Here’s a look at the Broncos’ depth chart ahead of Sunday’s game against the Ravens.

The Denver Broncos have set their depth chart ahead of a Week 9 showdown with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

NFL teams can elevate two players from the practice squad to the game-day roster each week. Denver called up linebacker Kwon Alexander and fullback Michael Burton this week. The Broncos also promoted offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton to the active roster this week.

Here’s a look at the Broncos’ depth chart ahead of Sunday’s game against the Ravens.

With potential roster changes possibly on deck later this week, the Denver Broncos have released their depth chart ahead of a Week 9 showdown with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Last week, the Broncos elevated linebacker Kwon Alexander and guard/center Calvin Throckmorton from the practice squad to the game-day roster. Throckmorton has now maxed out his elevations. Alexander can still be elevated one more time, so we left him on the depth chart below.

Here’s a look at the team’s depth chart going into the Ravens game.

8 players Broncos could trade away before NFL trade deadline

Should the Broncos consider trading any of these players before the NFL’s deadline?

The NFL trade deadline (Nov. 5) is less than a week away and with multiple trades already completed, there have been some rumblings that the Denver Broncos could get involved in the action.

We have been focused on several outside players the Broncos could bring in, but today we’re turning our attention to players that Denver could ship out.

We’ve put together a quick list of eight players the Broncos could entertain trading away before the deadline.

Of note, NFL Network has reported that teams could call about pass rusher Jonathon Cooper, but the Broncos seem very unlikely to trade him, so we did not include Cooper on our list.

Players Broncos could trade before deadline

1. RB Javonte Williams: He is the team’s best blocking back and Audric Estime has had some struggles with fumbles, so Denver might not be ready to move on from Williams just yet. He’s set to become a free agent next year, though, so the Broncos could perhaps send him to a team like the Cowboys in exchange for a draft pick.

2. OT Mike McGlinchey: His contract could complicate a potential trade, but McGlinchey has suddenly become expendable following the emergency of Alex Palczewski. Denver might prefer to make this kind of move during the offseason, though.

3. DL D.J. Jones: With Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers playing so well and Malcolm Roach rotating in, the Broncos might thinking about trading Jones before he hits free agency in 2025.

4. WR Courtland Sutton: He is Bo Nix’s favorite target, but Denver has received plenty of interest in Sutton over the last two seasons. We’ll see if teams call the Broncos about Sutton again before this year’s deadline.

5. CB Damarri Mathis: Pat Surtain, Riley Moss and Ja’Quan McMillian serve as the team’s top three cornerbacks with Levi Wallace providing depth behind them. Tremon Smith is a special teams ace and Kris Abrams-Draine is a fifth-round draft pick who isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. That could leave Mathis as the odd man out.

6. QB Zach Wilson: The Broncos have repeatedly said that they believe Wilson will become a starter again in the NFL. In order for that to happen, Wilson might need a fresh start somewhere else.

7. QB Jarrett Stidham: Denver obviously wouldn’t trade both Wilson and Stidham, but they could certainly move one of them. Broncos coach Sean Payton seemed to hint that week that at least one team has called about the availability of Denver’s backup quarterbacks.

8. OLB Baron Browning: He is probably the Broncos’ most realistic trade candidate this year. Nik Bonitto (6.0) and Cooper (5.5) lead the team in sacks this fall and youngsters Jonah Elliss (2.0) and Dondrea Tillman (2.0) have also made their mark as rotational pass rushers. Denver has a surplus of pass rushers and Browning is scheduled to hit free agency next spring.

8 players did not play in Broncos’ win vs. Panthers

Eight Broncos players did not play against the Panthers, including safety P.J. Locke (thumb).

Seven members of the 53-man roster did not play in the Denver Broncos‘ 28-14 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson*, safety P.J. Locke (thumb), offensive tackle Alex Palczewski (ankle), cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, tight end Greg Dulcich, outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman and defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike were inactive in Week 8.

*Wilson was inactive but still dressed as an emergency third quarterback.

Jarrett Stidham, Denver’s primary backup quarterback, also did not play as Bo Nix took every snap on offense. That gave the Broncos eight total players who did not see the field against the Panthers.

Here’s a look at the Broncos’ depth chart for Sunday’s game against the Panthers.

After making a few changes to the 53-man roster last week, the Denver Broncos have released their updated depth chart ahead of a Week 8 showdown with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Last week, the Broncos activated outside linebacker Baron Browning (foot), right tackle Mike McGlinchey (MCL) and cornerback Damarri Mathis (ankle) from injured reserve to the active roster.

Denver also cut running back Blake Watson from the active roster and later re-signed him to the practice squad last week.

This week, the team elevated linebacker Kwon Alexander and guard/center Calvin Throckmorton from the practice squad to the game-day roster.

Following those moves, here’s a look at the team’s updated depth chart going into the Panthers game.

Sean Payton comments on trade statuses of Broncos QBs Zach Wilson, Jarrett Stidham

“Right now, I like where we’re at with this group,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said when asked about the NFL’s trade deadline.

After Friday’s practice session, Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked about the possibility of moving one of the team’s backup quarterbacks — either Jarrett Stidham or Zach Wilson — ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline.

Payton’s answer seemed to imply that one team had already reached out, but the talks were very preliminary.

“George [Paton] would be the better one to ask, but we’ll get teasers,” Payton said. “You know, a team a couple weeks ago [says], ‘Hey.’ Not even (waves hand) — and then, you know. When there’s a call that is somewhat substantial, it’s still like the beginning process. ‘Hey, this is what we might [offer],’ and then — we’re two weeks away.

“George and I will talk about it each day, but we’re focused on this [game] right now. I understand [the questions about it], and yet, it’s pretty normal. There’s a group of teams shopping a certain list of players. Some teams are easier to do a deal with maybe than others, but right now, I like where we’re at with this group.”

The NFL’s trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 5. If Denver does make any trades, we will track all the moves on Broncos Wire.

7 players did not play in Broncos’ win vs. Saints

The Broncos held out seven players from Thursday’s game against the Saints, including CB Pat Surtain, who is recovering from a concussion.

Seven members of the 53-man roster did not play in the Denver Broncos‘ 33-10 win over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football.

Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson*, cornerback Pat Surtain (concussion), offensive tackle Alex Palczewski (ankle), cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman, defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike and tight end Greg Dulcich were inactive in Week 7.

Wilson was inactive but was still dressed as an emergency third quarterback.

Jarrett Stidham, Denver’s primary backup quarterback, made his 2024 debut when he entered the game late in the fourth quarter for kneel-downs. After Stidham entered the game, all of the Broncos’ active players had seen the field on TNF.

9 players did not play in Broncos’ game vs. Chargers

Nine Broncos players did not play on Sunday while Audric Estime and Devaughn Vele returned and Eyioma Uwazurike made his 2024 debut.

Nine members of the 53-man roster did not play in the Denver Broncos‘ 23-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson*, running back Blake Watson, cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, safety JL Skinner, defensive back Keidron Smith, offensive tackle Alex Palczewski (ankle) and tight end Greg Dulcich were inactive in Week 6.

Everyone except Palczewski was a healthy scratch. Despite being inactive, Wilson still dressed as the team’s emergency third-string quarterback on Sunday.

Bo Nix played every snap on offense, so primary backup Jarrett Stidham also did not play, and backup offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton was not called into action. That gave the Broncos nine total players who did not see the field against the Chargers.
