The Cincinnati Bengals got Germaine Pratt back at linebacker this offseason but didn’t hesitate to add to the unit elsewhere.

One of those avenues was via undrafted free agency with Jaylen Moody,

Experience: Rookie (UDFA, 2023)

Age: 24

College:  Alabama

2022 PFF Grade: n/a

Numbers to Know: Last season, 49.0 tackles, 7.5 for a loss and two sacks.

Resume and Outlook: Moody has a fun skillset that should see him in the conversation for most of the summer. Much will hinge on his ability to show he can avoid being exploited in the passing game, which means preseason reps will be huge for him. He’s got a long battle ahead of him with the likes of Keandre Jones and Markus Bailey, though it’s not impossible — coming up in that Alabama system might just give him an edge. Even if he doesn’t make the 53, he could be a valuable guy for the team to keep around for the long-term.

Bengals to sign UDFA Alabama LB Jaylen Moody

The Bengals add to the LB unit via undrafted free agency.

The Cincinnati Bengals will dip back into the Alabama Crimson Tide pool via undrafted free agency and linebacker Jaylen Moody.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bengals will sign Moody, reuniting him with third-round pick Jordan Battle.

Moody, a late draft visit with the Bengals before the event, is 6’2″ and 225 pounds and recorded 50 tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery last season.

BamaCentral’s Christopher Walsh wrote the following:

Moody was a little hit-or-miss as he finished seventh on the team in tackles with 49.0, including 7.5 for a loss and two sacks. At Texas, he led the Crimson Tide in tackles with 10, and had a sack. Against Arkansas he had eight tackles including two for a loss and one sack. At LSU he was credited with nine tackles, including 2.5 for a loss. That might be enough to get him into a training camp, but probably not drafted.

Moody will get a chance to make the final roster over the summer as he competes with others on the back end of the depth chart. Familiarity with one of the team’s most important draft picks won’t hurt.

Former Alabama linebacker Jaylen Moody was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.

Moody spent five seasons at Alabama. As a fifth-year senior, Moody started in 10 games at WILL linebacker for the Crimson Tide while battling a lingering injury. He recorded 49 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks last season.

While Moody was not invited to participate in the NFL Draft ScoutingCombine, he did have an individual workout with the Bengals.

He will reunite with former Alabama teammate, Jordan Battle. Battle was drafted No. 95 overall by the Bengals on Friday night.

Moody had to earn his role on Alabama’s defense, so it will be interesting to see if he makes the roster heading into the fall.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama football program and its players competing at the professional level.

Alabama Football injury report heading into Week 7 vs. Tennessee Volunteers

The latest injury report for Alabama Football heading into Week 7 matchup with Tennessee.

Alabama fans, coaches, and players are all hopeful that quarterback Bryce Young will be able to return this week for the important matchup against Tennessee. This past weekend he was replaced by sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe, who played well enough for Alabama to walk away with a win, but not strong enough for fans to be content with him starting against the Vols.

The offense showed some room for improvement but still did enough to help the Crimson Tide come away with the Week 6 win. The defense played well without starting linebacker Jaylen Moody and starting defensive end Justin Eboigbe. Players like Deontae Lawson and Jamil Burroughs played well this past weekend as their replacements.

Today, Roll Tide Wire will provide you with the latest injury update ahead of Alabama’s Week 7 matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers.

BREAKING: LB Jaylen Moody expected to be out vs. Texas A&M

Alabama Linebacker Jaylen Moody is expected to be out for the Crimson Tide against Texas A&M.

To the surprise of all Crimson Tide fans, [autotag]Jaylen Moody[/autotag] is not dressed ahead of their game against the Texas A&M Aggies. Moody has been a solid starter for the Tide defense all year. In replace of Moody, Deontae Lawson will start as the weak-side linebacker.

The Texas A&M offense has struggled to start the year, but losing a reliable starter is never easy. Fortunately, as Coach Saban always says, next man up. Lawson will have a chance to show Tide fans what the future has to offer.

The Tide enter the match-up as massive 24.5-point favorites, but the Aggies remain a very talented team.

Behind Enemy Lines: Previewing Saturday’s Alabama-Texas game with Roll Tide Wire

Stacey Blackwood of Roll Tide Wire previews Saturday’s game.

The Texas Longhorns face the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide this Saturday. At the very least, it will draw a large television audience.

Undoubtedly, many will tune in with hopes that Alabama win the game by technical knockout. Others will watch, curious how much Texas has improved with Quinn Ewers and a retooled offensive line.

We have examined different angles of the game, but Longhorns Wire recently spoke with Stacey Blackwood of Roll Tide Wire to hear his perspective.

Blackwood provided insightful thoughts on how he sees the game unfolding. We see the game playing out in a similar fashion, but he goes in depth on his expectations for the two teams.

Let’s look at what he had to say about Saturday’s big game.

Moody, To’oTo’o named to Butkus Award Watch List

Two Tide linebackers named to Butkus Award watch list!

It is no question that the Crimson Tide will have one of the best linebacking duos in college football this season between Jaylen Moody and Henry To’oTo’o. The two were recently placed on the Butkus Award watch list for the most outstanding linebacker in the country.

To’oTo’o was the leading tackler for the Tide in 2021 and will be entering his fourth season as a starter in the SEC, and the second in Tuscaloosa. This will be Moody’s first season as a full-time starter for Nick Saban.

These two combined with a ferocious defensive line are going to make for one of the scariest front sevens in all of football.
