Jalen Ramsey reacts to Tom Coughlin being fired with two emojis

Here’s how Jalen Ramsey reacted to Tom Coughin being fired by the Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made the decision Wednesday to fire Tom Coughlin as executive vice president of football operations. He only spent two-plus years in the position with Jacksonville, which did not go well, to say the least.

Jalen Ramsey caught wind of the news and shared a cryptic tweet in response to Coughlin’s firing. He only needed two emojis to make his point.

Ramsey made his opinion of Coughlin and the Jaguars organization very clear after he was traded to the Rams. The front office wasn’t happy about Ramsey working out on his own away from the team during the offseason, which the All-Pro corner didn’t appreciate.

The Jaguars have regressed significantly since reaching the AFC championship in 2017, making several changes to the roster in the process. They traded Ramsey, moved on from Blake Bortles, signed Nick Foles to a huge contract and dealt Dante Fowler Jr. to the Rams.

Ramsey doesn’t seem upset about Coughlin’s firing, saying everything he needed to with that one tweet.

Dante Fowler: Jaguars ‘literally hated me,’ wrongfully fined me over $700K

Dante Fowler Jr. was wrongfully fined 25 times for more than $700K by the Jaguars during his time there.

Dante Fowler Jr. and the Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t exactly have an amicable breakup when he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams last season. The Jaguars were clearly not happy with his on- or off-field performance, and he wasn’t thrilled with his role as a backup in Jacksonville.

There’s another layer to the split, though. this week, the NFLPA won an arbitration grievance against the Jaguars for requiring players to get treatment at the team’s facility. One player was fined 25 times for more than $700,000 for missing mandatory treatments, which were not actually required.

Fowler confirmed on Twitter that he was the player fined 25 times, saying the team hated him.

In the NFLPA’s statement, the association took a direct shot at the Jaguars and warned players about signing with Jacksonville.

Fowler was drafted third overall by the Jaguars in 2015. He was never a full-time starter with them, making just one start in three-plus seasons; he missed his rookie year due to injury.

He has since become a key player for the Rams, starting 18 of a possible 22 games since coming to L.A.

Jags land at spot No. 30 in USA TODAY power rankings for Week 14

The Jags handily loss yet another game and are just two slots away from the bottom of USA Today’s power rankings now.

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have looked like the worst team in football, but they haven’t found themselves at the bottom of USA Today’s power rankings yet. However, they are getting pretty close.

The Cardiac Cats came in at the No. 30 spot of Week 14’s edition of the power rankings with only the New York Giants (No. 31) and Cincinnati Bengals (No. 32) below them.

Our comrade Nate Davis was quick to point out something we’ve harped on since last month, and that’s the fact that the Jags have been losing handily and the fact that a reboot is coming.

30. Jaguars (30): All you need to know about their recent play is they’ve lost five straight by at least 17 points for first time in club history. Reboot.

The Jags lost their fourth consecutive game Sunday courtesy of the Los Angeles Chargers. It was their worst showing of the year as they fell by a score of 45-10 and are now 4-9. To make matters worse, the Jags are now guaranteed to have their 10th losing season in 12 years.

Luckily, they will be up against another team in the Oakland Raiders this week, who also have been blown out in several of their last games. Then again, when considering the Jags’ struggles on the West Coast, Week 15’s game may be hard to watch, too.

Gardner Minshew sets rookie franchise passing TD record during loss to Chargers

Wins have not been prevalent for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but they at least were able to set a notable record Week 14.

Just as he’s done all year, rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew II was able to add another franchise record to his résumé. This time it was the rookie record for touchdown passes, which occurred in the third quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers No. 4 ranked passing defense.

With 5:48 to go in the quarter, Minshew eluded the entire Chargers defense and hit tight end Nick O’Leary wide open for a 12-yard touchdown. While the touchdown didn’t mean much in the total outcome of the game, it did impact the franchise’s history books.

The Jaguars continued their franchise record breaking success from last week where Jaguars linebacker Josh Allen set the rookie franchise sacks (nine) record and running back Leonard Fournette set the single season record for most receptions by a running back (63).

Unfortunately, that success did not translate to the score sheet as the Jaguars fell to the Chargers by a score of 45-10.

Fans react to Jags’ poor first half performance vs. Chargers with frustrations at an all-time high

Jags fans weren’t happy with the team’s first half performance against the Chargers. In fact, the game can’t end soon enough.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have gotten off to another embarrassing start and entered the half of Week 14’s game down 24-3. That quickly turned into a 31-3 deficit in the third quarter and fans have let their voices be heard about the product on the field.

Below are just some of the few fan reactions from the Jags poor showing in the first half:

Talk about an angry fanbase. But then again, can they really be blamed at this point?

The Jags poor showing in the first half wasn’t shocking, unfortunately. When looking at their 10 quarters heading into the half, they had been outscored by a deficit of 150-50.

With just under two minutes left in the third quarter, they will need a holiday miracle to close their current deficit of 37-10.

Jaguars X-factors on offense and defense vs. Chargers

Which Jags players can be the Jaguars’ X-factors on offense and defense vs. Chargers?

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers face off Sunday in a battle of two desperately disappointing franchises. Both teams are on a losing streak that spans at least three games, with the Jaguars trying to avoid losing their fifth-straight game.

Gardner Minshew II is back as the starting quarterback for Jacksonville, which is just about the only thing keeping fans engaged in what has otherwise has been a very disappointing season.

With positive momentum nowhere to be seen in Northeast Florida and tough games against wild-card hopefuls in the Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts, and a game against an unpredictable Atlanta Falcons team, the Jaguars might not win another game this year if they aren’t able to win Sunday.

Simply put, a win by Jacksonville Sunday will take a special effort from some of the best players, but who can provide an X-factor for the Jaguars in this game?

RB Ryquell Armstead

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be up against a talented passing defense as the Chargers are ranked fourth in passing yards allowed under former Jags head coach Gus Bradley. Much of that is because of edge rushers Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. They also have an elite corner in Casey Hayward. That said, when considering how the group plays defense under Bradley, the Jags will need to depend on a player who makes defenders miss and Ryquell Armstead is just that.

Of course, Leonard Fournette has flourished as a pass-catcher this season, but the Chargers are well aware of who he is. That’s exactly why the Jags should look to get Armstead, who is still relatively unknown, some opportunities in the passing game as he and rookie Gardner Minshew already have one touchdown connection.

DE Yannick Ngakoue

Normally we don’t go with starers in our X-factors post, but Ngakoue has an X-factor ability: causing turnovers. He’ll be up against a quarterback with eight turnovers in his last three games in Philip Rivers. In that span, Rivers has also fumbled the ball twice.

Ngakoue is likely headed to the franchise tag as the future of this Jaguars’ front office remains up in the air. However, that hasn’t let contract issues prevent him from producing this season.

The fourth-year defensive end has registered four sacks and two forced fumbles in his last five games, which is a remarkably impressive run of form. The Chargers’ offensive line isn’t brilliant and if the Maryland product can make his presence felt against his assignment, then it could be a very fruitful day for him.

Broncos at Bills – noon CT

The Denver Broncos have done a very poor job of closing out games this season. Right now, the Broncos are playing for next season, trying to find some success to propel them into the offseason. They’ll look to get back on track against the Buffalo Bills and play spoiler to their AFC playoff hopes.

The Bills are probably one of the surprise success stories of this season. They’re a confusing team because at one point it looked like they might be able to hang with the Patriots. Since then they have losses to the struggling Eagles and the Browns. They’re in the thick of the AFC playoff race and could challenge the Chiefs for seeding. This is one where you have a free pass to root for the Broncos.

Jaguars remain 3.5-point underdogs vs. Titans but money line shifts

There was a shift in the money line for the Jags and Titans game but the spread remained the same.

The Jacksonville Jaguars remain a betting underdog for their upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN.

According to BetMGM, the Jaguars are still currently a 3.5-point underdogs to their divisional rivals but the money line did change.

The Jaguars began the week as a +140 underdog on the money line, however, they’ve now fallen to a +165 underdog as of today’s writing.

When looking at the total, the bout is still expected to be a low-scoring game with the over/under unchanged from 41.5-points.

Both teams have been very difficult to bet on. The Jaguars are 5-5 against the spread and are coming off consecutive double-digit losses to the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts. The Titans are 4-5-1 against the spread and have won three out of their last five games. The Titans last victory came against the Kansas City Chiefs by the score of 35-32.

Prediction

Titans 27, Jaguars 20

Moneyline (?)

Despite Foles being back for his second straight game, the Titans are the better team. Led by QB Ryan Tannehill and RB Derrick Henry, Tennessee’s offense is more than capable of knocking off the Jaguars.

Bet the TITANS (-175) to win this game outright over the Jaguars. Jacksonville is allowing 134.6 rushing yards per game, which Tennessee will exploit.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Titans to win outright would return a profit of $5.68.

Against the Spread (?)

The Titans are 3.5-point home favorites over the Jaguars in this AFC South showdown. They’ve covered the spread in three of their last four games, and they’ll make it four of five Sunday.

Take the TITANS (-106) to cover the spread in this matchup, winning at home by a touchdown.

Over/Under (?)

The projected total is only 41.5 points in this game, which isn’t very high. The Titans have scored at least 23 points in each of their last four games and Jacksonville still has talent on offense with Foles, RB Leonard Fournette and WR DJ Chark, too.

Bet the OVER (-115) in this matchup.
