2025 four-star lineman chooses Kentucky over Auburn

The 6-5 interior lineman chose his home-state squad over Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and many other high profile programs.

The number one prospect from the state of Kentucky chose to stay home on Tuesday, as four-star standout defensive lineman prospect[autotag]Javeon Campbell[/autotag] announced he would be playing for the Kentucky Wildcats.

The 6-5 interior lineman chose his home-state squad over Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and many other high profile programs in the SEC and beyond.

The No. 14 overall defensive lineman prospect in the nation, Campbell will surely boost up a Kentucky recruiting class already widely considered to be in the top 25 in the country. Head coach Mark Stoops and his staff reportedly plan to use the 260 pound Campbell in the interior of the defense, with the plan of “letting [him] do his thing”, according to Campbell.

After visiting Lexington 10 times during the recruitment process, it was going to be an uphill battle for teams outside of the Bluegrass State to swing its top football prospect away from home. Despite the best efforts of Hugh Freeze and the Auburn staff, Campbell chose to stay home to represent the Blue and White.

As he put it, “the place, location, everything. Close to home. That’s what sold it to me.”

Kentucky secures big commitment from four-star EDGE Javeon Campbell

Four-star recruit Javeon Campbell committed to the Wildcats Tuesday.

Kentucky and Mark Stoops secured a commitment from the top-rated recruit in the Bluegrass State Tuesday when defensive end Javeon Campbell announced his intention to play for the Wildcats.

Campbell, a native of Frankfort, Ky., who plays for Western Hills High School, chose to remain in state over offers from Alabama, Auburn and Miami. He announced his commitment in a live-stream video on 247Sports’ YouTube channel with host Allen Trieu.

A four-star recruit, Campbell is ranked the No. 14 defensive lineman in the nation by On3. 247Sports lists him as the 109th overall recruit in the nation.

At 6-foot-5, 265 pounds, Campbell is the 15th member of Kentucky’s 2025 recruiting class. A gifted basketball player, Campbell did not play football until his junior year at Western Hills when he had 14.5 sacks.

Trieu, a recruiting analyst for 247Sports, wrote of Campbell:

Junior year was first of playing high school football but adjusted quickly and was frequently making plays in the backfield. Basketball background shows up in his athleticism and movement. Has good quickness off the snap and closing speed, especially at his size. Has the frame to still grow further. Could ultimately line up almost anywhere along the defensive line and in a variety of schemes and fronts. Currently is more of an edge-rusher, but could kick inside at times and play end in an odd front also. Physical for how new he is to the game. Still has work to do technically and with his hands, but he should continue to pick up the nuances of the position and all the physical tools are there.

Campbell is one of four four-star recruits to announce a verbal pledge to Kentucky from the class of 2025. He joins defensive back Martels Carter Jr. (Paducah Tilghman High School, Ky.), wide receiver Quintin Simmons Jr. (Withrow High School, Cincinnati), and EDGE Cedric Works (Northmont High School, Clayton, Ohio).

Kentucky football lands another four star recruit for 2025

Four-star 2025 edge rusher Javeon Campbell commits to Kentucky football.

Over the past few weeks, Kentucky football has landed some key four-star recruits, including top 100 edge rusher Cedric Works. They have been putting together a top 25 class, and on Tuesday, it got even stronger with the addition of Javeon Campbell.

Campbell was the state of Kentucky’s top recruit, ranked as the 109th overall player in the 2025 class by 247sports. He is their 15th ranked defensive lineman.

The 6’5″, 265 lb Campbell was being courted by some of college football’s power programs in addition to Kentucky. He had scholarship offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, LSU, and several others, but chose to stay at home with the Wildcats.

Kentucky has added some quality recruits for the 2025 class, including multiple four star players on defense. Campbell joins Works, and Martels Carter already, and they’re hoping to add cornerback Dawayne Galloway to the list as well.

Mark Stoops and his staff should be applauded for the work they’ve done so far, and fans hope for even more to come.

A Kentucky football 2025 recruiting target is set to make a decision

Kentucky football recruiting target Javeon Campbell is set to announce his decision.

Back in early May, recruiting services put in a prediction that 2025 edge rusher Javeon Campbell would pick Kentucky football. Now, two months later, he’s set to make an official decision, and Big Blue Nation is hopeful the prediction comes true.

Campbell is a four star recruit according to 247sports, and is ranked just outside the top 100 recruits overall. He’s their number 15 defensive lineman, and top player from the state of Kentucky.

Just a few days ago, the Wildcats landed another four star edge rusher in Cedric Works. Adding Campbell would give them a very talented pair of pass rushers for the future. It would also give Kentucky another highly ranked recruit, when they historically don’t get a lot of them.

If the Cats add a Campbell commitment, it will be over some very good programs. His other three final schools are Miami, Alabama, and Auburn.

Campbell will make his announcement on July 2nd at 11:30 AM. Fans can watch the decision on the 247sports YouTube page.

Can Auburn pull off the flip of five-star DL Isaiah Gibson?

Gibson is a USC pledge, but Auburn is the “top school” to watch out for when it matters most.

Auburn football is no stranger to taking away commits from Power programs. Currently, USC is [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag]’s top target for poaching talent.

Auburn will welcome two Trojan pledges to campus this weekend for official visits: five-star QB [autotag]Julian Lewis[/autotag] and three-star RB [autotag]Daune Morris[/autotag]. Lewis and Morris will be the second and third USC commits to officially visit Auburn this week, joining five-star DL [autotag]Isaiah Gibson[/autotag], who wrapped up his trip on Wednesday.

Gibson joined four-star EDGE’s [autotag]Zion Grady[/autotag] and [autotag]Javeon Campbell[/autotag] by taking their official visits beginning Monday and departed with plenty to think about. Gibson, who visited Auburn with his mother, said that Freeze made the visit about football and family, which “meant a lot” to him.

In a recent interview with Auburn Undercover, Gibson says that he does not plan on changing his tune with USC, but Auburn is a school that is showing up boldly on his radar.

“I would say is a top school,” Gibson said of Auburn. “A lot of schools are trying to get me to flip, I don’t see myself flipping no time soon but if I were to flip Auburn would be a top school.”

The possibility of flipping Gibson would be massive for Auburn. As it stands, Auburn holds commitments from two defensive linemen: four-star [autotag]Jourdin Crawford[/autotag] and [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag], who recently received his fifth star from 247Sports. Adding Gibson would bring stability to Auburn’s defensive front, and would mix well with [autotag]Jakaleb Faulk[/autotag], who is set to play EDGE for the Tigers as a member of the 2025 class.

Like so many others, Gibson could return to Auburn for Big Cat weekend in July. That weekend, plus a successful unofficial visit during the season, could make things interesting ahead of December’s signing day.

Pass rusher Javeon Campbell predicted to choose Kentucky football

Edge rusher Javeon Campbell is predicted by On3 recruiting to pick Kentucky football.

Wednesday is shaping up to be a good day for fans of Kentucky football and their recruiting. First, they got a commitment from a top 200 player in running back Marquise Davis. Now, they’re predicted to add edge rusher Javeon Campbell as well by on3 recruiting.

Campbell is ranked in the top 300 recruits for 2025, and rated four stars. He’s a 6’5″, 265 lb defensive end out of Frankfort, Kentucky. He’s the number two rated player in the state.

With athleticism that rivals anybody, Campbell has tons of upside. He just started playing high school football last season, and immediately made an impact. With further development, he could turn into a star.

If Kentucky does land Campbell, it adds to a recruiting class that is getting better and better. He is also being recruited by teams like Ohio State and the SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide.

He hasn’t officially committed to Kentucky yet, so things can change. However, getting a prediction for another very good player is something Big Blue Nation should be excited about.

Notre Dame makes fast-rising 2025 Kentucky defensive lineman’s top list

The Irish are still in it, but will need to make up some ground

Notre Dame football has done a great job recently of uncovering lower-ranked prospects and coaching them up to be contributors.

Offensive tackle Joe Alt is a perfect example of that, and 2025 Kentucky [autotag]Javeon Campbell[/autotag] could be next in line. The 6-foot, 5-inch and 265-pound defensive end is ranked as the No. 431 overall player and 48th at his position by the 247Sports Composite Rankings trimmed down his list on Monday.

The Irish made the cut, along with Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Ohio State, LSU, Kentucky and Georgia. It makes you wonder why Campbell is ranked so low with an offer list so impressive, so a re-ranking might happen in the future.

It does look like the Irish are playing catchup in Campbell’s recruitment however, as of the couple official visits he’s set up, none of them are to South Bend.
