Five proposed free agent injury replacements for Boston Celtics veteran forward Danilo Gallinari

The injury, sustained in FIBA World Cup qualifier play, will likely keep Gallinari out of action through at least the end of the 2022-23 regular season, and perhaps beyond it..

The Boston Celtics find themselves looking for a way to fill at least some of the minutes that will be vacated by veteran forward Danilo Gallinari after news broke of the Italian swingman’s ACL injury. That injury, sustained in FIBA World Cup qualifier play, will likely keep Gallinari out of action through at least the end of the 2022-23 regular season, and perhaps beyond it.

Early reporting has suggested that the team is in no hurry to replace Gallo with Boston reportedly planning to get a good look at the prospects they already have on the roster, but a strict adherence to such a plan might well see any potential free agents of note find homes elsewhere.

The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn recently highlighted five potential signees the Celtics could consider bringing on in the wake of Gallinari’s injury; let’s dive into the prospective replacements.

3 free agent wing players still available who make sense Sixers

Here are 3 wing players in free agency who are still available and make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire.

The Philadelphia 76ers are just about done with their offseason moves after agreeing to a 2-year deal with James Harden to keep him in the City of Brotherly Love, but there are still some free agents available that would help their bench unit.

At the moment the Sixers have a full roster. So in order to make another addition, they would have to make a corresponding move to free up a roster spot for that player, but there are some options for them out there.

The Sixers can still look for a minimum bargain this late in the game in order to add another bench player and there are three players who stick out at the wing spots that make sense.

NBA rumors: Lakers among teams interested in trading for Pacers’ Jeremy Lamb

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly a team interested in trading for Indiana Pacers guard Jeremy Lamb.

After finishing outside the playoffs in the Eastern Conference last season, the Indiana Pacers are looking to make moves for an improved 2021-22 campaign.

The Domantas Sabonis-Myles Turner pairing in the frontcourt is still alive, though complicated, while T.J. Warren looks to join Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert in the starting lineup.

On the bench, the Pacers have some solid veterans across the board but some might not be enough to move the needle in the right direction and crowd the depth chart.

One such player is Jeremy Lamb, one of the backup wings on the roster. Lamb, 29, is still a strong 3-point shooter, but with LeVert’s recent entry and lottery pick Chris Duarte entering the fold, Lamb has become expendable in the backcourt.

Indiana has seemingly begun shopping him around, and according to J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star, the Los Angeles Lakers are among the interested teams:

“According to league sources, about four teams have expressed interest in dealing for Lamb, including the L.A. Lakers and Charlotte Hornets.”

Lamb, who shot a career-high 40.6 percent from deep last season after returning from an ACL tear, could definitely play a role as a catch-and-shoot threat alongside LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis.

The issue, though, is matching salaries. Lamb is on a contract worth $10.5 million a year. The only Laker in that range is Talen Horton-Tucker after he re-signed on a three-year deal.

Given Los Angeles’ reluctance to part ways with Horton-Tucker for players like Kyle Lowry near the trade deadline last season, it seems unreasonable for them to move the promising 20-year-old booming with potential for a less dynamic threat than that of Lowry.

New trade suggestion has Sixers moving star Ben Simmons to Pacers

A new trade suggestion has the Philadelphia 76ers sending Ben Simmons to the Indiana Pacers.

As the Philadelphia 76ers pick up the pieces following their second-round playoff exit, they have limited options to improve the roster: the draft and the trade market.

The biggest asset Philadelphia possesses is 24-year-old All-Star Ben Simmons, who could probably use a change of scenery at this stage of his career. He has failed to put together his size and skills to dominate the game as he should. And unless he can make offensive improvements under coach Doc Rivers’ guidance, it might be better for both Simmons and the Sixers to divorce.

A new trade suggestion from Bleacher Report has Philadelphia sending Simmons to the Indiana Pacers for Malcolm Brogdon and Jeremy Lamb. B/R on why the Sixers would do it:

Following his disastrous showing against the Atlanta Hawks, Simmons’ days in Philly should be numbered. The Sixers just can’t go through another playoff run with him, especially with Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris playing some of the best basketball of their careers.

Brogdon, 28, fits the timeline in Philadelphia perfectly. He averaged 21.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists and hit 38.8 percent of his 3-pointers for the Pacers this season. Brogdon is also one of the NBA’s best free-throw shooters, leading the league in 2018-19 (92.8 percent) and would rank 12th in basketball history (88.7 percent) if he had enough attempts to qualify.

Lamb, 29, helps match up salaries but would be a useful rotation piece in Philly. He put up 10.1 points on 40.6 percent shooting from 3 this season.

While the Pacers could make things work with Simmons, Domantas Sabonis, and Caris LeVert and the fit of Brogdon and Lamb would be nice next to Embiid, the Sixers could do better than this package. Philadelphia should do more monitoring of the Damian Lillard situation in Portland before looking at other options.

Jeremy Lamb channels Kobe Bryant, sinks two free throws after suffering knee injury

Lamb is out for the rest of the season.

Back in 2013, Kobe Bryant ruptured his Achilles tendon against the Golden State Warriors. But he stayed in the game to shoot two free throws before he was removed. He made them both and the Lakers ended up with a victory.

On Sunday, Indiana Pacers guard Jeremy Lamb hurt his knee after a foul, and he channeled Bryant — although we don’t know if the vet was inspired by the late Lakers great in the moment — and made both of his shots from the line before being removed.

It turns out Lamb tore his ACL, fractured his knee and has a torn meniscus, which means he’ll be out for the season. That makes this moment even more incredible:

It’s awful news for both Lamb and the Pacers. He was their fourth-leading scorer and a big part of the Pacers’ deep rotation.

Kyrie Irving out for matchup against Pacers

Spencer Dinwiddie will have to fill in for Kyrie Irving again. Brooklyn’s point guard is still dealing with a right shoulder impingement.

Kyrie Irving will be sidelined again for the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. He is still dealing with a right shoulder impingement.

The issue first arose before Brooklyn faced the Denver Nuggets on Friday and kept Irving out of Saturday’s win over the Chicago Bulls — in which Spencer Dinwiddie started at point guard.

While Irving was out, Dinwiddie led the Nets with 24 points in the 117-111 finish, closing out the five-game road trip with a win. Joe Harris also had his highest-scoring game of the season, finishing with 22 points against the Bulls.

The Indiana Pacers will also be without their top-two players on Monday. Malcolm Brogdon is out with a sore back and Victor Oladipo is still rehabbing from his knee surgery.

Additionally, the Pacers will be without Jeremy Lamb due to an ankle sprain and T.J. McConnell is sidelined, as well, due to a sore groin.
