, Sr.

Happy Father’s Day, in blue and gold or black and yellow, indeed.

Ohio 2025 wide receiver decommits from Notre Dame football

Good and bad news on the trail for the Irish on Saturday

It wasn’t all good news for Notre Dame football on the recruiting trail Saturday.

Yes, getting a commitment from 2026 quarterback Noah Grubbs is huge, but he won’t be able to sign for over a year from now. Ohio wide receiver [autotag]Shaun Terry[/autotag] was set to sign this winter, but had a change of heart and decommitted from the program.

The Irish recently offered in-state wide receiver JonAnthony Hall while they await the final decision from Derek Meadows as well. There are still two commits in the 2025 class, with [autotag]Jerome Bettis Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Elijah Burress[/autotag].

With so much current movement recruiting receivers, its hard to say how this all shakes out for Notre Dame.

What we do know is that the Notre Dame coaching staff has a great handle on what is going on with its recruits and have shown that they can easily find replacements if needed.

See it: Notre Dame Recruiting Commitments Make You Feel Old

From Super Bowl fathers to Notre Dame?

It was two decades ago now that Jerome Bettis and Plaxico Burress were key cogs on the Pittsburgh Steelers offense.  Both would go on to win Super Bowls when they were no longer teammates and both had kids of their own now.

Or I should say, both have kids that are being recruited to play football at Notre Dame now.

Jerome Bettis, Jr., and Elijah Burress are both recruits in the 2025 cycle and are yet to announce commitments to any program.  Both were on Notre Dame’s campus last weekend and seemed to have enjoyed their time.  They even posed for a staged photo together, one Burress posted to social media with a nod to both of their fathers.

No word yet on when either plans to announce their college plans but Notre Dame is clearly a player for both.  The Irish currently have the top-ranked 2025 recruiting class by multiple outlets.

Jerome Bettis Jr. commits to Notre Dame

Like father, like son: The Woodward Academy (Ga.) receiver is headed to the Fighting Irish.

Talk about the luck of the Irish for Marcus Freeman, the Notre Dame football head coach as the Fighting Irish got a Sunday commitment from Jerome Bettis Jr. on Sunday.

From Woodward Academy (Atlanta, Georgia), Bettis is a three-star wide receiver. He also held offers from Arkansas, Cal, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Missouri, NC State, Ole Miss, Purdue and Texas A&M among others.

Last year, he had 30 catches for 369 yards and four receiving touchdowns. At 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, he is ranked the No. 83 wide receiver in the nation by 247Sports.

Fitting that the Fighting Irish landed a legacy player on St. Patrick’s Day. He is the son of former Notre Dame standout and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis.

The commitment was broken on Sunday morning by On3 and later re-tweeted by the three-star athlete:

Jerome Bettis, the father, is one of the best athletes ever to play at Notre Dame. During his time in South Bend, he set the Notre Dame single-season touchdown record before becoming a first-round pick in the 1993 NFL draft.

Notre Dame football gets a commitment from 2025 legacy wide receiver

The legacy continues in South Bend for the Bettis family

Notre Dame football has been no stranger to getting commitments from former NFL players prospects and also former Irish legends.

On Sunday, both happened, as [autotag]Jerome Bettis Jr.[/autotag], the son of “The Bus” committed to Notre Dame. The younger Bettis was clearly introduced to the game by his father, but ultimately forged his own path as a wide receiver. At 6-foot, 2-inches and 190-pounds, Jr. fits the mold.

He isn’t extremely highly ranked, as Bettis Jr. is the No. 671 overall prospect and 113th rated receiver recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Irish 2025 class now has 18 total commitments, and now three receivers.

Bettis Jr. is the second legacy commit of the receiver group, joining Elijah Burress, son of Michigan State star Plaxico Burress.

A third crystal ball pick goes in for Notre Dame to land a 2025 legacy recruit

The Irish are trending in the right way for “Bus” Jr.

Notre Dame football was already trending to add 2025 wide receiver [autotag]Jerome Bettis Jr.[/autotag], but the momentum is gaining for the Irish to add the legacy recruit.

We all know his father, “The Bus” was a fixture of the Irish offense during the 1991 and 1992 seasons, setting record 23 total touchdowns during his sophomore year. His son doesn’t play the same position, but at 6-foot, 1-inch and 190-pounds, Jr. is a very solid receiver prospect.

Bettis Jr. is ranked as the No. 88 player at his position and 575th overall according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, and recently Anna Adams has joined Steve Wiltfong and Tom Loy in crystal ball projecting him to play where his father did, in South Bend.

Notre Dame has dominated recruiting former Irish players and former NFL stars sons. It looks like that will continue with Bettis Jr.

Jerome Bettis, Jr. headed back to Notre Dame

Come on through!

The son of one of the best and most famous players to wear blue and gold at Notre Dame is going to visit the campus again soon. Jerome Bettis, Jr., who is entering his junior year at Woodward Academy in Georgia, will be at Notre Dame’s cookout day on July 30 according to Irish Breakdown.

“I’ve said it before but the main thing I love about Notre Dame is their emphasis on recruiting me,” Bettis Jr. told Irish Breakdown in the past. “They recognize that I still have other schools pursuing me, and that they still need to recruit me the same way they would anyone else. Them letting me know that they want me for me is something that really stood out to me.”

Bettis is a different player than his old man. The younger Bettis is a wide receiver and stands 6 feet, 2 inches. He holds offers from Notre Dame, Boston College, Arkansas, UConn and UMass and has taken visits to other programs as well.

Notre Dame has two commitments in the 2025 recruiting class: tight end [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag] and defensive lineman [autotag]Davion Dixon[/autotag].

LOOK: NFL legacy Jerome Bettis Jr. visits Alabama on Junior Day

Alabama hosts NFL legacy Jerome Bettis Jr. during Junior Day!

Over the weekend Alabama hosted its annual Junior Day on campus as recruits from the class of 2025 flocked to Tuscaloosa.

One such visitor was the son of an NFL legend and Hall of Fame member.

According to multiple reports, Jerome Bettis Jr., the son of the former Pittsburgh Steeler was on campus in Tuscaloosa.

Currently, the Atlanta native is not ranked by any of the major recruiting services but the fact that he making trips to places like Alabama is a good sign for the future.

Instead of being a punishing running back like his father, Bettis Jr. is a wide receiver that stands at 6’2″ and 175 pounds.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama’s involvement in Bettis Jr.’s recruitment throughout the process.
