What 2021 Badger target James Graham would bring to Madison

A breakdown of one of the fastest rising players in 2021

It was not a matter of if Wisconsin was going to extend an offer to James Graham, one of the fastest rising players in the class of 2021. It was a matter of when, and that when came yesterday when the Badgers made it official with their offer, the latest in a long list for the Nicolet star.

Graham is a 6-8 SF with a versatile skill set. The Milwaukee native plays for one of the top Wisconsin club programs in the state in Wisconsin Playground, and has already had an impressive start to his summer circuit.

According to Movement Hoops, Graham averaged 21 points per contest and hit 47 threes for Nicolet as a junior en route to a 22-3 overall record.

Graham has risen all the way up to No. 57 in the 247Sports 2021 class rankings, and now holds offers rom Michigan State, Georgetown, Auburn, Georgia, Memphis, Iowa and more.

The 6-8, athletic forward has a sweet stroke from the outside that forces defenses to step out and respect him. Either as a catch-and-shoot threat, or getting in his bag off the dribble, Graham has excellent range and a high release point on his jumper. The Wisconsin PGC stud feels like the modern forward. He runs the floor with ease, can pull up from anywhere on the hardwood, and finishes with authority at the rim. The Nicolet star also showed flashes of his passing ability out a face-up or post-up during his junior year.

His handles still have room to improve, but in his junior year he showed the ability to create for himself with high-level footwork either with his back to the basket or on the perimeter. The next step for Graham, as is the next step for many high school juniors, is adding strength in the weight room in order to be able to grind at the next level.

It’s no secret as to why Graham is one of the fastest rising players in the nation right now. The do-it-all small forward will fit in with ease wherever he decides to go, and with his 6-8, athletic frame and deep range, the NBA could be calling his name a few years down the line.

The past two weeks have been one of the best stretches of Michigan State Basketball head coach Tom Izzo’s career in terms of recruiting. In less than two weeks, Izzo received commitments from 5-star Emoni Bates and another 5-star in Max Christie. Now, he looks to be close to adding a 4-star to an already impressive recruiting run. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, MSU is expected to virtually meet with 4-star power forward James Graham III sometime next week.

The Spartans already offered Graham about a month ago, so this meeting could be substantial as Izzo looks to round out his 2021 recruiting class. According to Weingarten, Graham will also meet with Archie Miller of Indiana.

Graham is 247Sports‘ No. 10 ranked small forward in the 2021 class and the No. 56 ranked player overall. He currently plays for Nicolet High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

It’s still unclear if Emoni Bates will be a 2021 or 2022 recruit, but a class of Max Christie, Pierre Brooks, and James Graham, even without Bates, is an incredible recruiting win for Izzo.

According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Graham has “garnered interest” from Michigan State basketball. Note, Stockrisers refers to Graham as a 4-star player.

Graham hails from Milwaukee, WI, where he plays for Nicolet High School. The 6’8″ and 205 pound Forward has received a flurry of offers just in the past week from Georgia and Cincinnati. He also has offers from Big Ten teams such as Maryland, Rutgers, and Iowa.

MSU has not yet officially made an offer and will likely set up a virtual visit first. The Spartans have already landed the commitment of the No. 1 player in Michigan, 4-star Guard Pierre Brooks. Graham would be an excellent addition to Brooks in the 2021 recruiting class.

Georgia Tech QB in postgame interview: ‘THWG’

Georgia Tech QB James Graham kicked off the trash talk with UGA football.

Quarterback James Graham and Georgia Tech (3-8) took down NC State (4-7) Thursday night in Atlanta.

For the Yellow Jackets, you’d think they had just won the College Football Playoff after seeing the reactions from the players and fans on social media and in Bobby Dodd Stadium.

But in reality, the Jackets beat a Wolfpack team that came into the game with a 4-6 record.

Next week, Clean Old-Fashioned Hate is resumed for the 114th time when Georgia travels to Atlanta to play Tech.

Despite its 3-8 record, Tech is sounding awfully confident with the Bulldogs looming on the schedule.

Following a 28-26 win over NC State, Tech quarterback James Graham, who did in-fact have a nice game on Thursday, kicked off the trash talk between the Dawgs and Jackets in a postgame interview with FOX5’s Cody Chaffins.

“I’m ready for next week,” Graham said. “We’re going to show the world what’s up and hopefully we’ll get a win next week too.”

When asked what next week is going to mean to him, Graham said:

“THWG. To hell with Georgia.”
