Is Ohio State trying to flip Notre Dame commits and more recruiting news

Interesting news here….

The Irish faced off against Ohio State in the season opener and it didn’t go as many of us would have liked, with Notre Dame falling 21-10 to the Buckeyes in Columbus. Not only were there ramifications on the field but off them as well, specifically on the recruiting trail. Both Midwest powers go after plenty of the same prospects so it would make sense if the Irish or Buckeyes would try and take each other’s prospects.

247Sports recruiting guru Bill Kurelic recently broached the topic of the Buckeyes trying to flip some Irish commits (subscription required) and here are the details of the report.

Watch: Notre Dame shows recruit love with amazing, futuristic video

Gonna be hard to top this

The Irish have been killing it on social media recently. Their announcement they will wear white jerseys for the Shamrock Series game in Las Vegas created a wave of positive buzz along different platforms.

They are at it again, but this time with a recruitment video. Linebacker commit [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag] went to Twitter to share one of the latest videos created by the Notre Dame football social media team.

This one is like looking into the future, complete with AI inside a helmet’s visor along with face recognition, video and audio capabilities. Most likely this technology will never be used, but it’s still pretty cool to see. Check it out for yourself.

Let’s Talk About It: How is ‘Recruiting the Boot’ going for LSU?

Coach Brian Kelly has silenced much of the criticism surrounding his in-state recruiting.

For the past few months, there have been many posts on social media and football message boards about how LSU coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] was not doing a great job recruiting the best players from Louisiana. So, we’re going to take a look into how well the Tigers are doing when it comes to ‘Recruiting the Boot’.

Of the top 15 recruits in Louisiana for the class of 2023, LSU currently has five commits ([autotag]Shelton Sampson Jr.[/autotag], [autotag]Kaleb Jackson[/autotag], [autotag]Kylin Jackson[/autotag], [autotag]Rickie Collins[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyree Adams[/autotag]) and they have  Crystal Ball projections for two more ([autotag]Zalance Heard[/autotag] and [autotag]Khai Prean[/autotag]).

If you go back one more spot, LSU could possibly land eight out of the top 16 players in the state — [autotag]Trey Holly[/autotag], another LSU commit, is No. 16 on the list.

Sure, Kelly missed out on some of the top prospects like [autotag]Arch Manning[/autotag], [autotag]Derek Williams[/autotag], [autotag]Eli Holstein[/autotag] and [autotag]Tackett Curtis[/autotag], but this isn’t Pokémon.

You aren’t going to catch them all.

Landing 50% of the top 16 players in the state is a very high clip. It’s also a lot more than anyone else has in your state. Out of the top 16 players, LSU could land eight while Texas has two (Manning and Williams). Alabama ([autotag]Eli Holstein[/autotag]), USC ([autotag]Tackett Curtis[/autotag]), Notre Dame ([autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag]), Nebraska ([autotag]Omarion Miller[/autotag]), Tennessee ([autotag]Jordan Matthews[/autotag]), and Washington ([autotag]Curley Reed[/autotag]) each have one.

No, it has not been a perfect recruiting cycle, but, in my opinion, it has been pretty successful.

Notre Dame’s recruiting run continues, adds 2024 offensive lineman

The recruiting run continues

The Irish Football team is on an absolute recruiting roll. Over the last three days starting on Thursday, Notre Dame gained commitments in the 2023 class from linebacker [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag], safety [autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag] and running back [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag].

Today, it was the 2024 classes turn for a verbal, as Pennsylvania offensive lineman Peter Jones committed to [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and offensive line coach [autotag]Harry Hiestand[/autotag]. The six-foot-five-inch and 295-pound mauler selected Notre Dame over offers from Penn State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and many others. Jones becomes the sixth commitment in the class and the first offensive lineman. It seems that the visit in April was a success.

This verbal was the biggest surprise of the group, as Jones did not have a set commitment date. Regardless, the Irish once again are off to a very good start with the 2024 class.

The Irish make it three-for-three as they gain another 2023 commit

A massive span of three days for Irish recruiting

The end of this week looked like a massive one for Irish recruiting. The first domino was Louisiana linebacker [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag], who committed on Thursday. Yesterday, it was Ohio safety [autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag] who verbally committed to the Irish. Two-for-two with just one other announcement remaining, Kansas running back [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag].

The talented runner made his decision and once again Notre Dame fans should be extremely happy. Edwards like Ausberry and Minich made his decision in favor of the Irish, giving Notre Dame another weapon in the backfield in the future. It was a quick flip for Edwards, who just last week was committed to Kansas State.

Edwards brings the Irish 2023 class to twenty-three total members and once again tops the 247Sports composite team rankings. It’s safe to say that the past three days have been extremely prosperous for [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and now the class is close to being complete.

For second day in a row Notre Dame lands 2023 defensive commitment

What does this class still need to add in your eyes?

Notre Dame has ended the work-week strong in terms of recruiting as Friday saw them land a commitment on the defensive side of the football for the second day in a row in regards to the 2023 class.

Thursday it was four-star linebacker [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag] who they pulled from the literal shadows of LSU’s Tiger Stadium in earning a commitment.  Friday it was a recent Ohio offer that announced he’d be playing football at Notre Dame.

[autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag], a three-star safety from Cincinnati announced it was Notre Dame for him Friday, choosing the Irish over Cincinnati, Duke, and Wake Forest as finalists.

Minich checks in at 5-11.5, 185-pounds and is about to get his senior season underway at Lakota High School in Cincinnati.  He had roughly 25 scholarship offers in full, including from Power Five programs Iowa State, Oklahoma, Purdue, Indiana, and Wisconsin just to name a few.

Minich adds depth at safety in the 2023 class as he’s the third at the position to commit.  He joins [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag] and [autotag]Adon Shuler[/autotag] in the class, providing valuable insurance if one of those is to ultimately change their college decision.

Notre Dame now has the top ranked recruiting class in 2023 according to 247Sports as the Irish edge Alabama by a nose.  Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and Oklahoma round out the top six.

[autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and Notre Dame hope it doesn’t take long for commitment number-23 to come in as the Irish are a finalist for running back [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag] who is set to announce his college decision on Saturday.

Auburn misses out on four-star linebacker

Auburn currently has the No. 63-ranked recruiting class for 2023, according to 247Sports.

One of Auburn’s linebacker targets is headed somewhere else.

Lousiana linebacker Jaiden Ausberry, who included Auburn in his final seven teams, committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday. Ausberry’s addition only piles on to the stellar No. 2 recruiting class the Fighting Irish have been building and his spurning of the Tigers leaves Auburn’s 2023 class still wanting.

Ausberry officially visited the Tigers on June 3, and 247Sports had him “warm” on the recruiting effort brought forth by Auburn coach Christian Robinson. Ausberry’s brother Austin committed to Auburn for the 2022 class, so many Auburn fans had hopes that Jaiden would follow in his brother’s footsteps and come to the Plains.

That wasn’t meant to be, though, and the Tigers will still be stuck with their 63rd-ranked recruiting class for 2023. That’s currently the lowest recruiting ranking among the entire SEC — even Vanderbilt sits at No. 52 — so [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and his crew will have to do some more work to put the team’s future in a better spot in the coming weeks and months.

The Irish land Ausberry, talented linebacker commits to Notre Dame

The start to what could be a huge recruiting stretch for the Irish

Although recruiting seems to take a break for the Irish, this weekend has been set up to be a big one. The first portion of the potential commitments was Louisiana linebacker [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag].

The six-foot-one-inch and 210-pound ‘backer went to Instagram live and verbally committed to Notre Dame over LSU, Michigan, Alabama, Florida and a host of others. Ausberry becomes the 21st commitment of the 2023 recruiting class that has been among the top rated classes. [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] has been on top of his game since coming to South Bend and the commitment from Ausberry just solidifies the magnificent job the new Irish head coach has done.

The banner weekend is set to continue for the Irish as a commitment from safety [autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag] on Friday and then running back [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag] would be the perfect scenario. Ausberry committing should not be taken lightly or a back seat to a verbal from Minich or Edwards, he’s one of the best players in the country.

Four-star safety to announce commitment Friday, Notre Dame among finalists

The Irish class could be growing again

It very well could be a banner weekend for the Irish. We already knew that running back [autotag]Dylan Edwards[/autotag] plans to make his pledge on Saturday, and linebacker [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag] plans his announcement later today.

Another Notre Dame target has made his decision date known. Ohio safety [autotag]Ben Minich[/autotag] tweeted he plans to make his intentions known on Friday, at 6 p.m. EDT. Minich will pick from Stanford, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Kentucky and the Irish. He will do it via his YouTube page, which is a bit different from other prospects however it gives many the ability to watch his decision live.

The 6-foot-1-inch and 185-pound safety would be a very solid addition to the Notre Dame 2023 recruiting class. The recruitment of Minich really has blown up during the summer months, and he is ready to make a decision.

Four-star Baton Rouge linebacker to announce decision Thursday

Will it be gold and blue through and through for the Baton Rouge product?

Four-star linebacker [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag] of Baton Rouge is set to announce his college decision on Thursday, and the budding Cold War between Notre Dame and LSU may add another chapter.

Ausberry, the 105th player overall on the 247Sports composite for 2023 is down to seven finalists from which he’ll choose at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. Notre Dame and LSU are on his list of finalists as are Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Florida and Texas A&M.

Ausberry’s father is a former LSU player while his brother was a member of Auburn’s 2022 recruiting class.

Ausberry checks in at 6 feet, 1 inch and 210 pounds. He is coming off a summer during which he visited Auburn, Notre Dame, Michigan and Texas A&M this June.

For whatever it’s worth, the On3 recruiting prediction machine has Notre Dame as the runaway favorite to land his commitment, giving the Irish a 94.6% chance.
