Where the Philadelphia Eagles landed in a ranking of NFL ticket price increases over the past 15 years

With new or renovated stadiums popping up all across the NFL over the past decade or two, it shouldn’t be a shock that fans are hit the hardest by increased ticket prices.

Star quarterbacks run the league and as ownership groups get more creative with increasing their overall revenue, raising the ticket prices has always been the simplest form of adding profits to the yearly margins.

The Action Network recently looked at ticket price increases over the past 15 years from all 32 NFL teams, and the Eagles landed just outside the top 10, at No. 12 overall.

Since the 2006 season, Philadelphia’s ticket prices have increased from $69 dollars to $127.06, an 84% markup, putting the Eagles in the middle of the pack.

The Raiders, Seahawks, Packers, 49ers, and Texans were the top 5 teams in ticket price increases, while the Jets, Chargers, Bengals, Commanders, and Patriots have the lowest percentage of increase across the league.

Jeffrey Lurie’s son Julian named to role of Eagles Business and Football Operations Strategy

Jeffrey Lurie’s son Julian was named to the role of the Philadelphia Eagles Business and Football Operations Strategy, where he’ll be involved in both the football operations and business sides of the organization

The Eagles have a familiar name assuming a prominent role in the front office, as Julian Lurie, the son of team owner Jeffrey Lurie, has finally landed at the NovaCare Complex.

According to Bo Wolf of The Athletic, the 26-year-old Lurie will assume the role of Eagles Business and Football Operations Strategy, dabbling in both the football and business side the organization.

Lurie has already delved into the football side of operations, as he was among four high-ranking Eagles representatives on-site at the 2022 Senior Bowl a few months back.

A Harvard grad who enjoys the analytical parts of the game also, the younger Lurie will be a someone to watch over the next 5-10 years as his influence over the organization continues to grow.

Eagles to hire former Steelers executive Brandon Hunt to a front office role

Philadelphia Eagles to hire former Pittsburgh Steelers executive Brandon Hunt to a front office role

The Eagles are set to add another talented staffer to the front office, as Geoff Mosher is reporting that Brandon Hunt is leaving the Steelers to join Howie Roseman’s staff.

Hunt is a homegrown talent for the Steelers and a Pittsburgh native who attended IUP and had been learning on the job under Kevin Colbert for almost 15-years.

Hunt officially joined Pittsburgh’s scouting department in 2010, before being named the pro scouting coordinator for Houston after Doug Whaley was hired as the general manager of the Buffalo Bills.

The move is essentially a trade of front office personnel, with Andy Weidl heading to the Steelers as the assistant GM to Omar Khan.

Eagles looking to make drafting players from Alabama a priority?

It appears the Philadelphia Eagles have figured out that Nick Saban churns out NFL-ready athletes and the organization is now looking to make drafting players from Alabama a priority

Up until the team drafted quarterback Jalen Hurts, the fifth round of the 2002 NFL draft (Freddie Milons) was the last time the Eagles had selected a player with ties to the University of Alabama.

The Crimson Tide went through some down times at head coach (Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, Mike Shula, Joe Kines) post-Gene Stallings, but things changed after Nick Saban left the Miami Dolphins for Tuscaloosa back in 2007.

During the 18 NFL drafts that Philadelphia participated in from the Milons pick until the team drafted Hurts and then Landon Dickerson two years apart, 117 Alabama players were taken in the draft.

During that time the Ravens and Patriots selected the most guys from Tuscaloosa, while the Eagles (0) and Steelers were the least interested in Alabama prospects.

Now after drafting DeVonta Smith, and Landon Dickerson, and signing free agents Josh Jobe and Jared Maybin, Philadelphia has four players from Alabama on the roster, with the owner looking for more.

During a recent sitdown with ‘Sports Take’ with Derrick Gunn, Joe Castro, and former Eagle Barrett Brooks, Roseman admitted that owner Jeffrey Lurie wanted to know why it took so long to add players from the Crimson Tide.

The 2023 NFL draft class features at least six Alabama players that project to be first-round picks, and four more who could be selected on day two or three, and with the Eagles holding two more first-round picks for next spring, there’s a high likelihood of another Saban product heading to Philadelphia.

Eagles part ways with three staffers from the scouting department amid front-office restructure

Philadelphia Eagles part ways with three staffers from the scouting department in a front-office restructure that started with Casey Weidl

As the Eagles make moves to restructure their front office amid a shakeup, Geoff Mosher and Jeff McLane are reporting that three more staffers from the scouting department have been relieved of their duties.

According to reports, T.J. McCreight (player personnel executive/scout), Shawn Heinlen (southwest area scout), and Evan Pritt (scouting assistant) are no longer with the organization.

The moves follow Philadelphia reportedly parting ways with Casey Weidl, the team’s director of scouting operations, and the brother of Andy Weidl, the VP of Player Personnel according to Jeff McLane of The Inquirer.

Andy Weidl is currently a finalist for the Steelers’ general manager opening, while Casey has been with the Eagles since 2016.

Several teams around the league have restructured their scouting departments post-draft, and this move comes on the heels of Philadelphia losing three significant front office members (Brandon Brown, Ian CunninghamCatherine Raiche) to the Giants, Bears, and Browns and recent weeks.

Jeffrey Lurie on Eagles debuting black helmets in 2022, Kelly Green uniforms returning in 2023

Jeffrey #lurie announced that the #Philadelphia #Eagles will wear #Kellygreen jerseys (and helmets) in 2023, while also debuting black alternate helmets in 2022.

Last June the NFL approved a new rule that allowed teams to have one alternate color helmet to blend in with the new alternate jersey craze.

Because the Eagles initially submitted black as the color of choice for 2021 and 2022, they’ll have to wait another calendar to bring back the famous Kelly Green look.

On Tuesday, team owner Jeffrey Lurie confirmed that Philadelphia will debut a new black helmet in 2022, before debuting the new Nike Kelly Green uniforms in 2023.

The Eagles owner also had a lot to be say about how much he’s involved in draft decisions.

Lame Duck or Looking Long Term? Where Eagles GM Howie Roseman stands entering final-year of his contract

Lame Duck or Looking Long Term? #Philadelphia #Eagles GM Howie #Roseman is entering the final-year of his contract and we take a look at the pros and cons of his potential return in 2023 #NFL

Lost in the all the hype over NFL draft picks and potential free agent signings, is the quiet storm brewing with Howie Roseman’s contract.

The Eagles’ general manager is entering the final year of a contract extension that he signed along with Doug Pederson back in 2018.

Pederson is now the head coach in Jacksonville, Carson Wentz could be on his way out in Indianapolis, and Roseman could be a dissapointing offseason away from being out of a job.

With a ton of draft capital, and money to spend in free agency, some around the league believe Philadelphia should give Roseman a contract extension, eliminating his lame duck status, while ensuring that he doesn’t make a big splash for the sake of saving his job.

With the new league year less than three weeks away, here are a few pros and cons from the Eagles potentially keeping or parting ways with their longtime GM.
