Alabama receives three crystal balls for 2023 4-star QB Dylan Lonergan

Alabama has received three crystal balls in their favor to land 2023 four-star quarterback Dylan Lonergan.

Alabama already has one signal-caller committed in the 2023 recruiting class in Eli Holstein. It appears that another quarterback in the class could be headed to Tuscaloosa as well. That quarterback is Georgia native and two-sport athlete Dylan Lonergan.

Three experts put in crystal ball predictions for him to commit to Alabama. Two other schools in the mix are Stanford and South Carolina, but all three programs will have to wait until July 12 for his decision.

Lonergan plays both football and baseball for Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. He is rated as a four-star prospect according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. Lonergan is listed at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. With a decision coming soon, 247Sports expert Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball prediction in favor of the Tide. Two other South Carolina insiders did the same.

If Alabama can land Lonergan, they will have one of the best quarterback classes in the country for 2023. The quarterback room could be composed of Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, Eli Holstein, and Dylan Lonergan. The coaching staff has been pushing to sign two quarterbacks and it looks like that could happen in the coming days.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Lonergan’s recruitment and other Alabama Football prospects.

Alabama has top QB room in the country according to CBS Sports

Bryce Young isn’t the only talented signal-caller in Tuscaloosa.

With the return of reigning Heisman Trophy winner [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag], it should come as no surprise that Alabama would be considered to have one of the top quarterback rooms in the country heading into the 2022 season.

According to Shehan Jeyarajah of CBS Sports, the Crimson Tide stand atop the list of college teams with the best quarterback room in the nation.

Besides returning Young, Alabama has a pair of highly touted quarterback prospects who are just waiting to burst onto the scene. Redshirt freshman [autotag]Jalen Milore[/autotag] showed Alabama fans, and the rest of the country for that matter, just how much potential he truly has during Alabama’s annual A-Day game in April.

True freshman [autotag]Ty Simpson[/autotag] is a five-star prospect who will likely become a household name within the next couple of years.

Jeyarajah had this to say about the trio of quarterbacks in Tuscaloosa.

“If you bring back the Heisman-winning quarterback and former top-100 recruits, it earns you a spot on the top of this list. Bryce Young was sensational in his first season as a starter, completing 66.9% of his passes for 4,872 yards passing and 47 touchdowns. He threw for more than 300 yards 10 times, including a 369-yard performance in the College Football Playoff National Championship and 421 yards and three scores in the SEC title game. The depth behind Young is green, but Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson were among the most pursued players in the nation. If Simpson and Milroe are good enough for Nick Saban, we trust them.”

There’s no denying that Nick Saban has a wealth of talent calling the shots for his offense for many years to come.

Despite the uncertainty with Arch Manning, Alabama’s future is bright at QB

Nick Saban hasn’t put all his eggs in the Arch Manning basket and Tide fans shouldn’t either.

Like a classic TV drama of “who did it” the recruitment of five-star quarterback Arch Manning has everyone guessing how it will end. Even some of the country’s top recruiting analysts are stumped on where the generational talent will take his talents.

At the moment, On3’s recruiting prediction machine has Manning with a 38.1% chance of landing at Texas followed by Georgia (32.5%) and Alabama (27.2%). While it seems likely Manning will choose from among those three schools, it would be premature to think Ole Miss doesn’t stand at least an outside shot.

Look, I know Manning is a superior talent and Nick Saban would obviously welcome him into Tuscaloosa with open arms. But in the event Manning doesn’t sign with the Tide, ‘Bama fans have no reason to worry. The future is still very bright for the Crimson Tide at the quarterback position.

Bryce Young will obviously carry the Tide during the 2022 season before he moves on to be one of the top picks in next year’s NFL draft. But Alabama fans also have to be excited about the future at the position with both Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson. Both were highly coveted prospects who can win a lot of games for Saban and the Tide.

It is also important to remember that Alabama isn’t putting all its eggs in the Arch Manning basket. Saban and the Alabama coaching staff have zeroed in on a fellow class of 2023 quarterback prospect, Eli Holsten. Like Manning, Holstein hails from the state of Louisiana.

At nearly 6 feet, 4 inches and 225 pounds, Holstein has the prototypical size that you look for in a quarterback. Holstein led his high school team to a 15-0 record and a Class 5A state championship during the 2021 season. Max Preps named Holstein the Louisiana Football Player of the Year.

It appears Alabama is in a strong position to land Holstein, and Tide fans should not consider this a consultation prize. Holstein is talented and Nick Saban and the coaching staff really like the kid. On3’s RPM heavily favors the Tide for Holstein’s commitment, giving Alabama an 81.3% chance of landing the Bayou QB.

Whether Alabama lands Manning or not, the Tide is in goods hands and the ‘Bama dynasty will continue as long as Saban is in charge.

Major takeaways from Alabama Football’s A-Day spring game

Major takeaways from Alabama Football’s A-Day spring game

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide football team concluded their spring activities with the annual A-Day game inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Tide battled the rainy weather as the White team defeated the Crimson team 25-7.

This spring game allowed for the public to see how the Crimson Tide football team currently looks, as fans and media members will have to wait until early September to see the final product hit the field against Utah State in the season-opening contest.

Some names were expectedly called often, while others seemingly appeared out of nowhere to steal the show.

Aside from a handful of plays, the defense dominated the day which didn’t come as too much of a surprise. Alabama returns a wealth of experienced talent on the defensive side of the ball, while the offense is trying to replace some of its offensive weapons from the 2021 season.

Let’s take a look at some of the major takeaways from Alabama’s A-Day game.

WATCH: Jalen Milroe finds Christian Leary for a 52-yard TD

WATCH: Jalen Milroe finds Christian Leary for a 52-yard TD

After the defenses mostly stymied the Alabama offenses to start the 2022 A-Day, backup quarterback Jalen Milore find reserve wide receiver Christian Leary for a 52-yard touchdown to give the white team a 13-0 lead.

Despite throwing a pick in the first quarter, Milroe has looked the part of an SEC-caliber quarterback.

Leary made some plays for the Alabama offense in 2021 and looks to play a larger role here in 2022. His play today is certainly helping his cause.

Watch below as Milroe finds Leary deep.

5 offensive players Alabama fans need to watch during A-Day

5 offensive players Alabama fans need to watch during A-Day

Alabama’s annual A-Day game is set to kick off on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CT inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

There is plenty of talent both young and old to be excited about if you are a ‘Bama fan, and it will also be our first opportunity of the spring to see this year’s version of the Tide.

In his Thursday press conference leading up to A-Day, head coach Nick Saban said the format for the scrimmage would be the first-team offense against the first-team defense and the second-team offense against the second-team defense. With this format, fans will get to experience a more game-like scenario with good on good.

Leading up to the start of A-Day tomorrow, I wanted to sit down and give fans a handful of players from each side of the ball that I believe could make an impact during the scrimmage. I want fans to keep in mind that these are players that fans have not seen make a tremendous impact yet for the Crimson Tide, but could on Saturday and during the 2022 season.

Today we will look at the offensive side of the ball. Let’s roll.

What Nick Saban said following Alabama’s second scrimmage of the spring

What Nick Saban said following Alabama’s second scrimmage of the spring.

On a sunny but slightly cool Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Nick Saban and the Alabama football team participated in its second scrimmage of the 2022 spring. Once the scrimmage was wrapped up, the head coach took to the podium to speak with members of the media on the current state of the team as we are now just one week away from A-Day.

Here is what the head coach had to say.

First…opening statement…

Alabama near the top in ESPN’s ‘future QB’ rankings

How does the future of Alabama’s QB position rank nationally?

Alabama has been on a roll with quarterbacks recently. Nick Saban has seen his offense change drastically in the last five or so years because of the highly-talented quarterbacks that have come through Tuscaloosa.

Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones have left for the NFL. Bryce Young is the latest name to be added to the list and still has at least one season remaining with the Crimson Tide.

Though he still has a few years of eligibility remaining, it is assumed that Young will be declaring for the 2023 draft after the upcoming college football season.

That leaves Alabama with Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson as the two go-to quarterbacks currently on the roster when Young leaves.

Granted, players can always transfer and there are some big-name recruits considering the Crimson Tide, but for now we will only look at who is on the depth chart as of today.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg ranked college football’s top-25 future quarterback situations. The Crimson Tide sits at No. 3.

Rittenberg writes,

“Like Stroud, Young is widely expected to depart Alabama after his third season, and will be a candidate to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The immediate depth took a hit with Paul Tyson’s transfer to Arizona State, but as long as Young stays healthy, the questions with the room will emerge in 2023 and 2024. Jalen Milroe had seven pass attempts and 15 rushes in four games last season, and Alabama added incoming freshman Ty Simpson, ESPN’s No. 2 pocket passer and No. 33 overall player in the 2022 class. Like Young, Simpson should be ready to compete for significant field time in his second season.”

Expectations are high for Young in 2022, but he has yet to disappoint Alabama fans in high-pressure situations, so the upcoming season is a highly anticipated one.
